Who's in your party?
I usually have Morrigan with me and rely on her spells, particularly Sleep, Horror, Force Field, Crushing Prison and Cone of Cold. Any CC spells are a benefit here since there are so many assassins in the room. Also, if you aren't playing a rogue, make sure to bring Leliana with you to disable the traps that Jarvia retreats behind. I also usually wind up using some poisons and grenades. In my experience it helps if the remaining two party members are warriors.
I hope that helps.

I have in my party, Allistar, Wynne and Zevran.
And that does help. I never thought of using Leliana. Thank you so much!

Can't you pull out her henchmen, and fight them one by one at the doorway?
Anytime I have trouble with a fight on Dragon Age, I look for the nearest doorway. They are the bane of all things evil and malignant.

Is Leske with her? I played Dwarf Commoner and Leske (part of that storyline) was with her, which made it very hard.
If he is, then I had my tank take him and some henchman out by the doorway, had Wynne heal him, Morrigan spam Aoe while my warden kept Jarvia busy with stuns and interrupts. Then when the situation at the door was better it was easy.
If Leske isn't there, then just have the mobs tanked while Jarvia is CC'd.
For the record i do it with rogue, 2 mages and a warrior. If you are not a rogue, then take leiliana and drop a mage or a warrior, whatever you aren't.
Hard fight. Lots of traps in the room too. Try to pull some of the pack away. Leave Jarvia until last unless you can burn her down fast.

I can't leave the room. The door closes behind me when you start fighting and you can't open it again.

Hmm.. do you use those tactics things?
"if Alistair is lower than 80% health, Wynne/Morrigan casts heal"
"if Alistair is lower than 50% health Alistair drinks potion"
"if Wynne/Morrigan is under 30% mana they drink mana potion".
Having something like that set up might help :-) Otherwise keep trying, you will get it!!

Hmm...I might be thinking of a different fight. Pretty sure it was Jarvia, though. Might have been Arl Howe...
Out of curiosity, what platform do you have it for? There are actually a fair number of differences between the three. I seriously remember baiting her goons, then going in and ganging up on her...

You don't need to do the tactics things for most of the game, but i found they helped me on the very very hard bosses. If you are losing because Alistair is dying, then simply set up something like
"at 80% alistair use health potion on himself"
"at alistair 60% have wynn heal him"
"at 30-40% alistair use health potion"
"under 50% mana and wynn uses mana potion"
That way it loops so unless he takes extreme damage he won't actually die. While this is going on you can keep jarvia busy with your warrior or zevran and use the other character to work on the group. If someone else starts to lose health then set them up with a health potion tactic too.
Its not needed but it can help you if you really really cannot do it any other way.

How close are you getting by the way Flicker?? Are you killing most of the enemies, or none of the enemies? What is it that kills you, who dies first usually? :-)

Tactics can help quite a bit. It requires you to worry less.

If Alistair is taking the heat, you can chain health poutice by using ones that are different grades. Make more sense to start from lesser poultice. Have him take rock salve and incense of awareness to boost his armour and def accordlingly after taunting. Have any available heal spells and def buffers on him if you can eg. regen, glyph of warding, heroic defence. After he gain threat move him to a corner (corners by the doorway seems good) to minimise the number of enemies that can engage him at once.
On top of survivability, use any CC you have to control the melee near alistair.

I had Wynne, Shale, Alistair, and myself, and archer. Having two tanks lets you perform more DPS, considering tanks do decent damage. One loses threat, the other gains it. It works very well, with Wynne hardly having to heal considering the large amounts of health on Alistair and Shale. Good strategy in my opinion.
Good luck!

I'll put Sten in and see if that works. And if it doesn't, I think I will just come back to this mission later when my character has gained more higher levels.

I play on PS3, and I just did that fight today as a dwarf rogue so Leske was there too.
I had never really used shale in my playthroughs, so I decided to give it a try as a tank. Anyone who hasn't done this...give it a try. Shale owns!
Shale generates so much aggro when built defensively...it almost feels like cheating. Shale grabbed aggro for pretty much everyone in the room...had Wynne cast glyphs on Jarvia so she was pretty much helpless while Shale, Lel, and myself beat down her minions.

Well I still can't beat her. I was close the last time and I died. I have Morrigan in my party now and she helps a lot. But I still manage to die. I can't download Shale only because I don't have internet right now. I tried doing other mission to become stronger so I can defeat Jarvia. But I think I ran out of missions to do...

Shale sucks for that fight, honestly. She's vulnerable to backstabs and knockdowns--probably the worst tank you could take there. If you tried the strategy I demonstrate, and it's not working for you, try keeping everyone right in the area you start in--don't let yourself get pulled further into the room.
OR, run through the trap to the right into the room in the back corner.

I did it with Shale and my rogue. Had a mage for CC, and a mage for healing.
Shale Blue Aura. Just have everyone stand back in the blue aura and let them come to you. Use the rogue to mop up. If they stand back draw them in with a bow.

Jarvia's one of the toughest fights in the game.
Watch the videos in Soteria's signature. They help a lot. Pay attention to the circumstances under which Jarvia summons more help.
If you're not pausing constantly and micromanaging everyone in the party, you should set everyone's tactics to drink potions and cast Heal. AoE spells are also very useful in this fight because they hit the stealthed characters that you cannot otherwise target.
