Interesting, so people bought these packs strictly for the items, got nothing else out of them, and didn't get to use them for say 30-50 hours in Origins and will continue to be able to use them whenever they load up Origins, and the fact you won't ever really use it in Awakening due to the fact that the gear will quickly be outclassed holds no water apparently. Would the added hassle and effort needed to make it function properly really be wroth it in the end or would that time and constant testing be better spent elsewhere.
-I didn't buy RTO strictly for the items, but considering how short it was, I would have felt cheated without the items.
-I didn't use those items for 30-50 hours. In fact, I doubt if I used them for 5 hours.
-I won't likely load up Origins again. Four times is enough.
-The argument that I won't use it in Awakenings doesn't hold water. It's a huge assumption. You don't know what gear will be available, and you don't know how I choose my gear.
-I doubt the time and effort required to include these items would really be all that significant. They can pull some money from Mass Defect's advertising budget to pay the overtime.

So you will be using gear for a lvl 20 max character when you are level 30 or higher?
That's what I've been saying as well. Most people are just caught up in the moment (aka, pissed off because this came up as such a shock), but if you think about it rationally you'll out-level DLC gear pretty fast and getter new, better stuff as well. And of course you won't start naked.Vuokseniska wrote...

Why go through the added effort of making certain items that not everyone has in their game importable when you'll more then likely be equipped with better gear half an hour into the game.

I totally agree i have said this like 5-10 times so far but no one seems to agree with me. I mean your going to get better and cooler looking armor i bet.
Really when i bought the stuff and yes i bought the stuff it never said once "This armor will be able to be used in all future expansions and new DA games."Maedryc wrote...

Maybe nobody agrees with you because we don't really care. We paid for the DLC content just like we paid for Origins. They were supposed to be part of the game, not just a community mod that might end up being unsupported later on.
We don't want "better and cooler looking armor", we want to keep the items we've paid for. Wearing a set of warden commander armor for some people defines their character as much as their class or talents. Is this so hard to understand?

Me either. But for that matter, I've not seen a shred of evidence to suggest that it's a technical issue anyway. The FAQ merely says that DLC items won't be ported over. That could mean lots of things... including start-game balance issues, simple developer decision making etc.jsachun wrote...
Seriously, I can't understand the technical difficulty behind allowing dlc items to appear in the Expansion.

Yes it would be nice to keep the commander armor but suck it up. It's likely they might even have that armor in the new game that you will be able to get later on how do you know? And starfang is an ok sword but i mean if i could get an amazing new warden commander sword i would be happy. Also you wont be able to use the armor in the expansion but you still can in Origins.Maedryc wrote...

And its why the fools of this thread just don't understand out anger. this is not an expansion, its a whole new game, calling itself an expansion with a retail price of a full game.
Not sure if its been stated yet, but I would imagine that you dont even need DA:O to play Awakenings....and if thats the case, then we truly do know what EA are going to make Bioware do with this franchise.
So far we have been miseld, lied to (and dev posts unless deleted can prove this) and the whole thing is becoming utterly shambolic.
The king is dead, long live £A (and no that was not a typo).

What " added effort" are we talking about here? They don't have to do anything for your DLC items to get imported over. Once you download a DLC, those items become part of the game's resources. They'll appear in any Dragon Age mod, DLC or expansion that you import your equipped character into.
The opposite is actually true, Bioware had to go through the effort to specifically make those items non-portable to Awakening.
Haha i do know and i could stop but i really just don't want to. I say it to be more of a dick .Maedryc wrote...

Awakening is not a "future game". It's an expansion. Wanna a link to know the meaning of the word? It means it adds to your game. It's not a different game. It's something that is supposed to improve your play experience.
DLC are supposed to work with DAO. Awakening, being an expansion rather than a new game, is still a part of DAO. I don't give a crap if I can still use the content I paid for in the original game, which I happen to have finished 1 week away from release: there is no logical reason for said content not to be imported in the expansion, and this precedent makes buying any more DLC in the future a no-no for me, and I suspect for quite a bit of other people.
PS: Saying "sorry, it's my nature" does absolutely nothing to excuse you. If you're aware that you're being rude and you don't want to be, stop being rude. If you don't care, don't apologize. Nobody I know goes around slapping people and apologizing because "it's their nature". And it's a good thing, because I don't think anybody would take said apology seriously.

I'm sure they knew you guys would be so connected to the armor that you would cry about it on the forums. It would be nice to have it yes but I'm sure that it caused problems so they had to take it out.
I don't think they will, it will probably work similar to the FORCE LOAD option in Dragon Age Origins, which is offered if you are missing a DLC for a save, it will load but the items wont be there.Feraele wrote...
The other thing I am wondering about this..is: will your save files get corrupted because your dlc items appear there, and then when you go to play Awakening.......will this create bugs/ problems? Due to the fact the dlc items aren't portable to the new expac.
