Origins DLCs pointless now?

So aside from the obvious fun of the new gear, aren't the DLCs pretty pointless now that we know they won't carry over into Awakening?  Presumably, if there's a Dragon Age 2, you would import from Awakening or whatever expansion comes after it.  So if the DLCs don't carry over into Awakening, doesn't that mean they essential never happened?  You never got Shale, you never re-took Warden's Keep, you never gave Cailen a proper burial.  All of these things are kinda important in their own way, and it just seems really lame to have them no longer matter into the expansion and any future games.
Anyone know anything new?  I'd love to be proven wrong, cause right now it seems like the DLCs were just stripped of all meaning.

Well, there's no evidence to suggest DA2 will be a direct sequel and plenty of evidence to suggest that it won't, so it's likely to not be an issue. That said, I wouldn't expect DLC to carry over from game to a sequel. For it to not be compatible with an EXPANSION though, is something altogether new and wonky.

DLCs are practically worthless now. All of them except Shale's offer Equipment.

Shale becomes useless after Origins it seems.

And since it's DLC, the story will either not matter, will come into the plot later anyway, or can be read online.

Great... so after all that with the DLCs, especially RTO, it's pointless past Origins...

That's just not smart.

I reckon it won't, at least with the Awakening. Mainly because you're in the new region, months have passed between in Origins and the expansion and you're more focused on the current storyline (maybe you won't be as free to roam around Thedas as you could've in Origins). But basically, burying Cailen and recruiting Shale does seem irrelevant at this point because you have more pressing issues, but retaking Warden's Keep should at least be mentioned or something.

I guess it's that it would be hard to implement. I mean, there should be some dialogues, and items on Awakening for those that have the DLCs? Maybe for items it looks bizarre, but I guess that making dialogues on these minimal choices would be extreme. It's not like we will be getting recognition for finishing the Mages collective or chanter's board either.

It's not pointless if you plan to play through the game in the future. It is pointless if you don't.

Fair enough.  I think the one that REALLY bugs me is Warden's Keep.  That place is sweet, and I just know that somewhere down the line something will come up where some NPC will say "if only the wardens had a stronghold in northern Fereldan" and I'll just sigh.  A deep, heavy sigh.

It's not pointless if you enjoyed them and if they helped you in any way in Origins.. Awakenings is like an expansion-sized sequel. I definitely wouldn't call it an expansion though. It does not expand romance, continue with gear, or allow for many decisions to be implemented.

Definitely a -1 for no DLC gear in Awakening, but I still am glad I got to enjoy them in Origins.

Well if you bought them for the gear and not the expierience of doing them...I guess? Here's a reason to rejoice though, there will be gear in the expansion and the sequel too.

I would wait and see what the game sticks us with. Starfang might look like a broken twig with a piece of dog crap on the end of it compared to the new stuff. Maybe. If not, I'm sure there will be a slew of mods reproducing DLC items that you can use in Awakening.

Nobody in their right mind would get DLC just for the items in a single-player game. But I don't particularly enjoy losing content that I paid for.

Amarathine is also in Northern Fereldan, so I doubt they'll say that.

Did you really buy the DLC in anticipation for a sequel? Are you buying Awakening because it might xfer to DA2? Will you buy DA:2 because the gear will transfer to DA:3? Sometimes you gotta stick to the moment and enjoy the ride. Not everything will always carry over. It's not an mmo.

There is absolutely no good reason for it not to transfer over though while everything else that isn't dlc does. Other games don't have this issue, Bioware have never had this issue before.

So does that mean future expansion[if there is any] will probably do the same(transfer no DLC items)? What my character did in DLC has no impact on "Awakening" makes me feel upset already...

Oh don't get me wrong. I do think it's stupid. But I don't think it calls for completely swearing off DLC forever. The DLC was never advertised as "gear out your character with sweet gear that will carry over forever". Do I think DLC should carry over? Yes. Will I stop buying it if it doesn't? Probably not.

You finally get a good looking sword (aka Duncan's) and then it's stripped away.

Duncan's cutscene sword > Duncan's lootable sword.

Overall i find that the dlc for DA:O keeps the game fresh due to new quests as well as an amazing looking armour in the form of the kings armour which has just been released a few weeks ago.
