I tried to switch to the infiltrater class but just could not enjoy it. Nothing stops my vanguard with slam and assault rifle bonuses.

Only difference on insanity is that area reave & drones are a must. Thats it, still able to charge and take out a group of 3 at most. long as the shields are down or really low there's nothing stopping you. Unless you charge out into the open like a ******.

Strange, I'm the opposite. I'm loving my Infiltrator and I hated being a Vanguard. I don't like that sort of suicidal gameplay.
This.
Boom! Headshot!

Kept thinking "Hmm, if only I had a good move to use here".
Heavy Shotgun? Sucks. I picked up SR's on the Collector Ship.
Charge? Situational
Powerset? lacking.
Adept, Infil ftw.

It was still a lot of fun to Charge someone and then blast them in the face with my shotty, though.

With all of the classes getting revamped in ME2, they all have a very distinct flavor, most of them different from ME1. I played a Vanguard in ME1, but it felt like more of a generic Adept/Soldier combo instead of a CQB focus then, as well as having stronger defenses.
The Sentinel just felt super-generic and completely without focus then, but it's turned into a defensive monster in ME2. It has tools to deal with everything but lacks any focus and the ability to burst, so fights are won by grinding the enemy down. Having picked up a shotgun in the Collector ship, and specialized as a Raider with Assault Armor, I've essentially tuned my Sentinel into a mid-to-close-range defensive grinder. It fits my playstyle perfectly.

I played Adept for 2 hours and said, Screw this! Too weak!
I just started a Renegade FemShep Vanguard.
Infiltrator sounds like a ton of fun, but for the moment the Charge is sick.
