Well since this threads been resurrected I got a question lol. Is there any story/nformation to Renden Howe's wife, Nate's mother because he mention's her in Awakening's but I can't ever remember seeing anything else about her. I assume she's dead, and for some odd reason I got the impression that maybe Rendon Howe may have had something to do with that. I can't remember where I might of gotten that thought from but it was a Nate conversation with someone lol.
What did Howe mean by his final words? And is there a backstory for him?

Considering how evil he is it wouldn't surprise me at all if the Arlessa had a little "accident". Maybe even for sh*ts and giggles he tortured her to death. He seems like that kind of guy. I think in that convo with Nate he tells you that Howe's Mother in law was someone he absolutely despised (though why that particular nugget of info comes up when the PC and Nate are looking at his MOTHER's picture is beyond me). The whole conversation system in that expansion was whacked.
Still that has to be better than the new one.

I'm on a wikipedia journey and was wondering what others thought about this.
By my completely non-expert approximation, I would think that Howe meets like 5 of those criteria for NPD. I thought of this because I remembered in that show The Sopranos, the shrink hazarded a guess that the crazy mother might have NPD.
I've always been of the opinion that at one point, Howe had to be a pretty decent friend to Cousland and a passable father to Nathaniel, just over time he flipped his swimming pool. In that wiki page, it is stated that the effects of aging can exacerbate the symptoms of NPD, i.e. interpersonally exploitive, lacking empathy, arrogance, and as the OP mentions, a sense of entitlement. As I joked in another thread, Fereldan doesn't have shrinks. If his mental illness went unchecked, it might have ended up completely ruling his personality, overwriting any decency and affection that he felt for Bryce.
Anybody else want to join me in making very uneducated guesses about Howe's mental health?

He wanted to harness the power of the old gods and become a threat to the maker himself so they would fight for ever. Like Howe would be the devil, once he took the makers powers he would use his demons to take over Thedas and become the most powerful being in existence. Why would he do all this you ask? Well he wants to survive the zerg swarm, but sadly(for him) after doing all this crap he does not survive the zerg swarm.

the new DLC you play a Darkspawn in an alternate reality where the original Origins PC died in the joining. Monkeys will fly out of my arse before I fork over even five bucks for that garbage. It will be released in about a week or soHighdragonslayer wrote...
