My first playthrough I used an import and had no problems with anything.

This time, completely new character, no import, no bonus, but according to most people here my paragon was high enough anyway, so wtf.

Edit: Oh, sorry, you weren't talking to me.

You never did a NG+ with an ME2 import?

Heh, it's easier to do the arguments with an ME1 save import than the NG+ because you get a paragon or renegade boost at the start - it's 190 points I believe for max.

I wasn't talking about NG+.  NG+ requires an ME2 import unless there is some secret method I'm not aware of.  ;)

I never finished NG+; I got bored with it after the first couple recruitment missions when I realized I'd never get any more skill points.  Kind of depressing.  I noticed, though, that I didn't have the Paragon option to resolve the hostage crisis on Mordin's recruitment, and there was one other I didn't have... can't remember what it was.

Except that is the second playthrough with that character for me, I got it the first time and during that NG+ run so... don't know what to tell yah man. I'm doing still another NG+ run with him right now - I'm just at Horizon and I've completed all the pre-Horizon conversations with both Jack and Miranda but I didn't have sex with Jack. Don't know if that helps you or not. Anyway, I'll make another video when I get there and identify all the missions I've done up to that point.

Hmm... on NG+ I had both Par and Ren options for Mordin's recruitment during the hostage negotiation.

*Edit: And I usually do his mission first, weird.

Anyway, sorry I don't know how to gain their loyalty "back." I'll do another video showing what I did to get solve the argument with both of their loyalties intact.

I followed aeetos21's advice last night and it worked like a charm. My ME1 import Shep started with 135 paragon points. Once Miranda's loyalty mission opened up I went to Illium, did a couple little side missions there that raised my paragon points. Then I did her (Miranda's) mission. Once back on the ship Jack's mission opened up and I went there immediately. The blue paragon option was open and it worked fine, I had a little more than 50 percent paragon points. It's ironic that what should be the least time sensitive mission is actually the most time sensitive. In other missions people are about to be killed, assassinated or kidnapped, but Jack wants you to blow up an empty building. If I were November Cousland I think I would go back to an early save and try again. If you fail that first conversation you are shooting at a moving target that keeps getting harder. Or accept that one character wont be loyal. You can have everyone survive the "suicide mission" even if Jack is not loyal. It just takes some really careful party assignments.

I am not starting over, but thanks anyway. I can see the greyed out option to win Miranda back, so I'll just keep trying. If anyone does have any experience with winning her back, please let me know what your paragon percentage was at the time. Thanks.

I know how to do things "the right way" if that's what I wanted, because I have done it before. What I want to do is proceed from this point and try to win her back. Thank you again for the advice.

Now, I've imported every time, but people have posted their 75% paragon stats before and all that crap and still have options grayed out. I never have. I believe it has to do with your class proficiency. When you level up your class specialization (which I always do first), I pick the option that maximizes my para/rena scores. Never had a grayed out option.

I did that. Still greyed out. I chose the 100% option.

Oh dear.

Just recruited Thane and Samara, done Jacob's loyalty mission and about to do Miranda's. Will go and do Jack's afterwards. My Renegade is at halfway through so hopefully I'll be fine. The way Persuasion is handled in this episode comes to a near game-breaker for me, so it better give me the option <_<

So I had to dig back 9 pages to find this thread, but whatever. Earlier I commented that I'd do a more in depth video guide for players who are still having problems with the Miranda and Jack confrontation scene, I'm just following through on that. If you are one of these players, I have a video guide up on youtube right now to help you out: click here.

I do believe I covered most of it but if I missed anything please comment. Hope this helps Posted Image

So your theory is that the number of paragon/renegade points needed for resolving the Jack/Miranda and Tali/Legion fights has to do with how far you've progressed through the main story line, and that the earlier you resolve those fights, the fewer paragon or renegade points you need. From watching your video it seems that you're correct.

I was able to win her back when I reached 90% Paragon, just before the derelict ship quest.

I've heard that if you use Power Retraining to evolve your passive power to the other (that is, Combat Mastery to Shock Trooper instead of Commando, or vice versa) the resetting of your points lets you get around the bug.

That makes sense, you're not completely endgame yet and had a high ass paragon score - congratz man I'm happy it worked out for you Posted Image

As for the combat mastery skills... I found that when you pick the 70% or 100% option it automatically adjusts your meter. Thus, if you go for the 100% option then when you have like 80% on your meter you actually have only 40%. But since you have the meter buff it's calculated automatically. Could be wrong but when I went to retrain my powers I saw that meter shifted when I evolved my combat mastery power.

Thanks.
I had the 100% option already so I just needed a few paragon bumps to get that option to go blue. So I saved the biotic god and WHAM!:wizard:  Miranda is loyal again!<3

Sweet! Congratulations, has to be one of the toughest persuasions to do in the game. Definitely glad to hear that it is possible.

I had no problem with fight with a little under 80% paragone. I did on a PC as a Adapt Bastion and I and had completed 4 loyalty quests so I was about half way through the game. I did no retaining.

Maxing out your passive (class) skill in the talent tree to level 4 and pick the option that gives you a 100% charm/intimidate bonus most likely will help too. I did that and 90% of all red and blue dialogue options are available for my paragade Shepard, including these from the Jack v.s Miranda issue.

honestly, it is a matter of timing nothing more, I never fail the paragon / renegade check for this, simply because I do the mission loyalty mission immediately as offered. Last time I actually got Jack's before Miranda's was offered. As for Zaeed, I do his mission before I start out on the Omega missions, get the Paragon option everytime.

This thread is insanely old (1 year) but I need help. I chose Jack's side, and now Miranda hates me. I got everybody except for Miranda loyal (cause of choosing Jack), and I aquired the Reaper IFF. What annoys me, is that even though I have 100% Paragon (went from like 83% to 100 with the last Operative skill), I can't choose the paragon option when I try to get her loyalty back. Wtf else is there to do? I'm aiming for a perfect ending and, correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you need everybody loyal for that?

If you have no more conversations left for some quick paragon points, then probably nothing.

No. I've got everyone through fine with a couple unloyal. just make smart choices, and they should stay alive. Just make a few save before the Omega 4 relay, just in case.
