Yeah, multiplayer ruins Bioware games. Just look at Neverwinter Nights.

But personally, *any* form of multiplayer would be at least pretty interesting, even if it was just a buddy taking control of one of your squadmates. It would just be hard to fit in a game like Mass Effect given all the other features of the game that aren't really compatible with multiplayer: exploring, conversations, cutscenes, etc.

ME is a story driven game series not a brainless shooter. The squadmates do NOT act like players, when was the last time you played a multiplayer game where everyone followed blindly all your orders without a word of complaint?ZeroXraven wrote...
HOW does it not makes sense. It's basically a co-op game anyway. Your squadmates act like players so what difference would it make if it was a person? Get over it, it is going to happen, and in my oppinion shouldKumoriOokami wrote...

Well then don't buy it. Mass Effect 3 will indeed have some sort of multiplayer. EA has already stated that all games that come out in 2011 or beyond it will have some form of multiplayer or DLCzippie151 wrote...
The day ME goes multi in any form is the day i do not buy another. The game benfits hugely from not having to compromise on story and gameplay mechanics to satisfy Co-op/multi restrictions. Anyone seriously want Army of Two in space!? I didn't even like it on Earth!
Ugh... I really hope the OR here would mean just DLC for ME3. Multiplayer for ME makes no sense at all.

Thats the thrill of multiplayer moron. Having people who listen to you and deciding if your choices are correct in a gaming manner to them. Yeah, it sucks having bad teamates (Mass Effect 1). but I have friends who would buy Mass Effect in a heartbeat if they could co-op with me. It's the thrill of playing with friends (Sorry if you don't have any) and not having people watch you all the time wanting to play but rather join you in your fight to save the galaxy. Imagine all three players contolling conversations as well. If I was Jack for instance I could counter act what she says back to my friend online. It would make for some hilarious moments. I'm SOOOO SICK of people not giving any new features a chance. Get over it!Dreadz666 wrote...

P.S I don't really want to see multiplayer in ME at all, to be honest. I like having the story personalized by the decisions MY shepard makes, and I don't like running around just trying to get a high kill count and getting in arguments with teenagers about my mom/sex related stuff.

Only difference is you couldn't control their powers or position (BIG Deal) rather have my brother playing with me than AI that rarely does anything right if not properly told too on Insanity

Multiplayer might work and Bioware could go in the direction that Bioshock 2 did and have online ME3 multiplayer take place during the first contact war or something similar. I wouldn't count on co-op campaign or online matchmaking, for that matter. If ME 3 did have online, it would be interesting for ME 3 multiplayer to give gamers some details about the first contact war. Again, don't count on it, Folks.

Baldur's gate also had a multi-player feature (don't know if anyone actually used it though!), and I consider that the best RPG ever. (Especially since I just started replaying).

Keeping that in mind, I'm scared about what multiplayer could do for ME 3. Bioware MIGHT get it right and online matchmaking will be just as good as Halo's or COD's, but Bioware might not get it right and it could ruin the game. Mass Effect is a one player game and the story is all about the decisions your character makes, so far this is working for the Mass Effect franchise. So, it should stay a single player game.ZeroXraven wrote...

True. If Mass Effect 3 does have good multiplayer and it doesn't interfere with the story at all, I will play it all the time. And if online sucks, I will still play ME 3 because I like the game way to much to let sucky online interfere with me enjoying the story.ZeroXraven wrote...
I understand everyones concerns about the multiplayer effected the single player experience, but if you didn't know, a different team handled the Bioshock 2 multiplayer so it didn't affect the single player AT ALL. They could do the same with Mass Effect 3 as they did with Bioshock and are going to do with Medal of Honor

Fable 2's multiplayer was horrible and almost nobody played it. Lionhead should have spent the time they took for multiplayer and improved single player.

No one cares what you don't want in a game. MANYYY people want it and it would even push sales even further. Why would you make everyone who wants it suffer by saying it would ruin the game. Have you played a Mass Effect Multiplayer game? How do you know it would ruin it? YOU don't! so yeahhh point served....Bioware is extremely talented and very smart as a business and a developer. I Highly doubt they would let it ruin the experience. They even said they don't want a Mass Effect movie unless its a "Great Movie"...so yeahhhnetminder17 wrote...
No, I don't want Mass Effect multiplayer, it's not a multiplayer game. Why does everyone feel they need to slap multiplayer in a game where it doesn't need it.

its not that bioware couldn't impliment a good multiplayer game and maintain their AAA level of single player experience, its just that the public is terrified of change.

it's sad and pathetic to be terrified of the changes in a gaming sequel. Just Saying...scyphozoa wrote...
people are anti-multiplayer because they are afraid it will weaken the single player experience and the quality of the franchise. look at how upset people got over improved shooting mechanics.

Yeah I knew that and I was happy to hear that when I first did, because multiplayer affecting the single player was a concern of mine for Bioshock 2. But my post was just me saying how much I thought that the multiplayer in that game was awful.
I think my post is being taken the wrong way so I'll be clearer. I just feel that multiplayer is completely unnecessary in games like Bioshock and ME. The single player has the same (or more) replay value as a game with a weak single player a good multiplayer (Obviously not up against a game with great multiplayer like COD or Halo).
