And I will keep explaining this issue..til people start using their brains and actually reading and understanding.

If you don't get it..don't post in this thread...and thus proving to the world..that you don't get it.

And some of us will keep disagreeing with you. Because we have a right to our opinions and they are valid. You shouldn't expect to get the last word in a disagreement--it's a sign of immaturity. I understand your complaints but you don't have to keep beating them against the wall and argue with every single person who disagrees with you either.

Now, having played Awakening from beginning to end, it's easy to see why this wasn't worked on. It doesn't really matter. The amount of references to the prior story is very light. The key elements are--who comes to visit you as the Liason for Ferelden? Who's the Dwarven King? And a little not at the end referencing your Romantic choice. That's pretty much it. For this adventure, it doesn't matter what happened between the Circle and Templars or the Elves and Werewolves, or who you romanced, etc.

So, assuming that you play the default character--does the import really matter? Most of the past stuff doesn't even come up. Considering how buggy some of the imports work I doubt it was worth the expense to code/program a feature that "sacrifice world state" import.

Though you never know--they might be able to patch it later.  So there's some hope...

I don't care if you disagree..go ahead disagree.   And I will continue to explain the issues the way the people in this thread voiced them.

If you don't like that..thats your prerogative..of course.

Gotta love being shadow stalked by Yoko.......wonder whats up with that. :P

Yes your trolling is stupid.

Methinks the thread starter cannot in this case be classed as a troll,  Maria had some valid points,  and there are alot of people who posted in this thread that agreed with Maria.

You..on the other hand ..have not read about any of the issues stated here, instead you thought you'd put your little trollish remark on the thread because...thats so cool ya know :D     Not. :)

Wrong, starting a thread with "how utterly stupid" is the very definition of trolling.  The fact that many haters and troll agree with troll prime does not change this.

The OP started the thread w/ an insulting attack on the devs.   That = troll.  There is no debate.  :wizard:

Then again I say you haven't read about the issues in this thread..and are in fact trolling yourself....because if you read and understood the issues then we more than likely would be having a different conversation.

I don't see it as insulting at all..it was an observation...if you don't like the wording...thats definitely your problem.

I asked this in another thread, but it appears to be dying so I'll ask it here...

I still don't understand why resurrecting your Warden is an option to begin with. I don't spend that much time on these forums so maybe I missed it, but was there really some vast movement of people who sacrificed their character and still expected to be able to carry on with that same character?

Some tend to think there were complaints made to Bioware, in regard to those people who may only play through once,   did the ultimate sacrifice and realized that dead warden, means dead warden.

So the Devs opted for the "hand-waive...the story, we don't care if you don't care" route.   So basically when you make your dead warden alive again,  whatever the default story is..thats what you get.    So it could be for instance, that the default was the Dark Ritual,  thus erasing the Ultimate Sacrifice ending.

It would also mean that as a dead warden...or as a resurrected warden, your choices such as who was king or queen..if you killed Loghain or not..would also be erased and given the default ending whatever that is.

And there is NO connection whatsoever to the Orlesian Warden.   The Orlesian doesn't have a clue your PC existed or even died heroically.

All gone..  other story endings have choices and some sort of follow-through in Awakening..this one does not.

If you think I am shadow stalking you Ferale, you are a lot more paranoid than I thought. (Not to mention constantly getting my name wrong.)

And I think its a clear definition of whining when you respond to virtually every post that disagrees with you. I just don't think you should expect to always get the last word on this issue.

Doesn't really matter that much anyway because it doesn't seem like Awakenings has an autosave so my bet in the future you will import from Origins again instead of Awakenings. Shame for the Awakenings storyline. But I could be wrong. Still could have been rectified it seems. Awakenings needed more work anyway.

Well, for awakenings there really isn't a need for a post campaign save because all the important choices come before the final encounter, so if a continuation was required you don't really need it, just use the save right in the mother's lair

Well, it might be a blessing because by the time you're done with that battle you've probably used up a lot of potions and other one-shot items.

Y'know, as much as I'd have liked to have been able to keep my dead Wardens dead and still import the world state... there is one benefit to not being able to do so.

The Ultimate Sacrifice becomes just that. Ultimate. It becomes a great deal harder to make.

It actually has a meaning that extends beyond the game world, now, because you're not just killing your character... you're ending your story. Full stop. I realise I'm being very glass half-full, here... but that's kind of... cool.

Though, yeah, I'd still leap at the chance to keep the world state with dead Wardens. :P

The way I read it is if you import your dead Warden didn't do the Ultimate Sacrifice and instead a more canonical route is setup. So in reality it's simply you have the option to import your character, it's just that the ultimate sacrifice won't be recognized as the choice you made, and I have no problem with that at all. Death still has meaning, if you want that to be a characters story then make it so by starting up the Orlesian Grey Warden. I don't really see any foul here.

If you start with an Orlesian Warden EVERYTHING you did in Origins doesn't matter, the story will not continue, and everything you did in Origins will have no consequence or outcome.

Oh come on, if they hadn't done
something like this, you'd all be here complaining that your warden
making the sacrifice basically makes that file not worth the
transfer....seesh, some people just cant be satisfied.

No, if
they made it so our choices actually mattered we wouldn't be
complaining.

The problem isn't even that they let you play as a
dead Warden, the problem is they don't let your dead Warden have any
effect on anything and they won't let you play as an Orlesian Warden who
is affected by your previous warden. They take everything you did in
Origins and made it pointless and stupid. All the Epiloge descriptions
of what the characters did after you beat the game in Origins don't mean
anything, niether did the "Ultimate Sacrifice" you made since you never
actually affected anyone's lives, and the Blight was stopped without
you.

Awakening and Origins have turned into 2 seperate entities
now, and one of the stories are just made up crap that never happened.

So i
take it's either

- Sacrificed someone else: Import your character

-
Sacrificed yourself: start with some Orlesian guy (and a random canon
backstory? NO Import?)

- Sacrificed yourself but want to import your
decisions: The Lazarus glitch again?

You made the
ultimate sacrifice... ULTIMATE, didn't you read the fine print of your
grey warden contract? Besides you start off with a lvl 15 orlesian
character that you can make as your character you sacrificed so what is
the real problem?  you know where to put your stats and atributes in.

You
either die, or sacrificed another character or did the morrigan
thing... sounds like a fair trade off

This isn't
about stats or apperance, it's about story, the story which Bioware has
destroyed.

But I would still
like my decisions throughout the original game to matter, even if I'm

I don't think Bioware
cares anymore really.

I guess, that once you´ll import sacrfised character, you won´t die, but it´ll take a path of Morigan´s proposal, or so.

I expect the same. The ultimate sacrifice ending is just being ignored. The game simply doesn't acknowledge it.

Instead, the Dark Ritual is the 'default.' By DA 2, it will simply be canon.

That could be somewhat cool, I wouldn't consider it Dragon Age anymore, but we'll find out what an Old God in a human host thing will be like in some alternate Dragon Age like Universe, that isn't actually Dragon Age.

One thing I wonder though, Is why did they even have multiple endings when only one of the endings is truly valid? Just to tease people, to ****** them off, or to make them think their actions have meaning until the expansion comes (which by that time it doesn't anymore)?

Or maybe like I said, they just don't really care.

Yeah, I was hoping to start a US import file, so the Orlesian Warden would see the statue and hear of the now deceased hero's exploits in Fereldan. Starting a brand new game DA:A without import just feels like skipping an entire chapter book.

What I'm wondering is, if your warden is dead in Origins, why do you all even bother trying to import the character. They're dead, gone, shuffled off their mortal coil etc. etc. From an RP perspective I would have thought you would have either imported another character or started a new one.

because, *sniff*, the choices, man! the choices! it's all about the choices! bioware should have spent tons of more money to import more choices! now, only the choices made by a living warden matter. it's so........sad.

It seems Awakening takes a "darkspawn chronicles" turn if you start with an Orlesian where your warden never really existed and Alistair was left to do everything, except that in this alternatve universe he didn't get completely owned by darkspawn at the end, of course.

I don't think it's unreasonable that Ultimate Sacrifice players would get upset over that. The ability to carry over the choices your dead Warden made should have been included. The dialogue for the choices is already there anyway.

Who cares about RP perspective this isn't ****ing Dungeons and Dragons, its not Rogue its not Wizardry, the story continues whether or not you die at the end.  Even more so because there is a cinematic and an epilogue it IS a viable ending that was not implemented in Awakenings because it was rushed.

And I agree with what Yummysoap said.  Anyway Awakenings seemed more like a spinoff.
