I loved the suicidal Vanguard who was more like "the great biotic wind" in ME1, but he was changed so much in terms of gameplay that I couldn't enjoy him this time around.

So, yeah, enjoying Sentinel and Infiltrator this time around instead of Vanguard.

Im the opposite...Was OK with Vanguard in the first game but LOVED the changes made to it for the second game.  They are how I always pictured them in this game.  If you are a shotgun "focused" class you SHOULD have some ability that allows you to close the gap quickly and put some rounds in their skulls.  My ONLY disappointment about Vanguard is that they took away throw and didnt give them lift because that was my favorite combo of abilities...Lift the opponent, then slam them with a throw to toss them 37018374081234 miles away lol.  As far as bonus powers go, I always chose Reave with my Vanguard as a way I can stay at "range" when the need calls for it.  Sure I could have taken AR training but I wanted the Claymore shotgun more.

Nothing says "You've just been f***ed by a Vanguard* better than when you Biotic Charge in, and put your crosshairs over their skull and pull the trigger of your Claymore Posted Image.  In short, it's good-night Irene

Truth.

I used the cain, granted it took me quite some time make sure I wouldn't miss..but GODDAMN it was SATISFYING nuking that thing. Without the mako I certainly feel powerless, until the cain popped out and delivered a big FU.

I played all three combat classes. Infiltrator is a good challenge, especially if you get the Widow and not the assault rifle training. You have to depend on your squadmates a lot. Soldier was alright. Vanguard is my favorite though. The charge and the heavy shotgun just make you feel like a force of nature. The calculated risks you have to take keeps you sharp and trying to split up squads into individual targets that can be disabled easily with a charge is satisfying.

If you have trouble head shooting with 60percent time slow down for 2.5 seconds then I can see why you would say being an infiltrator would be a challenge, being an infiltrator is the only class I think, if possible, a solo run would be really easy

After putting some hours into playing a VG like demonstrated in that vid I can say it is an enjoyable class to play with, very edge of your seat stuff, experimenting with charge did get me killed but once you get the hang of it things become fun, but at this low a level I find myself using barrier and getting up close with the shotgun and hand cannon

Indeed I -loved- my Vanguard playthrough. Soldier and Infiltrator were not -difficult- at all but Vanguard was just soooo much fun. ^^ She was just so awesomely heroic ^^ perfect class to play if you are a Paragon type! :-) (Especially now that everyone can wear the same heavy armor ! )

Certainly it takes some thinking about who to charge/etc but that's not a bad thing really.

I definitely have my complaints about ME2, but Vanguard gameplay is not one of them. :-D

Hmm, I'm playing a Vanguard now, when you mean assault rifle, do you mean the one you could get from that Collector Ship (The Revenant Gun)?

Cause i don't think Vanguards can aquire any other assault rifle, but I'm curious if that's the one being mentioned.

thanks,

Charge should grant Shield bonus.

like 200% shields for 3 secs after Charge impact.

It... does.  It refills your shield to 100% when you use it.  Considering it's a base 6 second cooldown, lowered to sub 4 seconds when upgraded, I don't think it really needs more shields.  You need to pick your targets more carefully.

At low levels, it's a bit trickier.  I'd love to see a combat video of someone doing some early missions (Jack recruitment, Mordin recruitment) as a Vanguard in a new game on Insanity (not NG+).  I find I need to resort to my other weapons a lot, and I can't spam Charge/Shotgun, because my Charge cooldown is just a second too long to keep it going without being gunned down.

And to the person who claimed that Tactical Cloak is for cowards... you really don't understand the skill.  Much like charge, it's a lot more than what it's worth at face value.  It's a combination damage boost, escape mechanism AND setup technique.  You can use it to get to an advantageous position to flank your enemies.  That's the beauty of playing an infiltrator.  Sniper headshots are nice, but the Soldier really does them better with Adrenaline Rush

Adrenaline Rush is maybe the most powerful skill, it gives a big damage bonus while in AR mode mixed with sniper and everything dies, the soldier feels like the tutorial class

the non assault rifle classes just gain the ability to use assault rifles when chosen on collector ship, they dont get to use the "special weapon" revenant MG or Anti-material Sniper cannon

Please give the Revenant to the Vanguard by default, Bioware. Heavy charge + spray + melee = most enemies dead

My original is a vanguard. But in my two playthrough's so far. I've switched it to Soldier and Sentinal. I plan to use my Vanguard as my complete character and who I am planning to bring to ME3.

Having a krogan charge you like a bull and being able to charge them right back head on and knock them flying just fills me with a sense of animalistic pleasure.

yes mp84 on the collecter ship you get an option to choose assault rifle, sniper rifle, or claymore. The assault rifle is pure gold to setup your in- close encounters. Usually what I will do is Wear down some armour with the ar, then I will throw an improved shockwave towards the largest group, heavy charge into the group, shottie the guy I charged, turn and take out 1-2 baddies with the ar then heavy slam the last guy or two. THis is just devastating to my foes...............................
