I can't speak for the DLC, but losing romances and allies when going to an expansion isn't exactly anything new for games. Are these losses really that shocking?
i agree isnt this suppose to continue off of the original game so were are my allies that didnt get killed more and more i read about this expan more and more i wana put off getting it untill its cheaper i wont spend 40 dollars on a expan thats gona take all the fun out of it:(

They do if the player wants them to. If they are like me and they grew attached to the character they sacrificed, then we have the option to assume something happened to allow us our survival. People who can't come up with a plausible story on their own and **** at BioWare for not force feeding them one have no imagination.NKKKK wrote...
Seriously, ultimate sacrifices dont matter? Bioware is getting more screwed up each day.

What is so difficult about importing your decisions to the Orlesian Warden?
This is like saying you can't import your Shepard from ME1 to ME2, so you simply redo your Shepard, that wouldn't be so bad, but then..oh no, the council's dead, wrex is dead, and Kaiden's dead. But those weren't my decisions, too bad lol!
And no, I don't support importing dead shepards to ME3, that is different, you died because you rushed through the game.
You sacrifice yourself in Dragon Age because you don't want to bring something that might be evil to this world and your making the most selfless decision ever...and what do we get? yeahh.

I am also wondering since Awakening takes place about 6 months after Origins if we learn anything more about Morrigan and her baby since she would be well into her pregnancy.

I wonder how much EA has to do with this expansion pack coming out so soon, and lacking so many of the things we were hoping for... EA was doing so well. It's like watching an old friend relapse into heroin. I thought we were beyond this, game industry.
Quite a bit I'm sure, it is their cash financing it after all. This is one project though and an expansion pack at that, not a very good sample size to judge weather this will be a standard or a fluke. I think people are blowing this thing way out of the water, it's like people are using a 16 inch battleship armament on a canoe here. They may have done an amazing job covering all the bases, they may have set everything up perfectly for the next title, they may have grand plans with things such as your old companions and romances set up in the next chapter. Wait and see.

Maybe. But look at it this way... This is hardly their first offense. Remember the latest Army of Two game when they offered up a full game mode exclusively for a month for those that pre-ordered? I know no one plays Army of Two, but still... If this is the kind of thing they're going to do...

I don't know anything about Army of Two but it does seem to be a rather odd expample to cite. Without knowing Bioware's roadmap it's tough to tell exactly what is going on. Like I said I'm going to wait and see before pinning anything on anyone.

But there are several other things going wrong with DAA, like little game length, DLC equipment does not carry over.....

For me romances are an important part of the game, not the main part but important none the less.
I agree. They add a great deal in the way of character development. And the fact that they aren't including any, combined with the fact that now all of my DLC gear is no good, has me seriously reconsidering whether I want to fork out $40 for such a maimed product.

Don't forget everyone, it's almost the same price as the original game. And 6 months from now they'll have another expansion or something and all your good stuff from Awakening will be taken away. Let's not forget w/e DLC they put out for Awakening :-p
Actually more expensive depending on where you shop. before DA came out gogamer was selling it for $39.90 that's .09 cheaper than the expansion...a bit odd. Currently listed at $42.90 so there is a slight difference.
While I am disappointed about no new romances, continuing companions other than Oghren and no DLC I will buy it and enjoy the story I'm sure.
Anders would have been a fun romance I think...so snarky, I love that.
I just hope in future expansions/whatever if they continue with the same warden it will show as in companions, choices, romances and equipment. I will miss my starfang and my puppy...sigh

You people are going way overboard. You purchased DLC for Dragon Age Origins, not Awakenings. So you can't be that mad. I don't see how you're so mad about something that hasn't even come out yet. Why don't you give it a chance and then it if makes you mad then don't purchase anymore Bioware/EA products, ever.
I'm not mad, I just said I wasn't going to purchase anymore DLC for this series. The benefits simply do not out weigh the cost in this scenario for me. My purchases for the DLC is not completely driven by a story or extra game play. If it was, I would be content at watching them on the internet, and just replaying other chapters in the game.
