I don't know enough about EA to care about them either way, I have few questions myself though.
Does EA provide funding for Biowares work, say ME2?
If so how much funding?
Is it possible that funding for said work played a factor however big or small with the overall quality or quantity of ME2?
Bioware is a subsidiary of EA. This makes them separate legal entities.
The creators/leaders of Bioware are currently executives within EA, as well as heads of Bioware.
It's likely that EA provides a great amount of funding for Bioware projects*.
*- exception being SWTOR, which is a Lucas Arts funded project.

Everyone should hope that their new strategy of focusing on quality titles pans out and makes them money; I don't see how a megapublisher who is making money off good games is a bad thing. They'll only make more of them in the future.

Interesting. If you don't mind me asking and if you know, how much money went into developing ME1 compared to developing ME2 and what were the time frames/limits on developing both games.
If I weren't so lazy I'd go look at both games credits and see what changed, what other factors played a role.

- EA is still evil, but its not with a capital E anymore. Its more of a benign dictatorship now.
- They no longer abuse their developers.
- Riccola has actually changed the way they operate to the point where the stockholders are considering removing him.
- They haven't tried to scrub history (and their wiki) in months.
Otherwise they might get someone like Kotick... **shudder**

Exactly the same is true for EA acquiring BiowareCascadus wrote...
No. Always separate Blizzard from Activision. Activision can go burn in hell. Blizzard is still one of the greatest developers ever and I will cover my ears and go 'lalala' at the concept that Blizzard has been contaminated by Activision's poison.
And I don't get how getting bought by EA has meant BioWare has suddenly gone downhill. Dragon Age: Origins was fantastic, and ME2 has been the best experience of a game I've had in ages. The only real difference I've seen with BioWare pre-EA to post-EA is the fact I need to sit through another logo before getting to the good stuff. EA's gotten a lot better, with their focus on more original IPs and releasing some genuinely awesome games (like Dead Space and Mirror's Edge). And then it's rather disappointing to me, in that BECAUSE EA has taken this new direction, they've lost millions of dollars while Activision has risen to the top due to their 'only release sequels, innovation is for losers'.

Over time they will influence the quality of the Bioware Games and my fear not to the better

Those who say EA 'corrupted' Bioware into focussing on action have a selective memory and forget Dragon Age was published by EA and had much more depth in roleplaying than some of Bioware's previous offerings like Jade Empire. ME2 is more suited to action than fiddling around with "+2 hats" and "+3 gloves" and streamlining the RPG elements seems more like a developer than publisher decision.
I don't care much for most of EA's sport games but don't forget they both developed and published Dead Space which was one of the most interesting games of 2008. Nothing about that game hinted at "screw the art, it's all about the cash."

Try playing *any* of the games from the C&C / RA series without their expansions, except C&C1 and Dune:Emperor, and you'll *know* how it feels to play a game that has part cut out from it. Selling unfinished games to later milk out the title with must-have expansions used to be EA's corporation strategy. But gladly, they're slowly moving away from it. They're still interrested in the idea of developing modular games where people can add expansions or DLC's (which are actually micro-expansions). But selling unfinished games bit them in their behind pretty hard, so they've defenitly moved the ballance and their focal points.
And I must say, All the late EA games show more love for the art of making computer games than Activision has lately. All the expansions to games like WoW, all the additions available to the music games, are nothing but warming up the same old thing they've already developed, adding new textures over an old model to cut costs, developing 1 new item model and then using it over and over and over again. And the masses gladly pay 10-15 bucks a month for this skulduggery. So yes, I must say Activision has definitely taken the lead in the industry regarding total lack of respect for their customer base and milking out the masses.
While EA is definitely moving back towards the creation of quality and respect for their customers.

- Buy up the competition so they dont have to do **** for themselves
- Close down studios that under perform to their expectations
- Force studios to rush games and pump out crap

This must be the most stupid song ever, I mean EVER!!! If the goal for the companies is to make as much money as they can, then the gamers should do the same:
There's nothing wrong with Pirating
There's nothing wrong with free sharing
Don't try to make me feel guilty
I'm so tired of hearing you cry
There's nothing wrong with saving some profit
If you ask me I'll say it's just fine

I'm so tired of hearing you whine
