No romances is a little lame. I mean seriously, you're going to tell me that your warden is going to run off on his romance and do NOTHING? Wow, BIOWARE is all about being good little boys and girls, aren't they. Even though given the period of time that Dragon Age resembles, the chance of a person doing a "long distant" relationship is about -14%.

It doesn't sound like such a bad thing no romances if its just in this exspansion and we go back to them in future exspansions sequals.

You people are going way overboard. You purchased DLC for Dragon Age Origins, not Awakenings. So you can't be that mad. I don't see how you're so mad about something that hasn't even come out yet. Why don't you give it a chance and then it if makes you mad then don't purchase anymore Bioware/EA products, ever.

This is an expansion and continuation of DAO not DAO 2 so IMHO its perfectly reasonable to think that DLC loot would carry over especially given loot from the core game carries over.

I don't mind the absence of romances as long as it's justified.
An explanation like "You are too busy for that" is insulting our intelligence.

Doesn't one of the endings goes: You Lianna agree to go adventure together once its all over? they should explain why that doesnt happen.

There are several endings where if you were romancing Lelianna she stays by your side "for a time". Obviously all those endings are not going to be recognized. Or the "for a time" was the 6 months before you leave Ferelden.

Who's to say "it doesn't happen." It doesn't have to happen "every time" does it?

I'm not thrilled by this. But until we hear the why's and wherefore's and see the execution of the "Awakenings" story, all anyone is doing by speculating is screwing themself into the ground.

Losing the DLC items does seem...odd. But I think that might be because many of them were, frankly, gruesomely overpowered.

Person A: It seems we're in a catch-22 when it comes to further developing any relationship in Awakening, sir.

Person B: Yes, our data and feedback from the forums indicate that we have neither the resources, time, nor distinct number of fans that drastically out weigh any other character. It has also come to our conclusion, given both the budget and time constraints, we won't be able to allow any DLC content or Allies to re-appear in the game as well. What should we do sir?

Person C: Burn it all...

Person A: All of it sir? Allies, Romances, and DLC?

Person C: All of it.

I noticed some of the dlc items changed value if you left them in your warchest.

Yes, there are certain items that could scale while in the chest. This is also the same when you sell it to Bodahn.

As nice as some of the DLC armors are, I don't see them as being important enough for people to not buy an expansion over if they aren't able to import them. After all, aren't they optional content, rather than something that is critical to have to play the game?

Na, I personally think an EA representative went there and said:
"Wipe them out....all of them".

Still, when people here the word expansion, idea of being limited in what you can and cannot have access to does not come to mind. They think in terms of the definition.

"The act of increasing (something) in size or volume or quantity or scope"

What if the new allies and new items are great and we won't miss the old ones?

My only complaint is the expansion to a game, not an entirely new game all together, just shorted me by denying me access to the DLC I purchased.

Oghren... the very word that killed this expansion for me. I don't mind the romance bit, imo Bioware just isn't willing or isn't capable of putting enough focus towards that matter. DLC isn't a problem for me either, as I've never bought any in the first place. But.. Oghren... just stab me in the eye with a dull rusty spoon. I can only hope for the ability to carve his face off and feed it to my dog.

I want to echo the Oghren bit. My least favorite character. I think I wanted to kill him for the mustache alone.

He has his amusing moments in party banter and when he tries to lie, but that mustache... it's not that I hate all mustaches, it's just... ugh. I don't like how he looks, I don't like how he talks to me... his appeal is lost on me. Of all the characters to do more with, why him?

Actually, I'm ok with this. I don't want my little elf mage to lose Alastair - it's fine if they're apart for awhile. I'd have been upset if we just got dumped, & then had others thrown at us. I'm not sure how I feel about him not recognizing her, though... I let Anora stay on as Queen in that one - maybe that will work out. Interesting, anyway. However, I will say that I played this game a lot longer because of the emotional content. I'm not wild about party-play, I'm not wild about the pause/tactics style - but I enjoyed the interactions & the banter a lot. It doesn't have to be romantic to be emotional, obviously, though I can't say I had much interest in Sten or Oghren. (though the dwarf is sweeter once you get him to 100.) But I actually felt kind of attached to Morrigan & Alastair, Morrigan made a rather interesting friend, if not entirely loyal at the end. :(

I played through the game once, had a so called happy ending rebuilding the grey wardens with Alistair. Then I thought I wont buy any dlc till I've played through at least once.

But not on this character since she's now at the end, no point having spiffy weapons etc.

Then like others I thought I'll make a new char and get the dlc when I get to Lothering and have nice armor and weapons to carry over to the expansion.

It looks like that can't happen, so I've decided not to waste any money on DLC now. Good job I decided to read about it in the forums first before buying them.

Don't feel like continuing with any other characters. I've lost my motivation to. I'll just play the origin stories of each and then stop playing and just wait for the expansion which I still want to play.

I like the romance aspect of the game, I'll miss that. But I still like a good adventure and story and that is good enough for me to play the expansion.

Oghren reminds me, for all the world, of Zap Rowsdauer in Final Sacrifice, MST3k. That's either endearing, or not, depending on how tolerant you are of falling down drunks.

I'll be sure to keep some non-DLC gear, I guess. Too bad! I love that Warden set!

The original companions and relationships were great, I think there should definately be continuity. It's an element that makes modern Bioware games so attractive to so many people.
