Exactly.  I'm fine with the old romances being in the background with just cameos & references in dialog, but I was really looking forward to Anders as a love interest for my mage who got dumped by Alistair. And I have male PCS who really didn't want to try to find Morrigan and her wardenspawn.
If there are going to be more expansions or sequels dealing with the original warden character, I hope there will be a new romance option open to them.

I'm half tempted to write a fanfic about her and Anders, actually. Kind of as an alternate "What if things didn't work out with Cullen" story. Because, even if he didn't go nuts, it'd be almost impossible for them to have a real relationship.



Not to mention, my innocent little mage origin pc wouldn't be so naive or innocent by the time of awakening. She'd probably find Anders quite interesting.



I don't suppose we could discuss the possibility of an Anders romance mod already? I'd be more than happy to contribute to the writing part once I get a feel for his personality. But I don't know anything about coding.

I would imagine (I. E. hope) that in Leliana's case she may get an opportunity to study the urn of sacred ashes (as she does if you do not romance her) and you are called on this mission roughly at the same time.  If the PC truly loves her (and all that jazz) then you cannot deny her that opportunity even though it separates you both … for a time.

The romance aspect was a huge amount of fun for me. I think a lot of women got their limbics stroked by the whole thing. Heh. So I'd like to see it come back in either another expansion or the sequel.



With or without it, however, I really like this game. I do believe it has replaced the Final Fantasy Series as number 1 on my list of things to look forward to. And FF has held that place for oh....20 years give or take.

I wonder if people who continue saying "Romances continuing = Game like Sims" have ever played BG2 and Throne of Baal... I really doubt they did ever played it !



IN TOB you have shown how a romance can still exist in the plot while the game continue to be an epic RPG adventure..



Saying that a romance in a game make it similar to a Sims game is an absurdity, equal to saying something like "Every movie where there is a love story is a Love Movie" Terminator? we have a love story, so it is a love movie... Star Wars? we have some love stories.. so they are love movies...

Romance is a very valid reason to play this game. It's one of the things that sets DAO apart from it's competitors. People read books for romance, why not games?



I'm in agreement that the Zevran and Leliana romances are the ones that have the most potential for issues in the expansion ... especially since both of them have potential endings where they help the Warden rebuild the order in the main game

And what are you playing for? I believe most of people are here to play a RPG game... What does Role Playing means ? It means to play the role of someone, or, if you prefer to interpret someone.

Well, who do you like to interpret? Do you like to play the role of a war-machine whitout any emotions? Well, you're free to do it.. It's your game and it's your choice. But many people here like play a character who as also emotions, (and I'm not saying "only", I am saying "also")
For all these people romances and friendships are not only distractions as you say, but are one of the most  important features that allowed them to play the game, to play the ROLE that they like... not the only feature, but an important one...

Stop insulting people just because they like to play a game in a different game you like to play....

Only romance I see in this is Oghrens dismal attempts at wooing sigrun. Only reason I can even see Oghren being chosen for this game, for the obvious dialogue between him and her.

Hey, I like my games to be distracting. That's kind of the point.  Also, I found my one true love several decades and 6 kids ago. If typical gamer demographics hold true in your case, likely long before you were a gleam in your father's eye. So, thanks for the advice but...I don't need it.

Also, who died and made you Emperor of Why Games Should Be Played? Hmmmm? One of the nice things about more complex rpgs, sims and strategy games is that they offer different things for different people. The one son that I have that is the most closely aligned to my genre prefences plays the same games I do for completely different reasons and with a completely different play style. I liked being a she-pimp and causing the Great Dragon Age soap opera in my second play through. You don't like it? Don't do it. But spare me the sanctimony, mmmm kay?

Sorry But I am in full agreement, not that anyone in the Company actually reads these, But I hate that they removed the option, I mean I liked the feeling of being in control of my PC to that extent, could choose his Friends, Lovers and Enemies, I think removing it was a Mistake, and to those here complaining about others liking the feature, Go Play your game and stop Flaming, cause that's all your doing, we are here discussing our like for that feature so you had to rush in and Flap at the Fingers.

oh well i tried to stay away from the forums till i got the new addon so i wouldnt mess the game up for me .And to find out that really wasnt needed because BIOWARE already had that part taken care of .Ok bioware im not a fanboi of any dev .I go by the rule you have to prove yourself with every dam game you make. Ive seen to many times a dev comes out with a huge winner . Just to follow it with a junk game but nobody wants to say anything negative. Well thats not me. I found it strange how i never found you as a game dev all together. And i have to say DAO had to be the best game i have ever interacted with , (thats how it felt). the whole banter between members was great need more IMO. I was a bit put off by all the fans when i have something negative to say . But i fixed that really quick. i just started taking screen shots of everything problem before i wanted to point it out . BECAUSE being a fanboi is great i guess , but your not helping the company get better by not talking about the glitches , buggs, or even the slow responce time to the issues they do have . If there is only a few talking about an issue. They might just say hey its only a small % of people it affected. So the next games will most likely have the same issues..Because believe it or not we pretty much beta test the games for them on realease. But you will be a better fan , only if your tell them about things you liked or not.



So i was a bit put off by so many issues with DAo,(have to add the 400+ hours i put into it ), but wanted to really test you out and got ME2 . Well it was clear to see it had more QAing . And the only major thing for me was the getting stuck on a table or a crate and could not get down.. It was fine i guess if you were doing missions mostly because the game gets auto saved often . BUT when it happens after scanning planets for 3 hours only to loose it all..well you know . ME2 felt lacking in comparison to all the coversation i had in DAo. Too now totaly not even including any romance at all was a major FAIL bioware. You have some great concepts/ideas involved with these games with a few almost epic history making gaming events . But its like you were were so close , then you put on the breaks . E.g the romance scenes im sorry they ended up being more of a joke then anything really IMO. For gods sake morrigan shows more just walking around dressed. then she does in those scenes. For the 17+ rating you should of made gaming history forever and at least had them topless(as an option at least). But to not even add romances in awakening was about as bright an idea as the auction for only 48 states was.



So you had me liking you petty well as a game dev till awakening. Now im not sure whos doing the thinking or lack there is of. With a few of your choices your making of late. Like planet scanning (just a time sink IMo) to make it seem like more game content. And the new rune idea seems like one as well. Yaa we get to combine 40 runes to get the best one of each kind. Are you going to sit there and say a room full of gamers all thought, hey scanning planets for a few hours would be fun? But lookYou were known by the whole universe over by name, but just couldnt even hire a vorcha to scan plannets for you . Please wake up.



I know its still mostly males making games . But if this is all youi guys can come up with for ideas. You need to start making it more attractive for females to get into the bizz . But you need to start going with more of the ones that you already have and their ideas ASAP. Because it seams obvious the guys are runing out of ideas fast. This is all IMHO.



P.s electronic contests will never work or be anywhere close to being fair . There are just to many ways to auto set your phone or computer to mass call for hits for there to ever be an honest contest. when you include eletronics as a way to play . IMO
