Origins DLCs pointless now?

I quit, not purchasing the expansion, and will likely sell/trade Dragon Age now that I'm done with it.
It was good while it lasted though =3

If you enjoyed the DLC and the equipment you got from it helped you in Origins, then nothing about it was a waste. Besides, you would replace it in 5 min of gameplay.worksa8 wrote...

My characters are mostly based off certain armor sets- I feel no compulsion to port even one of them, or play any of them anymore. Thats why I'm upset. it's things I can't replace because I don't see them remaking the exact same armor sets+stats all over again.Angel of Nessus wrote...

It wasn't a wate in Origins that is true- but to me it is a waste in this "expansion", that seems less and less like an expansion each day.

Maybe you should make characters based less on crunch and more on fluff? Min-Maxing for armor sets is pretty lame, imo.worksa8 wrote...

Also it's a bit more complicated then what you just said there, there are other reasons to that armor choice as well. Also I feel a little ripped off as well, like Bioware isn't listening to anything the players want.

I wanted it to work in Dragon Age 2, Mass Effect 3, The Old Republic, and Half-Life 2: Episode 3!
I can't believe that Bioware would let me down like this. It's criminal I say for them to mistreat their fans as such. Now I'm going to complain while I buy Dragon Age: Awakenings.

I really don't think anyone has gotten that bad about it. Is it really so retarded to think your DLC will work in an expansion? I can understand DLC not porting into sequels. Le duh. But this is as stupid as not being able to use the items from Warden's Keep while you play through Return to Ostagar.
It just doesn't make much sense that items from the base game-- quite clearly designed "only for Origins"-- are portable into the xpac, but DLC items-- quite clearly designed after the game was finished and should have been easily integratable into future products-- are not. At least, given their reasoning, which I personally don't believe, being paranoid and accusatory and all.

It's nothing new for those 3vil EA 'suits' - I tried to access BDtS from Halo and they wouldn't even let me. What the duck?

This isn't a problem with other games or even previous Bioware games, why should it be now. I'm absolutely disgusted by this and though I'm sure I will eventually purchase this expansion it's going to be a pre-owned copy.

Yeah. It's not like you could finish the original game and then buy the DLC. Oh wait, you could.
So yes, it was a waste to me ( and, I suspect, to a lot of other people ), especially considering that RtO, for example, was pretty light on the story side, consisting mainly of half an hour of grinding and looting.
At least we had a new armor with a cool skin, right?
Now, I'm not mad at Bioware...I'll still buy Awakening. However, Awakening is supposed to be an expansion: you can import your character and gear. Since I paid for both the gear I found in Origins and the gear I found in the DLC, I expect to be able to import said gear, even if I'm going to replace it in a matter of minutes.
As for the "it's a single player, equipment doesn't matter" argument: if equipment didn't matter, you can be damn sure that Bioware wouldn't bother adding it with new DLCs.
Equipment DOES matter: people grow attached to their characters, which happens to include their stats and looks.

So aside from the obvious fun of the new gear, aren't the DLCs pretty pointless now that we know they won't carry over into Awakening? Presumably, if there's a Dragon Age 2, you would import from Awakening or whatever expansion comes after it. So if the DLCs don't carry over into Awakening, doesn't that mean they essential never happened? You never got Shale, you never re-took Warden's Keep, you never gave Cailen a proper burial. All of these things are kinda important in their own way, and it just seems really lame to have them no longer matter into the expansion and any future games.
Anyone know anything new? I'd love to be proven wrong, cause right now it seems like the DLCs were just stripped of all meaning.
Yes, you're kind of right since the items won't be carried over and the stories in DLC have no impact on the story... they've become just some story fillers if you ask me. <_<
