DLC gone...Romances gone...Allies gone...

I made a Paladin character JUST FOR the Cailen armor, now I'm told there is no point in putting him in the "expansion". The armor pretty much made the character visually- and he was my favorite one too...Now I'm so let down. How hard is it to let use take the DLC into the expansion? Is it really worth the sale drops?

Not as long as they don't act like the missing people never existed or disappeared completely. Does make the whole "we'll see the world together" shtick you get from several of your buddies in DAO seem hollow, though.MishenNikara wrote...
I can't speak for the DLC, but losing romances and allies when going to an expansion isn't exactly anything new for games. Are these losses really that shocking?

This was supposed to be an expansion though, it doesn't really expand on anything besides story- actuall content was pretty much removed.
I never thought about it that way, but you are correct.

The actual content being what? New items? New specializations and abilities? New characters? New story? A chance to completely reset your character?
I'm in the same boat as everyone else, 2 of my characters wearing Blood Dragon and the Grey Warden set, both wielding starfang. Its a bit urking, but if this ruins the game and the future ones to come for you then I'm sorry I gotta laugh.

Once more, this was supposed to be an expansion, they are adding some nice new things- but removing old things that were great.
I respect your opinion, but I can't hold that respect if you simply mock me for not sharing the same viewpoint.

The lack of romances makes me need to believe they will be completed in a later expansion (if indeed DA2 isn't a direct sequel).
I bet it will be released as $15 DLC at the EA store for the Awakening expansion only .

I'm not even angry anymore...and thats not good...I just don't care anymore, I literally had my game on pause...and now I don't even know if I feel like playing it again.
That pretty much sums up how I feel; VERY DISAPPOINTED.

It is disappointing, though, that there will be no romances. Because the player's too busy saving the world? In NWN: Hordes of the Underdark, the player saves Toril from being a tenth layer of Baator and defeats a duke of hell, and there's three romancable characters. Valen was the first character I romanced in any game, and I had a lot of fun with him. He really made the game for me. There's no reason expansions can't have romances.

By the time DA2 gets released we will no longer remember or care about romances that happened 2 years ago. Seriously, my PCs marriage to Alistair is now no longer being recognized in the Awakening expansion set only about 6 months after Origins. Which Einstein over at Bioware came up with that awesome storyline continuation?

And then there is NWN2: Mask of the Betrayer where youre months of travel away from the Sword Coast and ya still manage to find out your lover is teh dead or disappear and manages to find 1 romancable human, or if youre female finding the only good looking hagspawn in existance...which is better than nothing at least.
Gann is so dreamy :3

Well, NWN2 is Obsidian, not Bioware, but I do love Gann. He looks like a blue Trent Reznor. And that's a good thing. The characters in MotB were great, and I really liked Gann's romance. And, honestly, his mother in the Skein was creeper than Hespith. "Where have you gone, my son, my son? Gone to rot in the sun, the sun? Please come back, my son, my son. Kill them all, one by one by one!" And then when she sings about bits of Gann's father stuck between her teeth. Yeah.
Anyway, the point is, there's no reason for an expansion not to have romances, even if the fate of the world is at stake.

While I could see a direct sequel or expansion AFTER awakenings dealing with our warden & his/her romances again for a new adventure.
You have a point, Origins was to our characters Pov "the fate of the world" plot.. in that time we still had a romance & buddies. My warden would instantly call up all friends / lover to deal with it once more. Scratch the surface and its just an excuse for lack of time and money.
DLC is what really gets me. Dlc or not, those items were unique - you cannot buy 10x Duncan's swords just anywhere - it is unique/personal and has history, like alot of Dlc items. Not just loot "leather armor +10".
