I just stumbled across this in the ME wiki - and I havn't come across this in-game or by anyone on the forums. Am I missing something?

I think some of the Wikia Editors have been licking Drells.

The Cerberus Daily News Editors must be licking Drells.

Wonder if they'll be introduced in DLC, ala Batarians or we'll have to wait till ME3.

Brand new species who just launched a space telescope and spotted the asari. So, the asari and many other species are greeting the new species. Good thing the asari found them first, would have sucked for them if they ran into the turians first. Turians may have just colonized them and made them an auxiliary species for them....

“The Citadel Council welcomes the planet Turvess to the galactic community today. The planet's sentient species, the raloi, launched their first space telescope into orbit last year, which detected the presence of the asari cruiser Azedes. Tomorrow, visitors from all over the galaxy will land outside six cities on Turvess, bearing welcome wishes and gifts for the raloi. Tickets for the Council's sponsored ships have been sold out for months, and due to disease concerns, no other ships are legally allowed planetfall at that time. A comm buoy near Turvess will be dedicated to sending welcome messages to the planet for twenty galactic standard hours.”

Urgh, that would annoy the hell out of me. It'd be like moving discreetly into a new neighbourhood in the evening, then waking up and getting the paper in your boxer shorts and the entire neighbourhood standing outside your front door.

You thought that the "scrolling wall of text" in the Cerberus Daily News was there just to cover some space? :P it's new news every day! :P

I was surprised so little people reacted to that, I thought it was pretty big news myself. :P

Didn't seem like that big of news to me. It's a new species added to the many species of the galaxy. We haven't even met the species that were conquered by the Turians before they joined yet. The meteor heading to a hanar planet or something I thought was bigger news than a welcoming party.

I don't particularly think a new species is necessary but I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Considering they mentioned something about "dozens of minor races" in ME1, I figured they could just keep pulling random species out of their asses to fill the voids...

This just seems like a tidbit to me. Nothing to bother over. Trivial.

Those guys picked the worst time to join the party. If they had just kept quiet and sat nicely on their planet, the Reapers might have never even paid attention to them.

Perhaps it'll be relevant to an expansion pack, or something?

Raloi squad mate and LI for Mass Effect 3

I will soon be opening a Raloi love thread.

This actually really interests me because very rarely in science fiction do we get to see a new alien species being introduced/uplifted to the Council/Federation and the universe at large. The Bajorans from DS9 come close but they already had space travel. For once humans are the aliens and the Raloi will gaze up in wonder at our unusual forms

I am Commander Shepard and this is my favorite species in the galaxy

I dunno, the back of the head ruins it for me. I keep picturing what it might look like under the flaps on the head...

How did Shakespeare's Hamlet hold up to the test of time, yet Jean-Luc Picard's fierce loyalty to the prime directive gets lost in history?......tragic

Because here in the real world, people love to meddle.

BioWare knows this.
