Turians are very anal about rules, and for me it is perfectly understandable what they did to the humans, AT FIRST. By blowing up vessels about to open a new relay. THAT I do not condemn. After all, they paid, indirectly the price for unauthorized Relay travel, they had to quel the Krogan rebellions which is nothing more than the interest for the mistake the Salarians made.

WTF?!?

So a blind man walks into a building and can't read the no trespassing sign so.... you shoot him? After the guy couldn't possibly realize what he was doing was wrong, which is NO right to kill them instead of trying tell him what he is doing. To me the turians are just egotistical towards the other races especially when it comes views of other races. The fact that theyd attack then go to war with a new comer species is a perfect example of that. They attacked the humans who were completely unaware of the existence of a galatic governing body simply because they viewed them as just another ignorant species and were too on their high horse to try to explain the rules. Then continued to press and attack humanity and only took humanity seriously when they kicked their ass over shanxi.

Anyway the only better race to find them besides the asari would probably be the hanar (look what they did for the drell).

If you read. I dont agree with the aftermath.

For example.

Much like that terra firma dude...

If a kid had their finger over the nuclear button, you wouldn't just slap their hand you would tackle them the hell out of the way. I dont care if the kid doesn't know what the button does, or is ignorant about a group that is in charge of the button, I would tackle shoot or punch the kid right of the button.

NEVERTHELESS, after the kid gets knocked out, I do not agree, which you fail to read or didn't want to, to go after the kid's mom dad and everyone around him, and shoot the hell out of them too. Is a waste of resources and counter productive.

Example you gave doesn't make sense, blind and ignorant are not the same thing. Before humans came along everyone paid a heavy tole for stupidity of blind space travel, it is understandable to blow the hell out of the fleet trying to activate the Relay.

My point was the difference BETWEEN humans and the Raloi, Raloi don't have a space fleet.

Humans did, humans had space defenses.

I dont deny turians woudl blow the damn telescope off the dam map but after it they would kind a question why aren't there more, only to realize it was the only one and stop there.

very different scenarios, but still not justiying what turians did, just breaking it down in pieces and explaining each one.

So a innocent kid has his hand on a button that will open a door which could be completely harmless, but could be bad? So you shoot him in the head instead of trying to talk to him? WTF? They blew up the exploratory fleet when they didn't even know the council or the turians existed then attacked the humans in retaliation... No what the turians did was clearly wrong, they were just on their high horse as galactic police force that they murdered innocent people.

And the whole point with the blind guy was that there is no way he could know that he was trespassing (ignorant) so you should try to talk to him. Do you seriously think killing an ignorant person is the right solution when the outcome is extremely vague as to what would actually result (especially since the most likely solution would be nothing bad coming about it)?

Anyway there is a good chance the raloi dont actually come up in the new game considering that they would be a hugely minor race, no good tech, tiny population so would barely see them. They might make a very small appearance or be mentioned, but i doubt theyll be in the actual game or in a completely minor appearance.

I am just saying what a militarily driven mind would say.

Protocol is usually, be sorry rather than dead.

If somebody is aiming at you....nvm not you coz your civie.

If somebody is in the street, and aiming, and I dont recognize him, I been trained to shoot, period, dont care my my orders of engagements are, I pop the guy.

If a ballistic missile sudddenly appears on radar, and I receivve visual confirmation is a ballistic missile, BUT we have no scanners in the area whether or not is nuclear.

Well sorry folks, but what if is nuclear.

That is what military thinking is regarding high risk scenarios, you dont wait until it happens to formulate an answer. If something like a rachni war could happen again, you make agressive protocol dictating action.

Is like Nuclear weapons.

If you pick up a radar signature. ballistic missile incoming, visual confirmation is affirmative. Military dont act like civies thinking "ah....maybe is not nuclear, we'll just wait. If we get vaporized,....it was nuclear, if it wasn't then no harm done"...right? lol France thought the same prior to WW2
"we got the biggest land army, and Hitler would never attack us"
THeir answer was delivered as panzer tanks defeated the greatest european army in  a couple of days.

Like they described the Rachni wars, and if a Relay is just like a nuke, you dont think WHAT IF your wrong. You act based on the assumption your right. Now while it is arrogant, I agree, and I AGREE Turians went BEYOND protocol to go bomb a planet that was defenseless.

Military protocol, as every contingency plan every government has ever conceived is based on one philosophy:

" It is easier to ask for forgiveness than it is to ask for mercy"

Or the other version which is used by politicians:
"is better to ask for forgiveness than it is to ask for permission"

SO again. I DO NOT agree with what Turians DID after they destroyed the Scout flotilla, or scout fleet w/e.

That is just protocol dictating no new relays are to be open, or pandora's box scenario could very well ensue.

The rules of engagment are there to prevent civilian even if they ****** off soldiers and make it easier for the enemy to operate (just look at afganistan).    My main point is the turians should have tried to stop them from activating the relay like maybe a warning shot.  Like what many US soldiers do at checkpoints shoot a warning shot or signal to stop, then if they keep coming shoot to kill.  My criticism of the turians was that they made no attempt to stop then except without force.  They shot to kill immeadiately.  Also comparing the mass relay to a ballistic missile is not fair.  A ballistic missile is clearly a threat opening a mass relay would most likely have no result (considering the number of realys activated and how only 1 resulted in a galactic conflict id say it would be low) a man with a gun is clearly a threat.  The mass relay is not indicative of a direct threat (in my opinion) as the chances of a hostile species as advanced but not exploring yet is quite low.  Also if you are in the military i have the utmost respect for you (i am actually most likely going to join the military after college) and my point is just about the nature of the turians decision to immeadiately use lethal force (especially on someone so unaware) on such a questoinable threat.

I am talking about the bigger picture dammit, not the smaller picture.

1 Relay is all it took to create a massive galactic wide genocide.

1 Missile is all it takes to do the same.

Look. Everyone has different protocols, their "society" is more discipline, so they take more to heart "shoot first ask later, just to be safe" mentality.

Now lastly, I didn't get your first sentence....

"The rules of engagment are there to prevent civilian even if they ****** off soldiers and make it easier for the enemy to operate (just look at afganistan)."

Prevent civilians from...? civilian casualties?

If your saying civilian casualties. I am not talking about small encounter or checkpoint rules of engagement.

I dont...know what type of warning shot could be fired out of Kinetic based weaponry... that they KNOW for a fact wont penetrate the alliance shields.

There are to many unknowns.

Picture a bomber....an UNwilling suicide bomber.

if you shoot his shoulder, or head, IT MIGHT trigger the explosion.

If you shoot and damage the alliance ships, they might think is easier to escape through the relay and come back, than to .....hump the way back through empty space hoping not to get shot.

I would.

If my option is to go into a town, or run my ass back to base through 20 miles of open space....I go into the town.

Now. If you blow the vessels, there is no chance the relay might be activated.

Now in suicide bomber example.

You aim for the T....snipers use it to aim at the base of the skull through your nose. You hit that spot, and you kill the bomber on the spot, all signals form the brain stop, and the body goes stiff, 99% chance of him not mistakenly setting the bomb off by reflex.

All that comes down to is the risk......is the risk big enough to just fire a warning shot, or you rather say sorry and avoid galactic genocide.

Still, Turians then went off to finish bombard and....w/e they did after was just excessive force.

They shot the sniper. No argument there

But then they called artillery strikes, air bombing, mortars on the snipers position........excessive to say the least

Rachni were indoctrinated by Sovereign/Nazara.

why not put the golden skin green blooded elves in the series (as elder humans/distant older cousins of the humans)? They could been inhabiting mars (earth's twin) yet abandoned it billions of years ago as it became inhabitable (could make a interesting plot twist. they could have been the ones who left behind the mass relay discovered on mars).
