humans are both black and white just as asari are blue and purple.simple.

So, do purple Asari have to work twice as hard to get ahead? Is that why we see so few? Do you think the Asari are ready for a purple Justicar?

I dont think their skin color matters its more of a non-pure blood vs pure blood thing.

All you humas are racist... and they have a purple president, and a green secretary of state.

The asari bartender on illum talks about this a bit, seems they can dye/change their skin/scalp colour for whatever reason they desire ;P

Every species shows genetic variation in this game (humans the most but that has to do with some of the story). Just another reason I love Mass Effect... realism.

I believe it's based on what species their father was, take some of the asari facial markings, those are determined by the father's species, seeing as how purebloods have neither varied skin tones or facial markings

Actually, I think ambient lighting is the culprit. I think all asari are ostensibly some shade of blue, ranging from an aqua to a somewhat violet hue. But in some light the violet-blue asari can look purplish. The most notable examples in ME1 that I can think of are Shiala on Feros and Rana Thanoptis on Virmire.

Also, exposure to the Thorian can affect an asari's skin color, turning it green.

Shiala is green because she has been implanted with thorian spores. When they take root she will become a new thorian and enslave Zhu's Hope.

The Purple ones are good at basketball but are very scary to the blue ones.... also only THEY can say that they are purple to each other.

If I'm not mistaken the purple ones "dye" their skin (similar to many humans dying their hair). There's a purpleish Asari commenting about going back to her natural colour in ME2.

Erm...the same way some human's are Black/Asian/Hispanic/White/etc/etc. It's ignorant to imagine that there wouldn't be genetic differences between alien species as well as our own.

i notice that hybridized asari are more attractive than purebloods.

They are still 100% asari, so not technically a hybrid.
