Someone probably has already done a thread on this, but I'm going to add it back in just for the sake of it.
In Mass Effect 1 we had an awesome inventory system. I could upgrade my weapons with a personal customization which left me feeling fulfilled. Now when it comes down to it I want that option back. I'm dieing without it in Mass Effect 2. I want to play a RPG not an action game so for Mass Effect 3. Bioware please and I mean please give me back my inventory system. I don't like not changing my armor before missions and liked the fact I upgrade my weapons from the first one. Some of the weapons are cool, but its not good enough. If you are someone who wants the old inventory system from Mass Effect 1 back and to have it put in Mass Effect 3 please let me know. I'm seriously going to try to get the old inventory system back. I want an Elcor pack mule character, who is basically your walking inventory/armoury. He just follows you around carrying all your gear and complaining.

The inventory system was crap and I'm happy it is gone. Having piles of useless garbage dumped on me fight after fight that I had to either sell or omni-gel to get rid of got old really damned fast.

I want to play a game. If I wanted to do that, I would go sift through my neighbor's trash for recyclables.

I like the way loot works in this game, it cuts out the middle man. You only pick up things that are USEFUL. Anything you pick up that ISN'T useful is immediately converted to credits via a "bounty system". It's really ****ing intelligent.

The ONLY problem with the inventory system in ME2 is that I have no renewable income.

I want to play an RPG not an Action game. Understand! (RPG)! That means ROLE PLAYING GAME! Loot comes with the territory. Do you understand. Mass Effect is an RPG! RPG! Lets keep it that way. I've hear more people wanting the inventory back then most. It wasn't crap because I could sell the stuff for major money and use only the good stuff. That was why their was a trader on your ship. Duh! If you remember playing ME 1. I would use only the stuff that mattered and then sell the rest for credits. I loved it, it was one of my biggest turn ons to mass effect to begin with. I want my inventory back, son. Nothing more nothing less!Image IPB

Sorry, I'm going to have to stop you right there and disagree. Strongly.

I want weapons to be as customizable as Armor. So I can swap out parts and components on 2 or 3 different gun models for each gun type. That would be cool.

I don't think you understand what an RPG is "son".

also, you hear more people wanting it back because the people (like me) who like the new system, are playing the game, not whining like babies.

I agree! every time I pull the trigger I want to see dice roll on my screen and decide if I successfully pass an aim check.

Yeah we need the inventory back so we can run out of room and have nowhere to store the phat lootz we randomly pick up.

In the name of all things holy....may ME1s inventory system never be seen again.

After playing ME2 i prefer this weapon system; however, there needs to be more customization. The game shouldn't upgrade my weapons for me and there needs to be more weapons to choose from.

yeah, in ME2, all items are unique. much better than thousands of copy items.

ME2 just needs a larger selection, then it would be a perfect system imo.

And a renewable income. I'm not saying billions of spare creds like ME1, but I would like to be able to sell my resources if I get strapped for cash. I like resources as a form of loot. It's just a number on my pause screen, not endless lists of junk.

You actually liked the system? You just sold every single weapon since Specter weapons are better than anything else, and you get an armor upgrade maybe once every couple of hours. Oh, and can't forget that by level 25-30 you max out your money and can't sell anything any more, leaving you to just accumulate obscene worthless amounts of omni-gel. Face it, the inventory system in ME1 was utter garbage. Would I prefer a stronger inventory system? Yes. Would I prefer the horrible one over ME2's stripped down one? Not a chance.

Wasn't really a fan of ME1's inventory. I unlocked the Spectre gear, got it to the point where it was "X" and omi/sold everything after.

ME isn't Baldur's gate or KOTOR. It's a new take that is combining action and RPG elements and its had a very good showing. The way the game plays can only take so much into account when it cones to weapons.

You find a good SMG, you use your class' or borrow another class' ammo power and fire off enemies. There isn't much they can do in terms of weaponry to change that. Adding upgrades on a personal level "might" be a nice touch in the next one, but the system works very well for now.

No Thankyou, I like the new system much better. I would like more items though and more money to buy said items what ever happened to my million credits is the real plot hole of ME2.

I think the inventory system in ME1 was highly flawed and cluttered. It very easily could've been simplified with the ability to filter and sort items.

While I'm glad I don't have to worry about having to omni-gel crap loads of Sirta Foundation Phoenix armor, I miss loot. Presently everything in the game is static... the same money, the same resources, the same upgrades all in the same place every play through. It also feels quite unrewarding to fight through so many waves and waves of enemies, with the only thing you acquire from them being thermal clips.

I don't want the old system back, but what I do want is something that is convenient and rewarding to the player. The old system was inconvenient, the new system is unrewarding. I think there has to be a comfortable middle ground in there somewhere.

ME1 inventory system was one of the banes of my recent play through of ME1. ME2s system is amazing as other people have said. Computron2000 is right an example of role playing is choosing whether or not to kill Wrex, hence the words role and play. Nether of which mean stats or loot.

Oh great, i was just thinking how this forum really needed yet another mindless debate where people argue over who's definition of a vaguely defined genre is better.

Alternatively, stick your hand in a blender, and you'll come out a lot happier than having watched a video of people LARPing

I think there should be more of a hybrid system, much like they did with the N7 Armour, you should be able to customize weapons and I want to see more armour and heavy armour customization options and more guns/parts/armours to buy from shops.

When you are LARPing, you know you would look ridiculous to anyone outside your group, but that doesn't change how fun it is :)

Just don't do it in the middle of the damned street where your neighbors can record you and stick it on youtube LOL

Most of the loot in ME1 was pointless. You just bought the spectre weapons then occasionally swapped to the next-highest armor. Everything else was sold for credits that you didn't even need.

ME2 is much better given the upgrades perform the same effective function of advancement while not having to sift through tons of garbage. Credits actually matter and are worth collecting.

I really wish ME1 hadn't made it so hard to manage the inventory system, because I feel it was much more customizable. I've played through 3 times and have only managed to completely upgrade a weapon once. Running around hacking every console and datapad to try and find a weapons upgrade is just as bad as having only 150 inventory items that it takes forever to get through.

Also, the whole heatsink idea is plain retarded physics and is a terrible in game explanation. ME1's overheat was a unique and realistic solution with logical upgrades (frictionless materials, etc). ME2 retconned the entire system and made it worse.

Mass Effect was never meant to be a full blown RPG, and very few of the items were actually very good, and you don't even need money once you hit about half way to a third through the game. Just replayed ME1 and all squad used same weapons whole time, granted it was a new game+ but you always know that you will end up using the same weapons in the end anyway.
