Again, and again we see this brain dead ppl insisting on defiling the ME legacy. Excuse me, but a million ppl advertising all the curse words they know, is not my idea of RPGImage IPB. MMO's is are a hotbed for human devolvement into it's most juvanile state. The fact that they're talking about Asari with "power bows" and enchanted deggars, should tell u that they aren't on the same page as the rest of us...

Mass Effect is a great universe for an MMO if it advanced the genre, but I'm going to have to see whether The Old Republic breaks the mold in all the right places before I suggest that the franchise be turned over to a genre where "good" game design involves delivering time sinks instead of content.

The only reason I can think of for wanting a Mass Effect MMO is as a means of sating one's constant desire for more things Mass Effect. Mass Effect could very likely work as an MMO, but MMOs have a way of souring intellectual properties (due mostly to the communities that form in them, and the rabid power gaming that ensues).

Keep the DLC coming, both paid and free, and you'll keep a lot of people happy (both for satisfying their ME hunger, and for not forcing them to delve into another MMO).

I think that we should wait for TOR to decide whether Bioware is good at making multiplayer games, much less massively multiplayer games.

However, I would like to see a duel mode in Mass Effect 3, just a fight between your shepard and a friend's shepard. Vanguard versus Infiltrator...battle of the century...haha

I would not want them banned outright, even though I find it peculiar that they don't seem to get it that it's nigh impossible to translate a highly story-intensive RPG like ME2 into an MMO without significantly watering down its very essence. I would, however, endorse them being tarred and feathered for the forum's general amusement.

def give you the point that "power bows" and "daggers" are clinically retarded. But the idea of a MMOFPSRPG (making up genre's ftw?) would be interesting in the ME universe. Mind you i wouldn't want anything to do with it until they exhaust the market with their current style of epic, pants ruining, mind blowing, thought provoking goodness.

Banned?? Is that a joke? Their IP addresses should be publically posted and a death squad started to hunt them down. At a minimum.

Only if Bioware decided to be stupid.

Yes.

Well, not banned, but it was told about 1861166817 times that the Mass Effect franchise is a single-player action/rpg. We knew it anyways, it was mentioned specifically for them. Eh, if some people were to get developing rights, they'd turn ME3 into a dating-mmo for sure.

personally I don't want a Mass Effect mmo. nothing against mmo's, I just feel that there's too few quality single player games as it is without turning another great single player franchise into an mmo (and making an mmo severely reduces the chances of further single player games due to the difficulty of making them overlap)

that being said, those who do want a Mass Effect mmo have just as much right to ask for one as I or anyone else do to argue against it. provided their reasoning is a bit more advanced than "it wud be kool"

Just because you don't fancy the idea of Mass Effect: Online it doesn't mean that others will not like it. Personally I greatly approve of the idea.

Isn't the better question: 'Should people suggesting that people suggesting that Mass Effect be made into an MMO be banned instead?'

Seriously, who cares if someone voices an opinion that differs from your own?  Imagine if there were threads about how Mass Effect should be a 360 exclusive and the PC gamers should not even have the Mass Effect franchise available to them?  Then  the discussion about MMOs would not even account for WoW, Star Trek Online, etc. but would only include two games in total (PSU and FFXI).

Yes, the Mass Effect universe is just that, a universe, and it encompasses a large enough area that even a small portion of the universe could make up an entire game.  Heck, an MMO could take place in a single system and it would still provide enough details to keep players interested for hundreds of hours.  Should an MMO be created in the Mass Effect universe?  Probably not yet, but that does not mean that it should never be done.

As I have stated before the gameplay mechanics are already in place to allow for Mass Effect to transition into an MMO.  No they are not perfect and would require much tweaking to keep things balanced.  I would much rather see ME add in multiplayer in the form of coop gameplay but should I be banned for merely suggesting the idea?  Stop with the censorship and please let us all know why a ME MMO would be a bad idea; I can't wait to see how you support your opinion.

I'd prefer it if every great sci-fi IP did NOT degenerate into being a full time job to enjoy. I'd much rather have KOTOR 3 than TOR. This is coming from a recovering MMO addict with a year of actual game time spread between things like DAOC and WOW. Even if it's great I'm expecting an inferior experience from TOR than I'll get from ME3 or got from KOTOR. While an MMO is a license to print money they come at a price, they degrade every aspect of the world and story in trade for gameplay and replayability. It'd be like stripping conversations out of ME2 so they could add co-op.

The idea for mass effect as an MMO would not interfere with the trilogy in any way, in the MMO there would be no commander shepard, you would be able to choose class and race, and things would be different. In no way would it ruin the franchise, it would be a totally different game.

"Mass Effect" was never meant to be a trilogy, Shepard's story was meant to be one. Bioware has a mind to continue the franchise once the trilogy is over, so an MMO would take nothing. It's not like they're leaving ME2 with the huge cliffhanger and not making a real ME3: that might actually annoy people.

Well if they cancel Mass Effect 3 to make an MMO i will be pretty pissed. I think i would just ditch video games all together.

If they were to make a ME: MMO it probably wouldn't revolve Shepard or the ME characters at all. If anythingm it would probably take place after the trilogy so there would be no iminent Reaper threat(providing we end it in ME3).

Personally, I could see an MMO being practical. Content would have to be extremely heavy: including large planet areas, character classes, weapons, expansion on species, ships, economic and career activities, and a bunch of other stuff I can't comprehend right now. But as of course, you would get all of the cons of an MMO.

I know, and if they made an mmo I'd probably give it a try. but I'm hoping that once ME3 is done and Shepherd's story is over they'll continue to make single player games in the Mass Effect universe with different characters and stories. it's very likely going to be one or the other (or neither) though; single player, or multiplayer
