Violent past looking for redemption, fighting for the good guys, wants to prove that not all his people are evil.
Hides his face and has learned to speak English without letting on what he really is, his reveal could be a major plot twist in the game.

DAO
My DOG first and foremost, I want him/her back
Alistair - to continue the romance
Sten - because I hated him the first couple of games but then found his way of speaking a refreshing change
Zev - his comments keep me amused out on the road
Morrigan - with no more dark rituals and a bit less Alaistair baiting that gets boring
Shale - as that shy Dwarf female she once was
DAA
Nathanial - he has a lovely voice and manner, possibly romancable
Anders - he sound almost identical to Alistair, but a different personality again possibly romancable
Justice - he was OK
That's if we could have 9 party members if not then Justice and Zev can go.

(Althouuuuuuughhh I have a bit of an interest to see how a romance would play out with Nathaniel and my orlesian character if there was a romance mod in the pipelines, there is something about him that is so sweet and dreamy, I think he needs lots of cuddles
Ahh and I really would NOT like to see Valena or Morrigan again as both of them are bits of itches.
I love the humour that DA writers instill in the characters and the personalities and am quiet happy to leave it to their imaginations!
PS!!!! Oh I just read the post above!! Yes I would love dog back too!!

It may be considered "true to character" for Alistair or Leliana act that way but possessiveness and high-handed ultimatums are not true to Morrigan's or Zevran's established characters.
So i would like to see relationships in the future be consistent with the personal values and philosophies of the characters. I don't welcome having "high maintenance" relationships with every character.
That said, I would like to see Morrigan and her strangely-conceived offspring reappear ...
would like to see Shale again (she was the last warrior standing in the final onslaught in my first playthrough, then disappeared so I couldn't even thank her); Zevran (or someone like him) for comic relief and irreverence; someone like Wynne with her superb healing skills (a great contribution to the team) although preferably a tad less serious. Alistair would be more interesting if he had an evil twin (and players could hardly tell them apart). And one of them could be a Vampire, i guess.... vampires used to be more interesting before they became commonplace.

BTW, I'd also like to see Isabela back, as a romanceable NPC. Why not? (We only rode her boat once, some of us wouldn't mind future voyages. Heh heh.)
I think I liked all the Awakenings char and wouldn't mind seeing some again, perhaps to get to know them as well as the Origins cast.

I'm not sure if Morrigan will ever be a party NPC again, for sure. But who knows. (She would need to find a good babysitter.)
Well consider how Bioware handled a a baby in BG2 with Aerie- just chuck it in the inventory like Ser Pounce-a-lot!

I'd like to see human characters who aren't nobles or mages. I want some chasend warrior or someone with a curse. It would kick some if you could get some sort of spirit posesssed being or damon on your team, even if only temporarily. I loved the Fade. It might be cool if there was a storry where your character can become cohabited by a demon as part of a deal. Make mistakes and the daemon with take over... but handle the daemon well and it will cooperate. But then I never found the idea of demons as burely evil and cruel to be very chalanging nor realistic. Such a religious notion. The idea of demons and spirits having their own needs and desires that can ether lead to mutually benificial arangements or confrontation and a fight for survival seems more realistic than 'they be evil cuz they want destroy the leaving! they just jealous!' That's sort of lame.
The demons weren't exactly evil. They just worked to satisfy their needs and wants with no regard to human life. Seeing as how they regard humans as below them its no different then how humans acted to the elves taking the elven women who caught their attention against their will.
Characters
I would like to see Morrigan return definetly she was one of the most intresting characters definetly.
Allistar too but the rest didn't really seemed too attatched too the main objective of the story to stop the darkspawn. Allistar being a grey warden and morrigan having her own agenda with or without your character they would've had to fight the darkspawn. But the rest just followed your player and without him would have no cause.
Oh and the dog would be nice to have back .

If that's the case, then they should bring back the romances for one expansion and give us some closure for are warden.

Someone from the Anderfels, Tevinter Imperium, or Rivain
A Chasind
...And that's all. I lack creativity for new companions; I just want to know more about other nations.
OLD
Oghren
Alistair
Shale
Nate Howe
Ser Gilmore
NOT
Female Qunari (as it probably wouldn't make sense)
Any sort of vampire
Robots.
Juvenile swordsmen/archers/etc.
Real giants

Mentioned in a previous thread, but:
A "cured" abomination. Wynne once mentioned to Shale that an abomination can become human again, more or less, but are still changed in some ways forever. I'd like to see an abomination with a human (or maybe elven) "soul" but with all that awesome demonic strength.
Having a grown-up Connor as a companion would be interesting... the ending mentioned something being off about him, I'd like to see what exactly.

On topic, I hope there are brand new companions, only with cameo's from some of the old ones, especially if we play a new character and not our Grey Warden. I would love to walk into a Brothel in Antiva and find Zevran working there (who has no connection with your new character), reduced to a life of debauchery and fulfilling his leather fetish...er, yea.
