Tali better survive because Tali IS Mass Effect.
Actually I think you'll find that Shepard is Mass Effect. Shepard dies in the suicide mission, no save for import into ME3. Tali dies in the suicide mission, the story goes on without her.

And on a side note I always saw Tali and Wrex rated as the top favorite squadmates in ME1, and while Tali is back in a big way I was very disappointed that the default status of Wrex is KIA, seems like kind of a poor move given he was more popular than Garrus in ME1 (btw I like Garrus a lot more in ME2 his character has come a long ways)

The only thing I don't understand, is this;
How can people like Tali etc so much when there are characters like Wrex, Grunt, Zaeed, etc.
I don't know, perhaps it's cause I grew up on Shwarzenegger, Stallone, Van Dame, Segal, Willis, etc style action heros, but I like characters that kick ass and chew bubble gum.
I like Tali, don't get me wrong, I just don't get the level of followers the character has compared to the likes of Grunt.
I mean, grunt is like the equivalent of Conan the Barbarian... on my team, in space.
I dunno, I just don't get it lol.
I think the prime reason Grunt doesn't have that many fans is because he feels like a copy of Wrex, and he is in so many ways. I like the character a lot, but I like Wrex more
As for Zaeed, he is awesome but I like Tali more, namely due to the fact she IS also a badass. Sure she has a soft, cute side, but she also a : "I will tear your limbs one by one" side just as Wrex and Zaeed do.

Someone please lock this before it degenerates into a flame war?
Or it turns into another "save Tali" thread?

Getting a thread to 18k posts in 8 days isn't "having a good time", it's an obsession.
I'd rather say "an animated conversation". I'll admit that the thread moves frighteningly fast, but people are talking to each other most of the time, not just posting "ZOMG I LURVE TALI!!!!1111oneoneoneleven".

Leave them to their fun, there is really no need to call them "creepy".

To kick major reaper arse I think that Shepard is going to rally all forces of the galaxy to fight them. The quarians have a gigantic fleet and the geth have superior numbers and unusual tech not seen anywhere in the galaxy. Turians have a huge and disciplined standing army, the salarians have the best recon teams out there and the asari have been in the universe for a while and posses amazing biotic abbilities. Krogan are brutal warriors. and the rachni still remain a mystery.
I think that tali and legion, and for other obvious reasons the other squadmates as well, are gonna be key characters in the next installment of our beloved game series. They are gonna help rally their people for the cause of preserving the universe as we know it.

Among the examples of OTHER fandoms:
a) People believing that fictional video game characters are actually real. As an example, some nutty fangirl who thinks that she married Sepiroth in the spirit world.

c) The people who viciously argue about romantic couples within their fandoms. This is called "shipping." Harry Potter comes to mind.
d) Twilight.
e) Movie and television actors/actresses. May I remind you that a politician was assassinated by someone who wanted to impress a female celebrity.

Anime.
People like him ruin anime for the sane anime fans, just like obsessive Tali fanboys make Mass Effect look bad. I bet if Bioware made a Tali pillow you guys would eat that **** up.

Actually, you're thinking of John Hinckley shooting Reagan to impress Jodie Foster.
Much as I like the Tali character (I thought her loyalty quest was the best one), I wouldn't want to infringe on the writers' freedom by telling them what to do with their characters. If the story requires that Tali return to the Migrant Fleet to serve on the Admiralty Board and thus can't be a squadmate in ME3, for example, so be it. I'd rather they tell a good story than try to cater to the desires of fans.

It's always the biggest fans that get the most attention. But seriously, as someone who has seen and posted in the Tali thread, people are exaggerating how big the fans are. It's growing popular to consider the Tali fans as fanatical, dogmatic, or what have you. Often when people reject something based upon it's popularity, they will embrace something else due to its popularity. For example, the Twilight people and the Twilight haters. Both are popular.TerribleTruth wrote...

No, I'm pretty sure it's the pages upon pages of creepy discussions, fanficion, and fanart that does it.

unless you are that dedicated and have that much time to prove that the fans are obsessed. Are you?
I haven't seen anything truly creepy. Fanfiction and fanart is pretty much standard fare for any popular video game or book. There's some geeky stuff in the thread, sure, but nothing creepy.

It isn't by and large creepy. But there have always been a few fans, that I wouldn't name if I could remember who they were, who make a big deal out of having sex with her. So many comments are wasted on her hips or the fact that she has breasts, which sort of sickens me - as much as I admire the female form myself, I don't go around talking about it like that or with such intensity.
Then again, it is a forum. Normal conversation can be endlessly debated in ways people wouldn't have the patience for in real life, if the conversation is on a forum.

Every page is basically the same. You'd only know if you actually read all or most of those pages, which you haven't...
Fanart and fanfiction can be fine. I'll enjoy a good Master Chief fanart any day, but if I started writing stuff like...
It would get creepy. From that point on, coherent thought was lost to
Tali’Zorah vas NormandyMaster Chief Petty Officer John-117, and the inferno that had built itself withinherhis heart was unleashed thoughoutherhis body.

You'd only know this if you actually looked through most of the pages, in which case I would say you are trying too hard to convince yourself that the fans are obsessive or creepy.TerribleTruth wrote...

This is true of any popular video game or book. You can easily find on the net an immense amount of fanfiction for popular games like Final Fantasy, Halo, or whatever. I believe there was a Harry Potter site that was targeted by represenatives of J.K. rowling, who wanted the site taken down because of the thousands of sexually explicit fanfiction.Fanart and fanfiction can be fine.
