After playing DAO on 360, I have just ordered the PC version so that I
can play with mods. I have very limited experience with this (Oblivion
only.)
What mods would you start with?
Have a lot of mods been made already?
Have any large quest mods been created/tested as of yet?
Thank you../../../images/forum/emoticons/heart.png

The Projects tab has most of the popular ones on the first page. As far as I know there aren't really any additional content/quest mods yet.

That looks just like the TES Nexus. Oh wait, that's because it is the same!
Thank you, they are both good places to look.

I wish that bioware would make it possible for me to get the DLC free for PC since I already purchased if for 360. :wizard:I've already paid twice for the game...Wishful thinking, I know...blah..blah...blah...difficult...blah...blah...blah...problems...<3<3<3

Not true. There is Alley of Murders, it adds a new area to Denerim, and another to the world map.
It even includes voice actors (my guess is they are friends & buddies of the creator). Its two quests are fairly short, but it's out there. I tried it. It's short, the voices are kinda funny, but what the hey, that's what happens when you don't use paid actor talent.
Kal'Sharok is also being worked on - although AFAICS it's really a parallel campaign (with a diff. PC and diff. companions and diff. map), not an add-in to the existing one.

1st post I made on these forums were regarding mods and have seen regular posts ever since. Mods for players seems almost deserving of a sub forum on its own as forums exist for the mod writers but not so much for those that want to use mods generally.
What I have also noticed is that many mod writers read and reply to most posts on mods which is really good.
Anyhow, a couple of recent threads are below - hope they help:

Thanks!
There seems to be two popular mod managers on DAOnexus, do you reccomend a specific one?
One says Premiere, lol, so that must be the best one, right.

I have actually installed all of 'em as some mod writers prefer one over the other. In any event most mods are simply files stored on your My Documents\\Bioware\\Dragon Age folder, so backup and transferring ALL of your DAO stuff is nice and easy.
Dunno, if you are on XP, Vista or Win7, but if on either of the latter, always worth running the exe files for these as Administrator - Right click and select 'Run as Administrator'

Yeah, I'm on vista and I have to do that for Oblivion, too.

First, take a look at the assorted mods to add color and hairstyles to character creation. Most any other mod can be added after starting the game, but these are only really used during the character creation. Pineapple's tints and colors and more hairstyles are the two I picked up
After that its a matter of what irks you about the game.
If you like using the tactics, Advanced Tactics is a good add on to expand the existing tactics choices.
If you find it a little silly that potion chugging is the most powerful ability in the game, theres a mod called simple difficulty increase which increases the cooldown on potion use, I found it quite nice.
Of course there are all kinds of face morph mods to change npc appearances and to add in certain...ahem...adult aspects.
Dragonagenexus has a nice sortable list of mods rather than having everything crumpled together to help you find the things you like. Although I'd recommend not downloading mods that add items (except the Ancient Elven Boots) as they tend to be a bit overpowered.

I liked a lot Character Respecialization v1.6, because it allows you to change completely your character's talents, attributes, ecc.
In a few words, you can give different roles to your characters in different playthroughs, increasing fun and longevity of DAO. For example, I wanted Sten to be my tank for my second playthrough, but still wanted Alistair in the main party.. so I made Sten a tank and Alistair a bowman.
The only problem is that once you install Character Respecialization v1.6 and save, you won't be able to unistall the mod anymore in order to play that savegame
