This thread seem out of touch with reality, theres David's post on the matter. They havent eliminated romances just put them on *hold* for this expansion/adventure^.

Yes... As I said in another topic maybe these words just mean
"Well... We have postponed our decisions about romances for some times because we have no  idea what we have to do with them... Maybe we still not be able to continue them anyway, so if you don't see them broken this time, maybe you will see it  happening next time...."

As for Oghren, well lets hope this expansion marks the very end of the character either that or we can kill him easily look on the bright side.

If I leave out an ingredient it in this cake but plan to put it in the next cake, it is still eliminated from this cake.

Depending on the ingredient, that could be a pretty nasty tasting cake, one that costs $40 and robs you of $27 of content even.

Metallicka is really ticked about his DLC. Again I say to the game maker gods--Wake up and smell the disgruntled flatulence of your customers!

I share your DLC rage as ive said in other threads being that I brought basic DA: Origins. I paid for Warden's keep, RTO.

Why wouldn't I be? I bought the $75 Collector's Edition, not for the map or the metal case, both of which i could have lived without, no I bought it for exclusive in game content. I preordered, again for content, I played Journeys which I hated and would otherwise have left alone, for content, and last but not least, I payed $7 for Warden's Keep, and $5 for Return to Ostagar. I suppose it can be argued that I got my enjoyment out of that stuff, but when I bought Shivering Isles, my Wizard's Tower didn't disappear.

ok to be true - for example i wanted to see how the world will react in some things

i've done for example ... i was assassin-duelist and murder the librarian with the knife

so the world never learn where are the ashes of andraste or my choice of Teyrn Loghain

(HEHEHE)

Or finally my amazing love with Leliana (i bet in bed she will be amazing :P)

basicly i fall in love with her - when i hear her SINGING !!! :P:p:p (touch me DEEP xd)

But your Wizards Tower wasn't in Shivering Isles now was it. Your items will still be in Origins whenever you load it up to play.

If you're going to use that logic, I was able to bring all the stuff I got in Shivering Isles into the main game.

Heh yeah that was really bad logic there, slapped myself after I posted it. Oblivion/SI and Origins/Awakening are two completely different beasts looking to achieve two completely different things so really it's a poor comparison for either of us to make. I do think you've got an odd way of looking at your purchases though. You bought the DLC ONLY for the items? The purpose the items served was not enough in Origins? It's not like the purchase becomes null and void with Awakening, the items and content will always be there in Origins.

Sure it would have been best if they allowed the items to be brought over, and I'm sure they know that would have been best. But something may have come up, they may have had complications in some form or another, it happens. There may be a solid and logical reason why this decision was made. Really neither you nor I know, given Biowares solid history and track record I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now.

This was supposed to be an expansion.

What it is, is an effing heart transplant. That you don't need.
All we asked for was "more of what we love <3" -- and EA instantly though we wanted heart transplants?

EA scares me. VERY MUCH. :crying:

"Oooh. A heart. They want a new heart. Let's rip the heart out of Origins and transplant it into a pig and call that pig Origins: Awakening!"

When in doubt, blame EA.

It seems to be true, more often than not.

BUT Bioware voluntarily joined hands with EA.
That is kind of scary.

It surprises my how much EA is blamed for what people are disappointed in this expansion. EA doesn't write the story, or decide that only one companion is returning, and its the dwarf that almost no one cares about - its all Bioware on that. I am one of the many that are rather disappointed with what will be missing in the expansion, but let's put the credit or blame where it belongs, on Bioware.

I was excited to hear about Awakenenings, thinking I could continue my adventures with some of my beloved companions, but my excitement is pretty much gone. And Gaider's comment that "you can't just actively pursue" your romances in Awakenings just means nothing. Let's say I live in San Diego, then take a job in San Francisco. I tell my girlfriend that I'm moving for work, I'll be busy so don't bother coming with me, calling or writing - we can still be boyfriend and girlfriend, we just won't actively pursue our relationship. We can pick things up again when/if I move back to San Diego. Yeah, that'd go over well.

From what I've read it wasn't quite as voluntary as you may think.

I guess in Awakening we will just be able to  'passively pursue' our romances then.<_< A bunch of crap, I say.

Now this is a legitimate beef - I bloody well payed money for the downloadable content - those Items were bought and payed for - for them to NOT be importable means I wasted $20 dollars for absolutely nothing. especially when RTO was released maybe 4-5 weeks ago and the expansion is 4 weeks away. way to go bioware for not telling the community that DLC is non importable - bet you NEVER get folks to by DLC again.

If we cry hard enough, maybe they will let DLC from DA:O onto all EA games. Can't wait to draft Shale onto my NHL team once NHL11 is released.

I'd like to know what "old favourite" was based on. So far I have seen more complaints that Oghren is back than praise for the same reason. I for one don't care for him at all. I'd prefer he stayed in Orsammar, or, preferrably gotten drunk and lost in the Deep Roads. He was the last person to join the party. How can you get to know someone so late in the game and have him as favourite?! Feels like he's getting a second chance because of this instead of being the true "favourite".

He can also be one of the first to join the party. The "official" guide recommends this order:
Circle of Mages (for Wynne) > Redcliffe > Urn of Sacred Ashes > Stone Prisoner > Orzammar > Brecilian Forest.
I, however, have done this order on one character:
Redcliffe > Circle of Mages (because I hate it and I like Wynne to be my healer) > Urn of Sacred Ashes and I'm going to be moving on to Orzammar next. I can't remember when I got Shale but I think I got her before Redcliffe.

And, like Mr Gaider said, romances are not gone. They're on pause.

Awakening is an expansion pack - like "Hordes of the Underdark", the last one we did. Most romances in original campaigns don't carry forward into expansion packs (in fact, almost none do). I'm glad we can finally clear that up because people were assuming that in Awakening we were carrying all of the romances forward. I don't know where that expectation came from. As Gaider has said elsewhere, we certainly aren't retconning those romances. They happened, they are a part of your character's life. But you're very busy in Awakening tackling some serious problems. And long-distance communication in Ferelden isn't exactly on the 3G network.

To add something :

Warden : "As a Grey Warden I will never lead a normal life, will I?"

Wynne : "No, you won't."

I think this gives BioWare some protection. They were pointing out already the life of the warden was stressful, also Wynne warned you about romances...

^ Sounds like you havent seen all of Wynne's dialogue, she later retracts that dialogue by stating "you know i think you will both turn out alright even without my help".

But given Ferrets post, it reads same as David's. There are no romances in the Awakening. But there are references. This does not address any future involvement which most are concerned were with.

Its also disappointing to hear Ferret comparing a multiplayer focused game to a singleplayer expansion.
I really didnt find Nwn series all that great taken as singleplayer alone, multiplayer gave me years of enjoyment/still does infact.

i think the point should be, it's WE to decide whether or not we bring along our DLC gears into awakening.. and not allowed to as they commanded. We pay for them, and we should be able to keep them...

I can tell you exactly where that expectation came from.

1. BG II

2. Non-gamers who are more used to fiction than action games ... these are the new customers that you were hoping to keep.
