Ah well, $100 says they'll be a mod that puts them in within a week.

Doesn't help those of us playing on XBox

They better not make us pay for us to use our DLC items in the expansion. :(

I have a disturbing feeling that is exactly what they are going to do.  I can just see it now,  "Return to Soldiers Peak!  Now just $4.99!"  <_<

Why do I get this feeling that they are going to do exactly that.

What really chafes my ass is that Warden's Keep and Stone Prisoner were available for download on day one instead of just including it on the disc so we could use the items in the expansion. What a terrible move all around.

I like to know who's bright idea was it. Not only will this scare off people buying current DLC(since it doesn't carry over why bother getting it), it will also scare off people buying future DLC base on the expansion( 1. Next expansion won't carry over so why bother. 2. This DLC have similar item I purchased for Origin why do I need to repurchase it again). It's shooting yourself in the foot on DLC business model that EA was taunting about.  The more you fumble with DLC the less likely your other game's DLC will do as well either.

Originally, I came into this section of the forum to ask if DLC will be included with the expansion...but after reading about not carry over I see it's not even worthwhile.

I am glad that I did not buy the dlc yet, now I know it is a waste of money - particularly RTO

Before transfering character to Awakening, turn all DLC loot into cash.

Possibly using the Toolset we can create mods for the expansion containing existing DLC?

I'm begining to think it should be: Memo to self: Don't buy any Bioware products as long as EA is their publisher.

Even if mods come out to add in all the lost dlc content/items, relying on the modding community to do so is just flat out silly.

Some of the best pieces of gear I have are promotional items and/or dlc items! Does this mean I'll start off half naked?

What's the point of taking out the items anyway? Doesn't make any sense.

I won't join that crowd.

Instead, count me with the "This is Ludacris" crowd.

...
...
What can I say. I love competition

...
Nah.
Count me in.

So.
Let me get this straight...

MY MAIN character, wearing Cailen's Sword, Cailen's Shield, Cailen's Armor, boots and gloves... A helmet found in the other DLC, one belt found in the other DLC...

...
WHAT THE EFFING **** WILL HAPPEN TO HIM WHEN THAT'S ALL HE'S GOT
BECAUSE HE'VE SOLD EVERYTHING ELSE TO BUY STUFF FOR
FREAKING SHALE AND TO BUY TOMES AND HEALING???

Seriously???
They never ever considered that some players might WEAR Cailen's gear at the endgame, and have sold pretty much everything else of awesome gear, due to the 70 item limitation in the backpack..?

...
One of my fighter characters have done exactly that.

I wish I was kidding, but..: He wears all of Cailen's gear, and uses a maxed up Shale for tanking.
...
I suspect that I'll have to leave one companion who's about the same size as my character, naked in the lair in the expansion, tied up in the bushes -- comedy style.

============================

AND WHY?

To what end?

For what reason?

How could they decide to NOT include SOME Dragon Age: Origins gear in the expansion, but keep some?
Is it random?
Will there be more things missing than DLC?
Is it completely random?
Is it for "balance reasons"?
Will they be able to transfer characters that have odd stat distribution?

WHY is it impossible to put about 50 kilobytes of data into the upcoming expansion, containing the items raw statistics but not necessarily their visual files, just dumping them into some generic item...

I'm on the 360, so I can't get the items back through a freaking mod 2 days after release like everyone on the PC.
...
WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY?

...
It's about now a developer should decend from the heavens and tell us WHY this is so bloody hard when we KNOW ten modders will make ten different mods individually and separatetly within the first 12 hours after release incorporating the items to the PC version.

WHY can't Bioware let ONE of their employees, or his mother, implement the items in each game version during one day at work?
It's no more work than that, we bloody KNOW that.

So. On my sword and board character, I should equip him with Wynne's mage gear, or Leliana's light rogue gear?

Hard to choose, really, which direction I should utterly gimp my high-defense warrior:
Low defense with high dex bonuses, or magically turn into a mage to be able to wear mage specific gear.
Sure, I can just SELL the effing loot to a random merchant, the KING'S gear, and buy some random stuff that DOES transfer...

But like I said: It takes ONE inept fool 12 hours to make a mod.
It'd take a professional 3 hours to mod this.
WHY can't bioware spare 3 hours for one of their programmers to incorporate the DLC items?
Spread it out over one week, and he'll only work 36 minutes overtime each day for a week.

Spread it out over two employers, and supervise them every day of the week, and they'll magically get the DLC items fit into the game WITHOUT them working one second overtime. :police:

Hrm. I regret buying Awakenings now. I could have spent my money on Bioshock 2. Not cool BioWare, not cool.

Great... so after all that with the DLCs, especially RTO, it's pointless past Origins...
That's just not smart.

There is a little thing called "story" that makes it very much different than pointless.

I don't understand not carrying them over into DLC (Fallout 3 comes to mind immediately), but it's not the end of the world folks.

No, but it does create needless confusion and consternation amongst what are, by definition, Bioware's best customers (those who bought the DLC and preordered Awakenings or bought it release day).

Given how quickly the mod fixed this (and how simply), I have to wonder if Bioware really did the cost/benefit analysis correctly.  They are burning a ton of good will one (bare naked) user at a time.
