I've been pondering about bad dreams you gain as a GW (archdemon roaring etc). Does that happen in the fade like other dreams, or is it something else, likely due to dwarves. The old gods have roamed the fade, according to faith of both the followers of the Maker and of the Old Gods. Could they still roam the fade to bring that to you?
So, is it dreaming in a conventional sense, or something else?

I don't think it's dreaming in the conventional sense, but rather that a warden is more susceptible to the effects of the calling when they are asleep

It's not the fade, I think. Its like interrupting your regularly scheduled trip to the fade with a message from your neighborly Archdemon, because I don't remember hearing about Darkspawn dreaming or even sleeping for that matter, and those nightmares are typically the archdemon talking to the hoard.

Maybe it's occurring in the telepathic darkspawn hive-mind that the Grey Wardens are linked to (Riordan talks about using this ability to 'listen in' to the horde when he was tracking them and determined they were going to attack Denerim. So I think it might be the Archdemon speaking through the hivemind conciousness that our Wardens are linked to

Yup, that it isn't connected to the fade at all is my first guess, due to the taint being alien to demons (source, Avernus).
But the backdrop in one of the dreams were extremely fade-like (greeish-bown) so that got me thinking. And if the darkspawn never dream, would that mean that their connection to the fade is lost? If so, how do their emissaries cast magic, is it different from regular mages?

Emmisaries are known to use Blood Magic-like abilities....
