There's still time before Awakening comes out so maybe the devs will change their mind on cutting the dlc out.

Doubt it. That's really more of a technical issue they just don't have time to solve.

There are only two ways I can think of that they could do this, and neither one is something I would like to see. One, they could require the DLC for the expansion (this would definitely not sit well with those that don't like the cost of it) or two, they could alter the scripting engine to access the DLC check routines in the game engine to validate the DLC.

The problem with the DLC is that including them in the expansion means a certain amount of work that might not be deserved. Take into account that since the game ups the cap level about 10-15 levels, in all probability the DLC items will be good for a couple levels, and then you'd need to upgrade just to survive. Since they'd need to code in a lot of stuff that not everybody will have (since not everybody gets the DLC) they might've chosen to spend their resources elsewhere.

As for the romance, since most of the romanceable companions won't be back as companions, I don't have a problem with not having new romances, as it would be weird that you were romancing someone during the first game (and depending on the character, might've even gotten married!) and then you're off frolicking in the woods with someone else in the expansion. However, I must clarify: I don't have a problem as long as the romances are acknowledged in the expansion.

There's the logic behind it. Do I like it? Not much, I would've preferred to at least see a cameo of Leliana, but it looks like I might be out of luck...

They better have a really damn good reason to explain why Leliana is not traveling with my 2H Warrior since she said she would be at the end of the game.

Honestly, what the hell are you people whining about? Seriously, you people are going on about useless things like 'romance', and 'plot', and especialy crap like 'paid DLC'. You're all forgetting about the most important thing in the entire game, something that will not come back on this game...

...SANDAL.

Who will enchant our weapons? Who will slaughter the millions of Darkspawn (and a few Ogres) single-handedly? Who will win our hearts with a single word? You? No.

Screw Ogrin, screw Alistair, screw my romance option. I want Sandal back.

Im sure those mad about DLC not being carried over would have used Cailans armor, Duncans dagger, Starfang ect when there will be stuff that makes all that look like you are fighting with a butterknife dressed in tinfoil statwise.

Short version...the new stuff would make the DLC obsolete anyway.

Just my opinion.

It doesn't matter if the gear you get in Awakenings would be better or not...you paid for DLC that had these items in it...nowhere did it state that I saw that is was for Origins only? I mean who was the idiot that made such a stupid decision?

This is really dishonest by Bioware, particularly since there wasn't one warning when they released RTO...in a situation where most people probably had already completed the game and so used those items for what 20 minutes of gameplay....

I mean they want to kill thier DLC sales, keep pulling crap like this....what a bunch of bs.

Not everyone is out for stats or min/max. Most of my rogues wore the ancient elven armor chest piece and gloves because it looked great. It was lousy armor + increased stamina usage because it was considered medium armor and not light. (it had worse protection than tier 6 and 7 maybe even 5? leather armor.

In the beginning of Awakening, i'm sure the DLC items/gear will be useful still. I highly doupt that a two-hander warrior is going to start off with a better weapon than Starfang at least, i'd estimate at least a few levels before an upgrade is needed.

It could be even worse, she could reveal that it's really Zevran she loves and it'll be Hear'Dalis all over again :? :P

I wouldn't mind losing my DLC items just as long as they'll explain it storywise: being captured by an evil archmage, temporary amnesia to my character, etc.

Otherwise, the DLC should stay though. Developing Time? Patch it up because it would make the DLC's value technically useless if they can't be imported.

As for romances, well, I just hope it doesn't reset. I dont mind meeting new characters though...

Didn't think about that...............
Bioware should at least give a short story (codex) or explination as to why your character wouldn't have any of those items anymore.

Im sad by the loss of romances. It added alot to the game. I remember how cool it was the first time Lilliana flirted with me. I miss that little tart already. It seems like as much feed back as is being offered as to how significant this is to alot of people perhaps they will add something. I know I am alot less excited about buying this expansion than I was. I was about to preorder it when i saw this thread. But now I don't know.

I wouldn't worry to much about it honestly. If anything the lack of romances in Awakening kind of hints that they may have something planned further down the road and are simply trying to avoid making a giant mess by adding on even more possibilities. A Bioware game without romances is as rare as a hooker without herpes, I'm sure there is a strong reason why they passed on it.

And as for not including the past ones in this game, well why spend the resources if it wouldn't really add anything aside from nostalgia and there is something bigger planned down the road that will include them. Like I said, don't worry to much about it, I doubt we've seen the last of (Instert Name Here).

Don't mind losing the romances, even though my character is currently in search of the love of his life Morrigan. I do however have a huge problem with the idea that the stuff I paid extra money for is completely useless for the expansion.

Good God man let it go, not every single one of your posts has to include the "I'm mad at Bioware for not giving me my DLC" stich, especially when the posts you're quoting have nothing to do with that subject.

So it's ok to be mad that they took out romances but I'm not supposed to be upset that I spent extra money on stuff that "magically disappears"?

Uh, no. See what I said was you don't need to make the statement when quoting posts that had nothing at all to do with the subject. Karimanna was upset the romances weren't there, I said more then likely they have something planned for them at a later stage, and for some reason you brought up the DLC fiasco. Do you see the little break in topic there?

I did mention the romances and how they effect my game, so I slipped in the part about the DLC, I'm very angry about that, in my opinion I have been ripped off and lied to. But I did talk about the topic, and to be on topic for this post: I actually am annoyed about the no romance thing, just not as much as the "other" thing.
