i don't understand the hang-ups folks have with dwarves and mixed-race romance. one person's taller, what's the big deal? it's not like the warden's getting his or her bone on with a darkspawn.

how can you not take dwarves seriously after meeting the legion of the dead? baddest dudes in the 'verse.

Kardol was to me what Teagan is to human ladies. Kardol is just pure testosterone. *fans self*

I never really understood why everyone loved the human noble origin so much until I played the dwarf noble and I had a new respect for it. I love my dwarf noble, even if I do have to run a little slower on my little legs...I think I'll always love the elves the most though, no question.

I've always really liked the culture and civilization of dwarves in general...from DOA to Lord of the Rings. I just like the whole clans system that their culture is based on. I like that they're fighters, I like that they're quick to anger, but are very hospitable hosts. I like that they value honor and clan above all else.

Generally they just remind me of the Arab culture, and since I'm Arab, I tend to really like their way of life.

About the romance thing, my first character was a male Dwarf and naturally I wanted to get as many achievements as possible on the first playthrough.  The PC Dwarf-Zevran romance scene was not something one would want to remember...or look forward to. :crying:

I don't understand why Bio chose to make dwarves and elves so human-like, sad vestiges of glorious races lost to the ages. It really took the fantasy out of the game and made me wish I was playing Golden Age instead.

I refuse to play DA dwarves; they are really just short humans, and just as political, with little feet and horribly out-of-place accents. I understand that Bio wanted a more original world, but what they made is too light on fantasy and homogeneous.

I have to admit that the Dwarf model isn't that great in DAO. They all look like Warwick Davis (the movie Willow) in body structure.

Yeah that's real life Earth dwarves, but not very practical for fantasy dwarves who are badass warriors with higher STR and CON than ordinary humans.

Fantasy dwarves need this body type:

They're 50% stockier than a muscular human, and although they're called "dwarves", they're actually still around 4-5 feet tall. Fighting barehanded with a dwarf should be like trying to wrestle with a gorilla -- they kick your ass.

Dwarves are fun to play as and I like being the mini tank.  I always liked the scenes where my group met someone and the dwarf tank/leader is the shortest member of the group.  It reminded me that I was playing a videogame, and one in a fantasy setting.

However, it does feel more natural playing as a human in the game.  All of the major players in the game are human, and there are so many references to religion and the chantry in the game.  My dwarf felt kinda out of place when speaking of the chantry, Andraste, or when someone would ask my dwarf to pray with them.

I'm distraught about the fact that as a street Elf, I won't be able to marry Alistair. If I can't, then I'm sure a dwarf can't, and to me that only leaves one other option; A noble human I shall be!

I'd like for my male human noble to marry Anora and become king, but that also means that Loghain has to be spared.  At least picking who to sacrifice at the end would be an easy choice.

One of my Dwarven female PCs has been casting her eyes in Sten's direction.  Too bad he's not a romance option; I think it'd be hysterical.

I could never bring myself to play as a dwarf, they are just, IDK I find it harder to myself as one, especially as I am such a tall person.

I prefer Elves myself, I like being the outcast xD

I love dwarves in this game. And in general, I suppose. The dwarven noble origin was my favorite in the game, and my female dwarf is my favorite of all my characters. As far as the romance goes, I think my fem dwarf (whom I worked on very diligently to make her attractive) and Alistair look pretty good together.

I have to admit that Adal Helmi is the hottest female dwarf I've ever seen in my life.

And no, I do not have a short/dwarf fetish at all. She just instantly caught the eye of my male Human Noble as he walked through the street of the Diamond Quarter.

I suspect that this may be a budget issue on their part. I remember reading something similiar a while back on why the female models had the male animations (they both walk, fight, and sit the same). It might have been easier to shrink them down vertically so all three races could still use the same animations. Just a theory.

And I remember that Willow movie, sheesh. I am resisting the urge to see what happened to Warwick Davis because it'll make me feel that much older. =p
