the custom character looks like their features have been sanded smooth. and when you select a rougher complexion, you get some 50 year old smoker's face. maybe there should be something in between smooth and pockmarked elderly.

I thought there was a bit more detail purposely put into Default Shepard because it's an actual facial scan...?
Yeah it is, so I was wondering if the facial expression or the voice sink were better because of it. I wondered if anyone had tried both the default and custom and found a difference.

I used default Shepard in ME1 and 2 because the custom face creator is ugly as ******.
My ****** is a beautiful clear color.

Still very limited though, and most characters look the same as almost every charater is lifted from the same 1 or 2 templates. You just need to look at the choice of lips and some of the eye choices to see most of the options are trash/fillers.
It was one of the areas i was hoping to see an improvement, instead we got more of the same.

This. But I still attempt to create a decent looking shep in the creator, even if it -always- turns out to be either a sin against creation or simply fugly and or passable.

Actually, I've wanted to try this but haven't got round to it but is it possible to edit the default face during creation? i.e. don't change the actual shape or texture of the face but change the hair or beard or eye colour without it looking stupid? If possible that would seem like a good halfway point.

I wanted a character that looked more "renegade" and like he's been through battle.

How are we supposed to know that if we use the DEFAULT face ?
The topic should be:
"For those of you that have played with default Shepard face AND custom face"

he looks better and more realistic than the default Shepard, in my opinion. has a very similar face as my custom.
i found the facial animations work better on my custom. the cheesy grin especially. the default's face is too thin.

I agree, Sheploo can look a little bit odd with his eye's, kinda close together.
At first it felt odd not playing the default face, but when I could put my touch on the character and make it my own , I find that I actually prefer it.
Make him feel more like the fighter he's suppose to be, and still be 'ruggedly handsome' for the ladies.
Also playing renegade with the funny and more badass lines it is better to have a character that look like he can deliver, "practice what he preach".

Used to use the default face, and I did on first play-through, now I'm rocking a custom face.
