Sniper if you're into it, else I'd say the Assault Rifle.

I'm down to the AR and Sniper. Sniping is more fun but I'm not sure it completely fits the class

For my first Adept, I went with sniper rifles and it turned my char into an insta-bada**
Now that I've gotten a better handle on the game (and found a way to get Legion from the beginning and know how to get the Geth pulse rifle and got all 3 Dr. Pepper DLC's), I'm doing a NEW adept playthrough (w/ warp ammo instead of barrier for bonus power) and will take AR. I'm expecting a more different kind of insta-bada**.
In conclusion, either or, you will NOT be disappointed; but save, just incase you are
