Just hold down the alt key, and press "236" on the numpad. Let go of alt when you're done and you'll get your infinity symbol.

I will never remember that.

I'm actually pretty worried ME3 will suffer from lack of content due to the limitations of a 360 platform. It really makes me think that ME2 will be ~impossible~ to surpass... which is a damned shame. ME2 was able to rectify ALL of the flaws with ME1 save for one--the overarching plot. And within the constrains of 360 development, I can't see ME3 getting a bang-up plot without sacrificing the depth of character development and side-questing in ME2.

I'd play through 10 disks of mass effect, if I had to.

yeah i know what you mean thats why I am hoping that bioware will be willing to use more discs to make more story, because I think everyone here wants a very intracate resolution to the story, not just a simply follow the path that leads you to the X which blows up the reapers saving the galaxy.  I want unique originallity, I know me so far hasn't been extremely original but I have hope

Dont know what you're missing, sure they dont link steam games to retail games anymore being a bit bastardly now but all my preorders have arrived one or two days early than release so I could mock all my steam buying friends that I've already (more than likely) played and finished it.

Though I suppose the pirate copies generally come out a month before release, or something stupid >.>

Plus it always lowers your broadband useage, is quicker (unless the game requires a relentless amount of patches), and it makes my room look less dull and more interesting.

Well, the Omega 4 relay could help a bit in making disc transitions easier. Devote X# of discs to the "normal" galaxy, and X# to the stars beyond the Omega 4 relay. Maybe bookend everything with a first disc and a last disc to contain the begining and ends of the story, with the middle portion more open ended?

Stores around where i live don't carry pc games and the closest gamestop also doesn't carry pc games or let you preorder them.

But i don't mind steam since they let you start predownloading the game a few days early for most games, and the first and last time i preordred a game and had it mailed to me i got it almost a week late. Besides steam is just so much easier in every way.

Edit: oh and steam auto updates games so no more forgetting to update your game and playing a game with bugs that were fixed months ago lol

To me, the more disks the better. It's a sign of how much work has been put into something when there's just too much awesome to be contained with just one disk.

Any amount will do. But i hope they work out the installation or  disc swap issue with the plot.
I believe we we're meant to be able to recruit the squad-mates in any order but because of the disc swap, missions we're created. why the extra dialogue? :P
could be wrong though :whistle::(

As many discs as it will take to make an awesome, no-holds-barred game of epic proportions. It wasn't that long ago for me when I was swapping out 4 discs for games. I had no problem with it then because those games were more than worth it. If ME3 requires 4+ discs, I will be exuberant...because that means the scale of ME3 is just that much more. :D

Agreed. As many as it takes. Though admittedly I would appreciate 4 or less. Especially if I have to keep changing disks. Speaking of which why do I even need to if I install the game on my 360? Shouldn't disk one be enough to validate I am using a legit copy? I want bigger and more open cities to explore. Illium, Omega and Citadel are implied as being huge but you only get these small sections. Open them up and other places in the galaxy. While I would prefer 4 discs for this if they had to do more I would gladly still play it for the chance to do more in and see more of the galaxy.

So whats the maximum disc count you would be willing to accept for Mass Effect 3?

There is no infinite symbol on my keyboard, so my answer is one-thousand.

Press Alt 236

The more the better. I felt like ME2 could have been longer and lacked a few things, despite being great overall. If more discs are required, have more.

I don't mind disc swapping. Seriously, if having to take out a disc and put a new one in every now and then really bothers you, then you're fricking lazy. Of course, I'm a PC gamer at heart, so it will probably be a non-issue for me.

LOL I didn't realize having too many discs, or needing to change discs was a big deal in buying a video game.

Disgruntled gamer: "I really wanted to play Game XYZ! It looked so cool at E3, but it has 3 discs, so i'm not gonna bother."

Does this actually happen?

I would probably accept about 3 or less. 5-10 discs?!! Now that would be a bit too much of a hassle for me. Especially since I have a Xbox 360 and PC users have to install their discs and they don't have to swap.

You would be surprised. Apparently, moving your arm a little to grab and insert a CD every few hours or so is a real deal breaker for some people and considered a herculean amount of effort. Way to reinforce the 'gamers are overweight, lazy slobs' stereotype we sometimes get saddled with, people!

I wouldn't put a limit on the number of dvd's ME3 will have. As someone else said (in more words or less), BioWare can use as many discs as needed to to publish a truly awesome game.

However, their publisher EA would run into some problems when it releasing the game through online vendors. It already takes quite a while to download 10.82GB, the approximate size of the Digital Deluxe Edition and the software equivalent of the boxed Collector's Edition, which had 2 game discs and a movie disc. Downloading 5 dvd's (random example) worth of data, about 23.5GB, in addition to any deluxe content would be nuts.
