I heart this game as well...it's a huge step up from NWN2, in my humble opinion. I won't say it's the best rpg I've ever played, but it has some very strong points. It's the best party-based rpg I've played in years...Drakensang is the only other game I can think of that comes close (aside from NWN2).

As an aside, for solo party rpgs of recent years, The Witcher and Vampire Masquerade are my favorites. I also have to say that Bethesda has released some gems this decade, as long as you utilize the mods for their games...without such, the are lacking.

It all depends on what kind of game you prefer. Frankly, I like all of the above games for their own qualities. Good work, Bioware.

Like at the Little Demon Boy part of the game (The one you go after saving Redcliffe)

Its SO Crazy how many options you can make on that sequency

My group at the moment
Me as a City Elf Rogue, Alistair, Morrigan, Wynne

First i saved Wynne then Redcliffe, then Redcliffe Castle, saved the blood mage also after that i went to the where the little Demon boy is and engaged conversation, right there i was just amazed with this game 3 options:

-Kill the boy
-Kill the Mother and use her blood to go into the Fade and save her son
-Kill nobody and go to the Circle tower and ask for Help

Another amazing thing was as only mages can go into the fade and as a rogue i couldnt go but i could chose Wynne, Morrigan, The blood mage that i saved or Irvine (The Old mage that is on mage origin i dont really remember his name) him only with good COERCION skill.

I was thinking if u dont have any mage in ur group and you are no t a mage your self LOL you will have to kill The boy UUUOOOHAHAHHAHAHAH!!!!!!!

Freacking AMAZING GAME AAAMAZING!!!!!!

I'm loving this game, I'm normally a person who plays games on easy and gets frustrated if they are to complex, but the story and style of this game is making me learn to play it properly, on Normal.

This is a great game. I have nothing to complain about at all. I am glad I took my Modern warfare 2 canceled preorder money and spent it on this instead.

I'm glad this thread is here because I was logging on to make one. This game is awesome!

I got a little worried that it wasn't going to be as awesome as bioware games normally are; not exactly sure why. But my worries were for naught.

The game is huge (I've played 23 hours and only cover 40% 0f the game area). Their are so many choices. All the stories interweave.  I am playing the human noble as a sadistic power hungry type this play thru, and I was in the dwarf city, and before I made some decisions there I started a noble dwarf story just to get some background on the plot. Its very cool stuff.

What originally I thought was going to be something to just tide me over to ME2 has turned out to be something I am looking forward to waking up early tomorrow morning to play.

I think the only thing that would have made it better (I think the grafx are just fine) would be to have the main characters lines voice acted like commander sheppard.  I actually find myself saying the lines out loud every now and then in some of the more dramatic scenes... And luckily no one has been around for that.

Thanks Bioware and all the devs who put this together. This is already one of my favorite rpgs and I've played a lot.

I'm adding my tip of the hat to the pile. BioWare I am so darn impressed and addicted to this game I bought a second copy for my girlfriend. Not just so she can have her own and I can play mine without pause but because I want to support your company and hope you guys/gals continue to make such amazing games.

I was going to start a thread just like this. This has to be the best RPG I've played since the OLD Ultimas series. The graphics are not top-notch, no, but I don't care since the rest of the game is so incredible. Not to mention I think it is very important they make this game so it runs on "most" machines, which means top of the line graphics cuts a lot of people out (especially in this economy).

What worries me a bit is all the "it's too hard" posts. I'm finding 95% of the battles to be a cake-walk on Normal level. I'm wondering if so many dumbed-down; super graphics with simple gameplay; complete lack of tactics type games have made some of our gaming community kind'a lazy-minded and one-key mashers ("I right clicked on the enemy, went to get some snacks, and when I came back, my party was dead, what the heck man, this game is too hard dude"). Posted Image

Good to see a fellow Ultima fan around here hehe. I loved the Ultima series, along with the Wizardry series when I was younger.

This Dragon Age sure is special, so much detail to the world and the characters,etc.. I cant get enough  :)
The "ITS TO HARD" posts are just ridicolous, they make me laugh more then anything. Yes the game is harder then most of hte recent RPGS, but I like it like that, I dont like to breeze thru an RPG without dying once. Since when Is a challenging game a bad thing? Its not CHEAP  hard, its just old school hard and challenging at times.

What bothers me is that some people COMPLAIN about all the talking/dialogue/story?? Since when is a good story with lots of chracter and world development a bad thing? Its simply amazing the amount of detail they put into the games world and all the talk/writing!
Good to see a good amount of good comments here in this thread :police:

For me I cant say its the best RPG ever.. yet at least. As its only been a few days since its release.
But I will say this, Im having as much fun with this game as I have with any of my favorite rpgs of the last 20+ years.

For me this game is already up there with my all time favorites (and even better then some) such as =
- Ultima series
- Wizardry series
- Baldurs Gate1/2
- The Witcher
- KOTOR
- Divine Divinity
- Arx Fatalis
- Neverwinter Nights series
- Planet Torment
- Fallout 1 and 2
- Suikoden 1
- Diablo series
- FF7
- Gothic Series
- Elderscrolls: Daggerfall
- Shenmue1
- Earthbound

Thanks again Bioware, this game is just so fun to play and helps to keep my mind off of my health issues. It really feels like a living and breathign world this game! Fantastic job!

Years down the road it might be my favorite rpg of all time, but right now I can say without a doubt that this is the GAME OF THE YEAR and the best rpg in years without a doubt.

Have to agree. Been a long time since a single player game drew me in (play a lot of MMO's) but loved BW products and always willing to give them a go. Never let me down, and this is no exception. I find myself reading everything, madly hovering over everything on the screen to find more things to read and generally emersing myself in a rich, detailed and engaging world. The combat and tactics system (with pause) help us old timers without twitch reflexes (but keen minds) become engrossed in the battles and the voice acting is second to none, possibly the main reason why the game shines.

As for the graphics being a topic of intense debate I can only say it adds to the overall brilliance of the game not by its detail but by its appropriateness. It's a gritty, rugged world and the its shown as such. I give it a thumbs up, and the game two thumbs up (and probablya couple toes as well). Well done all involved, give yourselves a well deserved pat on the collective back. Posted Image

hehe, two thumbs and two toes up haha, thats the first time I have heard that bud ;)

I had it pre-ordere as soon as the collector's edition was announced and am not dissapointed.

the only "flaw" I see is that despite the excellent facial animations in dialogues, it feels static, since the hair is not animated. Also armour is so nicely designed, but the difference in leather or metal is somehow, dunno, bleak. Still, 10 out of 10 so far from me.

Got my hands on the game yesterday evening...

I knew it was going to be awesome but nothing (not even the character creator that was available prior to launch) prepared me for HOW awesome it really is. How stuff looks, the story... amazing, simply amazing.

I also agree. My impression after 32 hours is that it is one of the best games I have played since I began with this hobby 25 years ago. Maybe even the best, but that's of course something that's a bit early to say for certain yet.

-great story

-amazing battles

-finally a game that is a bit challenging, at least on hard dificulty.

-I actually like all joinable npcs, they are all excellently written

-everything is almost perfectly balanced, as far as I know. Every ability and spell can be useful

-You don't get an endless supply of health potions/money/overpowered weapons/good armor. So it actually matters where you spend your money, and when you use your consumeable items.

-Not every battle is the same, sometimes you run into a much more challenging battle in the middle of a dungeon. Not a boss battle, but still much harder than other encounters. I like this a lot, and I guess these are the difficulty-spikes some reviewers complain about. Personally, I love them. A problem with some other games is monotonous battles that are all the same, with no encounter-variety.

It's certainly the best RPG made in the last few years, but about that Voice Acting...
Although Alistair is probably the best VA I've heard in a video game, what the hell is with that French accent? (Leliana)? Is Orlais supposed to be France? Even its capital is pronounced in a French way(Val Royeaux). It sounds a bit out of place.

And the dwarves? In pretty much every RPG (including Bioware's prequels) dwarves had a distinct accent and it added a lot to the atmosphere. Now they speak perfect American English.

I dunno its kinda nice to have some french influenced areas to the game. Kinda refreshing too me.  Especially since what I have picked up from the game so far is that they are a power to be feared a little.

American is a accent tho :P  To me it sounded like they had one voice actor voice almost all of the male dwarfs to me and it sounds like a poor Mark Hamil impersonation.  I dunno maybe its just me.

The Antivan one I am still trying to put my finger on.

Edit: The commercial just ran back to back as I posted this.

Leliana looks a lot more bad ass in the trailer then she seems in the game (double clothes line ftw I guess) not enough dwarf love in it, and maybe it is why some complain about the graphics they expected to look like the commercial...

Overall the voice acting is great but there are times it just seems like they rushed it and it really throws me off. At least those poor parts are far and few inbetween.

I've been playing rpgs for over 25 years. Anyone who is a die hard fan of rpgs knows that dragon age is among the best ever made. Its rare you see the latest cutting edge graphics in a game like this. It takes a lot of time to make a game with depth like this and graphics advance way to fast to keep up with. Also the amount of code it takes to make this game possible demands a lot from your CPU. You might see a game with far better graphics but doesn't have nearly as much depth in ability's, tactics and A.I. Lets support BioWare and buy 2 copy's or more. Or buy it for a friend.

Many of us wait years for a game just like this.

I just finished my first play through as a human Noblemen warrior. I'm at a loss for words how awesome it was. I was actually sad when it ended because I didn't want it to stop. It reminded me of one of those rare books that you simply can't put down because you have to see how everything works out.
Gonna start a new game. Diabolically evil Mage =

What's up Kozzy, I completely agree with you. I have the 360 version (my rig sucks, lol) and I did just start my first Origin, but this game is everything I knew it would be. I remember whe I heard about Dragon Age right after the launch of Jade Empire, when it was PC only. Wasn't interested in the console ports at first but Bioware never fails.
