Hello, this is my first post on these forums.

When ME 2 was still coming out, but there was plenty of info about it already i was worried for some reason. I did not like the fact that more emphasis was put on combat, guess i was afraid it would hurt the rpg side. I did not like alot of the characters like subject zero, she looked like some skank ho with a potty mouth and Grunt was some dumb violent Wrex wannabe brute.
Since i was a big fan of the first Mass Effect game i still decided to buy the game and it is certainly one of the best games i have played.

Going to make a small list of things and what i liked and/or disliked about them.

Story:
If compared to ME 1,  think it was a lttle weaker, however i can understand this because the main focus was different, building up a team and preparing for the mission.
Also Saren was just an awesome character and most of ME1 was about chasing him. He wasn't some mysterious evil entity or some unknown great evil. He was a regular person, although very charismatic, capable, clever, and overall badass. Hunting a guy like that for me is always more interesting than fighting off the forces of ancient evil.
After learning that the collectors were actually protheans, things got more interesting for me, but i still don't know what to think about the monstrosity at the very end. For now i think i like where the story is going.

Characters:
I had alot of reservations about the squad members. When downloading Zaeed, i was thinking to myself that why couldn't Bioware come up with someone else than a jango fett wannabe and was pretty much already hating the guy. Half way through the game i absoulutely loved every squad member. In my opinion there was not a single cliche character among them.

I liked the fact that you could become friends with the characters, like Thane and i thought the bro hug with Jacob was a nice touch.

I did not like that there was so little dialogue with the squad members and no dialogue between them, with the exception of the fight between Jack and Miranda and Legion and Tali. And both of those were conflicts.
Since the main focus of the game is about the loyality of the team, there really should be some real bonding between them and between them and Shepard.

The outfit system of the characters was fine in my opinion, but seeing Miranda running around on a collector ship in high heels was just plain ridiculous.
In the future maybe every character could have a combat outfit when out in the field. Also i would very much like to change the colours of the outfits like Shepards armor, to have their combat outfits match camo of my armor and the enviroment. White bodysuit in an outdoors enviroment does not seem like something professionals would wear.

Gameplay:

Love the combat, it is superior to ME1 combat in every aspect. I had a some very cool moments where i felt like i was fighting for every inch of ground, never had that in ME1.

I like the new inventory system, lugging around all that stuff in ME1 seemed stupid to me. Picking the guns upfront made it feel like i was actually preparing for the different  missions, choose your kit and go to work.

I also like how upgrading works now and even like the scanning, hated it first, but then i realised i actually don't have to deplete every planet in the milky way.

The leveling system is maybe my biggest gripe, i think it was dumbed down a bit too much. In ME1 there was alot of skills and skillpoints and it was a bit hard to see the difference of having 6 or 7 points in shotgun skill for example, but only having 4 skills per character and 4 ranks in each is lacking.
I like the evolving of powers and i certainly see the difference with each rank purchased, but i hate the lack of flexibility to shape my characters a bit.

I liked the Mako and miss it, the exploring in ME1 was so-so, cool at times, boring at other times. The N7 mission are cool, if a bit short and the maps pretty small and linear, although much more detailed and interesting.

The future:

I would like to see more going on between the squad and the crew, random talks and little fights about mundane matters, to make them more real, living on a ship all cramped togheter would cause all sorts of situations.
More dialogue with squad members, really becoming a team, id like the squad members to acknowlage each other more and see them transforming from capable individuals into a capable team.

A more flexible leveling system, nothing like in ME1, but more than in ME2.

The Mako or something like that back, maybe have a few N7 missions with planets specificly for exploring uncharted territory.

Shepard is supposed to be a elite solider, id like to see more side missions with him dealing with more alliance, council or cerberus matters. Work with other soliders, specters, or cerberus operatives. Work on some more traditional military operations, there are bound to be plenty of those going on in the background.

Anyway these are my collected thoughts about ME 2

Thank you

I do agree that Mass effect 2 was lacking the whole OMMMPH of mass effect 1 .. Outside of the prothean being the collector .. We learned absolutly nothing. Not much surprise either. The last boss was boring.I think it's the god of war syndrome .. adding Huge ass boss.

I hope in ME3 they add more OOMPH and less Pfff.

And i do agree..We have seen Zero spectre.Outside of Nihlus that was headshoted at the beginning of ME1 and Saren was lost the spectre status at the beginning of ME1 .. It's like we're the only spectre running around in the galaxy.
