I've seen mainy threads saying that BioWare has said they don't care, and won't fix the helmet issue, but I can't find any official quote or statement on the this. Does anyone have the link or thread of BioWare's official statement directly regarding the helmet issue and if they plan or do not plan on fixing it?

You can find Christina Norman's take on the situation here :-

I can understand the desire to run around in collector armor with the
'helmet' off but that isn't the way they were designed in terms of
appearance or in terms of art assets. To state it simply the armor is a
single piece.

We do have a system for armor segments, and
you can use that to construct a custom look for Shepard, but armor has
to be designed artistically and otherwise for this system. To put it
another way - the collector armor wouldn't look like the collector armor
if we built it using the segmented armor system. We're able to get the
awesome look because it's a single armor piece. This is not a bug, so it
can't be "patched" to change the behavior.

I think roughly translated that comes across as "we did it that way, we aint about to change it.  So tough luck".

I wear the blood dragon armor. I found it a little weird that my dude tried to kiss Liara with the helmet on. Huh, no wonder she turned him down.

Its a BS excuse in my opinion. So the Collector armor just grows on him? how the heck does he get it on if its not in pieces?!?!!??!

Having a area that makes the helmet look detachable would make perfect sense to me....

I can understand the devs' reasoning for not giving us segmented armor pieces (think back to DA:O's Blood Dragon Armor, and how crappy it looked when coupled with gold greaves and a viking helmet).

I don't see any reason why we can't have unique-looking armor without a helmet, though. If we had the option of toggling helmets in-game, that would definitely make me want to wear the DLC pieces. I mean, the devs went to the trouble of making them... and so far almost every person I've spoken to has refused to wear the extra armors for the sole reason that they can't see their face while wearing it.

Even if they gave you two versions of the same armor: one with the helmet, another without the helmet, and forced you to wear the helmet in hostile environments regardless of which version you had equipped. They'd fix the problem, without having to add a whole new feature.

when they didn't even bother to give the female versions breast-room, instead just using the same male armor for women, they obviously don't care enough about the DLC to fix this situation.

you never know, I'd like to believe they'l do something about it with some DLC. There are too many "Head Threads" for them just to simply do nothing. Believe in Bioware.

I hope so....I REALLY hope for the armor in the begining that femshep is wearing.

Non-toggleable helmets are horrible.  I have Terminus, Inferno, Blood Dragon and Collector, all purchased legitimately on my 360 (yes, I am a wenis for purchasing the game twice) and this makes it so I can't wear any of the armors!

Luckily, there is a solution!  N7 can do nearly, practically everything that the LE armors can do stat-wise...

Terminus Assault Armor -Storm speed +10%, Shields +15%, Increases all weapons reserve ammunition by +10%
  • Sentry Interface (+10% Shields)
  • Shield Harness (+5% Shields)
  • Off Hand Ammo Pack (+10% Reglar Ammo)
  • Ordnance Packs (+10% Heavy Ammo)
Inferno Armor - Negotiation bonus +10%, Power damage +10%, Storm speed +10%
  • Death Mask (10% Negotiation bonus)  (Stupid, stupid helmet)
  • N7 Chestplate (3% Power damage)
  • Amplifier Plates (5% Power damage)
  • Stimulator Conduits (10% Storm speed)
  • Choose your own arms!
Blood Dragon Armor - Power damage +15%, Shields +10%
  • Umbra Visor (5% Power damage)
  • N7 Chest Plate (3% Power damage)
  • Amplifier Plates (5% Power damage)
  • Heavy Damping Gauntlets (5% Shields)
  • N7 Greaves (3% Shields)
Collector's Armor - Regenerate 10% faster, Increases storm speed by 10%, Increases health by 20%
  • Well, no, not really... you're pretty much boned.
So, N7 is better than Terminus if you don't care about Storm Speed, better than Inferno if you don't mind giving up 2% of your power bonus for say a 5% boost to your shields, nearly as good as Blood Dragon (13 and 8 vs BD's 15 and 10) but has no real way yet to compensate for the Collector's Armor's weird health and regen bonuses.  (Unless it's regeneration is just Capacitor Chestplates... in which case you're closer and better off with chosing better shields than healthy anyways...)

But... it still sucks!  Cause it's N7 armor, and I seriously want some Terminus or Inferno without a freaking helmet on it.

I wouldn't count on a toggle being patched in ever. The best you'll probably get is the helmet slider in your armour locker. Even then I wouldn't count on it. The ME1 style toggle where you magically pull a helmet out of your ass though? Not in a million bloody years.

Ye thats much worse than drinking through glass, kissing a helmet, and magically having people recognise Shepard through a full face helmet. Kiff.

When you first meet Tali, she must have thought, when Shepard said Cerberus reconstructed me, that Shepard was reconstructed with the helmet as Shepards new face. :P

That reasoning doesn't work at all. No one's forcing the player to wear Blood Dragon Armor with gold greaves and a viking helmet, but the option should still be there!

agree... The N7 has a ton of pieces to it all customizable all diff shapes um I don't see why BW can't part out the armor. I'm going out of town for 2weeks so I won't beable to play (nervious and twitching already). Hopefully by the time I get back BW will have changed their stance and bless us with armor segmentation ( not just N7 either)...... Come on BW! Hook a Brotha up! Come on!

This is probably the best solution devised so far. Congrats on being a genius.

@ABcold: I could care less about the nubers and stats, I want the skin of the armor on my Shepherd.

that's right! I want to kick some collectors "Boot" and look good doing it. BW I'm afraid you'll need to take a page out of headless horseman tail and cut that helmet off. Paint it all the way to the neck. Anyhow I think the compromise would be to make the armor so you cant transfer pieces (much like a Hard suit) as to not ruin artistic merit but make it helmet-less. If you the player forget to swap back to the cerberus helmet for instances in harsh environment off world then the system would default to the N7 helmet (which goes well with just about anything including a little vino and some sharp cheddar).....keep the ideas a coming my Massfam....believe in Bioware!

I don't use the Cerberus or the Blood Dragon armor because of the helmet either.

Responses from developers on their forums is a luxury not many companies will offer.

I have more respect for development teams that will come out and say "that's the way we designed it, and like it or not that's the way it's gonna stay" than those that stay silent.

See both egosoft and paradox. Two of the best Game forums around. Devs, testers, and company executives post on the game sites. One company is German the other is Swedish. Both produce niche games (X-universe and Hearts of Iron/Europa Universalis)). Much better high and low level communications than those provided by companies like EA and Bethesda.

And the forums are small enough that one voice isn't lost in the multitude.  This forum is pure chaos.

The Cerberus Armor is rocking, but the forced helmet just takes so much away from it for me. I mean I met someone for the first time wearing the helmet, and they were like: Shepard, you're alive. And I'm like, ummm I'm wearing a full face helmet by the way? Kills the immersion factor :( I don't understand the design reasoning behind this? I wish Bioware could explain it properly.

I wish I would been there to get it for free. Atleast I have Terminus Armor. Why do people hate the helmets? All helmets for all DLC armor are cool.

Terminus-Cool!
Collectors-SICK
Blood Dragon-Sexy!
Inferno(Iron Man)- Sweet!

Be happy you atleast get some more extra armor.

I have to admit the Cerberus helmet isn't that cool. But it is still useful.

The cerberus armor has a transparent faceplate. This is an issue: what's his name not freaking out when he sees you in collector armor or Tali recognising you through it.
[e] Also, while I agree about the other armors, the Collector armor should never be free.

I'm not saying get free content aint cool. All the armor looks cool but this aint Halo! It's a step in the wrong direction as far a customization goes. You are locked into how you tell "play" your narritive. Look the N7 is cool but the fact is the other look great but with lack of customazation that the first ME had is insulting. You can't tell me you liked Jar jar Binks? If you think about it, that's what this is a lame laps of judgment operating how it was supposed to or not.....play like Cold Play and "Fix it"

To me rpgs are about choice. If I want to wear the collectors helmet with the terminus greaves and the N7 chest piece I should be able to. Who cares if the DLC armors would have "looked a little less cool" to have the ability to just equip seperate parts, you know like in every other rpg I've ever played. Seriously once blood dragon armor in DA:O was all equiped did it look that much lamer than the magical single piece it was in ME2?
