Boycotting a game release will never ever work, unless you can convince major retailers to not carry it until issues are resolved. Why? Because gamers will spew stuff like "lets boycott and sign petitions" and then they turn around and buy it on release day anyway. And retailers know this so convincing them to not carry the game is not going to happen. A very small percentage will actually speak with their wallets while the vast majority won't.

Threads like this just make you seem naive. No offense intended.

Gamers are such fickle whiners. They expect a game to be great, then they purchase DLC's and add-ons that they themselves are unsatisfied with, which means that they're silently encouraging companies to do stuff like this in the future because they're willing to give them money.

I don't begrudge BioWare or EA from doing this - if enough morons are willing to whine and complain about how much the new add-on will stuck, yet are too weak-willed or stupid to prevent themselves from buying it, I say let them. If I were in charge, I'd probably do the same thing.

If you're going to buy the expansion knowing beforehand that you're not happy with the direction that it's going or if you think it will be an inferior product, then you've forfeited the right to complain.

That's how I feel aswell, alltough I seriously don't understand how anyone can complain about the expansion before it's even released. I will wait until the reviews comes in, before I make my desicions,

To try to boycott the expansion pack would be ridiculous. I will buy it certainly, but I would still be annoyed that all of that gear was fought for for nothing, I might as well sell it off at Bodahn Feddic's before proceeding.

However, to try to appeal to the team to create a patch which allows DCL content to go into the expansion pack, that is a different matter. But being difficult will not help anyone.

this a good rule of thumb and one im adopting.
No more DLC for me (that I pay for) till its longer and more involved and well worth the $5.00 price tag!

Wait, so you want to boycott a game because the last one has bugs that are not all fixed right away? That's not how patches work.

I think adults who play video games should grow up start worrying about real issues.

Start an online petition, they always work great! If that's a little to complicated for you, start a Facebook group.

People can complain and say they won't buy it, and they could stay true to their word.  However, that doesn't stop the other 100 people, some who never visit these boards, to fill a company's ego.   So, the people complaining could be legit in their complaints.

However, I do find it hard to say "never" when Bioware has 1 month to convince the populace otherwise.

To base a decision solely on reviews is unwise, as reviews can be bought.  You have to do your own research and decide, "Is the content that Bioware is offering me worth $40?"

But aren't you a gamer?

While it's a little cheap for Bioware to focus more on money-making (DLC, expansions, etc.) rather than patches (not that I know what goes on over there, but it certainly seems that way), I don't think boycotting would work for reasons already listed. :( But, it would be great if a nice chunk of people would boycott.
I have crashes all the time, and it's bothersome, especially on nightmare after I've made a nice chunk of progress.

I feel your pain. I had CTD's all the time, due to the issues with certain Radeon cards. What did I do? I got a new video card, and the problem went away. Now, I know not everyone can do this, but let's be realistic. The % of people who are having these issues is quite small. If they were more widespread, trust me, it would be all over the gaming sites.

I guess what I am trying to say is, a boycott is not likely to work. *Has memories of the ill-fated Left For Dead 2 boycott*

I think a delay is more appropriate, a boycott is not necessary.

That one was just pathetic. Now the CoD: MW2 boycott, that was a laugh, 80% of the people in the boycott MW2 Steam group were playing the game on day one.

Meh the game has only crashed once or twice on me and that's because I was doing several other things on my PC at the same time while alt-tabing all over the place. Apart for that I've never really had any issue. So no boycott for me I guess.Posted Image

PS: To the OP, if you've had the issues on several occasions as is the sound from your post, why don't you keep multiple saves? If one DLC craps out they normally all do, and you'll find yourself with extra Blood Dragon armors and what not, should be a fairly good clue to re-load an earlier save.

Boycotting a game, 'cause ure not able to configure your pc properly?  I'm on my 4th playthrough, have all DLC, got a bunch of user made content (like changing faces, armor and adding better textures) installed. And ive never experienced and CTD's. You cant expect game dev's to make sure every lame-o pc config can run their game (awesome games) properly.
And no im not interested in your pc specs. All im saying is it's not their fault you **** up and lost your gear.

I haven't had any problem with the dlc since they released Ostagar.

Boycotting really won't accomplish much. The momentum of the game is going forward whether a person wants it to or not, predominantly because aside of some bugs which they've ironed out, it is a solid story and a good game. You're better off submitting a letter of complaint. Though the impact is really, just the same.

Then go buy the game, if everybody who HAD problems would boycott it, it would have a real impact on the sales, just look the tech forums dear god!

OK, Ill buy the game as I also had no issues (working wise) with the DLC.
Length and story involvement yes, big issues, but it all worked fine.

LOL

Just for you:

i5 750
GTX 260²
4 Gig

And now comes the real "slap in the face", I HADE NO PROBLEMS UNTIL RECENTLY! I played through the game just when the game was released and never had a CTD back then (that I remember). Now, after I installed Shale/Warden/Blood Armor I got so many CTDs it made no fun at all. Still I fixed this problem for myself, with cracking the game.exe, nice eh? But the hole **** with disappearing DLC Items out of nowhere still suck. No I am playing an old save again and lost about 2 hours. Still got some random CTDs, but can life witht hat. And hell I can reproduce a CTD by just Alt + Tabbing out of the game while it is paused, this bug existed since release!

Comments like yours really ****** me off, I got an education in pc networks and know more about PCs then you might think, still the hole problem has nothing to do with PC specs, because nothing to my computer changed. So please carry on..

Just because you've never experienced CTDs on your superior PC doesn't mean people who are experiencing CTDs have a "lame-o PC config."

My specs are the same as Samurro except with an 8 gig, and my problem is the same as his. I'm fully aware I can run DAO smoothly. Besides that, I don't know much about PCs.. but I do know not to make a complete stuck-up ass out of myself while pointing the finger at people that I assume have "LAME-O PC CONFIGS" LOLOLOL!
