I am just heartbroken. I was so
looking forward to this expansion, thinking it would expand on an
already awesome game and then this. No DLC content (no Starfang) and
worst of all my love Alistair will not even acknowledge me, it cannot
get any worse. I will just need to drown my sorrows in a a large glass
of wine [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/sad.png[/smilie]
Romances do not carry forward in Awakening, because you are away from your previous life fighting a new threat.
I think he will acknowledge you as you are his wife and the Queen (Princess Consort, whatever) of Fereldon. (Hell, if you stayed on to advise Alister, you are practically the leader of Fereldon.) You just won’t be able to move that romance forward as you will be separated from him. He has to stay home and do King stuff. That’s what I got out of it anyway.

I think I was the very first one saying I wasn't buying the expansion, and that was just back when the price was set at $40. Now we get all this information and I see so many more people jumping on my bandwagon. Let's ride this baby until the expansion is in the $5.00 DVD bin at Wal Mart :-D
Truer words ...

While I'm not thrilled about romances disappearing, I'm more concerned about items I paid real money for magically disappearing either because some douche was too lazy to put in a few lines of code or because EA plans to charge me again for it.lordblue86 wrote...
Maybe the romances are not completely gone, but temporarily suspended because the warden is away to handle some business concerning the hordes still lurking the lands.

It is disappointing, though, that there will be no romances. Because the player's too busy saving the world? In NWN: Hordes of the Underdark, the player saves Toril from being a tenth layer of Baator and defeats a duke of hell, and there's three romancable characters. Valen was the first character I romanced in any game, and I had a lot of fun with him. He really made the game for me. There's no reason expansions can't have romances.
And then there is NWN2: Mask of the Betrayer where youre months of travel away from the Sword Coast and ya still manage to find out your lover is teh dead or disappear and manages to find 1 romancable human, or if youre female finding the only good looking hagspawn in existance...which is better than nothing at least.
Gann is so dreamy :3
NWN2:MoB was an Obsidian game, hence all the bugs and uncompleted storyline.
It's also pretty much like Mass Effect 2 were Ashley/Kaidan/Liara didn't really care about Shepard anymore.

Dragon Age wasn't even really worth
the the money I paid for it in the first place. Dreadfully slow game at
times. The DLC seemed like a copout, especially the keep for item
storage, so I never purchased any of it. Now Bioware won't even support
their own DLC or promotional items in a costly expansion? Pathetic, and
now I'm really glad I didn't buy any of the DLC. Makes me even less
likely to buy DLC for Mass Effect 2 if any are produced that require
extra payment. I'd almost say ditch this expansion and focus on Mass
Effect 3.
Bad, bad move.
Blame EA! If anything goes wrong with a Bioware game now, EA is always to blame!

No, I can blame BioWare just fine thanks. They are closer to the game and the community then a big wig over in EA sales and marketing. Besides anyone with half-a-brain would have know people were going to be upset about not being able to use content they had both paid for and played for.
If this is the result of an EA mandate, shame on BioWare for not sticking up for the users and saying no. If it isn't, then shame on BioWare for either not fessing up to a technical problem or not fessing up to a cash grab. With no more explanation then "you won't be able to use it" the blame falls completely on BioWare.

Same. No DLC transfer, no buy.
Maybe when price drops. But when this happens, there will be other games.

No continuation of the story, Oghren as a favourite companion, no DLC transfer,no romances, more Dwarfen cave grinding, very short expansion. Actually, when thinking about it its got nothing that interests me. Everything about it smells rushed and greedy.

My only hope now, is that they would read what people are writing eveyday in this forum and that they will take this into consideration when they will have to make decisions for future games and expanions.
I'm not saying this game will not be good because we haven't played it, yet.. But I can say for sure that, however this game will be, it will not be what many of us wanted or hoped, and this is the truth...
