With the exception of the Cain, I feel it would be easier to just use one of my other guns to kill somebody (Hardcore/Insanity).
Grenade Launcher: Actually okay, it doesn't have much ammo though and the projectiles travel slowly with weak auto lock (I.E it makes you miss). You'll aim to hit the wall next to someone (so you can't really miss) and the Grenade will correct itself in the air, causing it to fly into the horizen instead or you'll aim directly at the guy, and he'll just duck.
Missile Launcher: Rarely hits the target you where aiming for and its projectiles are weak. Can be fired without LOS but Shep leaves cover to fire it anyway.
Flamer: Does very low damage, has very short range. Overall never usefull.
Particle Beam: One of the only usefull HW's. Good for quickly taking out loads of weaker enemies.
Cryo Gun: Has the same issues as the other Cryo attacks (does not affect shielded enemies).
Cain: The other useful HW. Basically a "Skip Fight" button.
I think HW's needed a bit more balancing and testing before release but thats just my $0.02.
Am I the only one that finds most Heavy Weapons lack "oomph"

The only ones I found use for were the Particle Beam and Blackstorm... and even then I mostly just use regular weapons. Mostly reserve them for some boss fights.

they serve their purpose. there not suppose to be main weapons, they have limited ammo. if there was more ammo or they were more powerfull, you wouldnt need to use any other weapon.

I understand that, it just feels like I'm never in a situation where using the HW would be a better idea than just using my other guns.

It gets really good fun when you mod [SFXGameContent_Inventory.SFXHeavyWeapon_NukeLauncher] with this tool http://social.biowar...t/1854/#details

I have to agree with you to a certain extent but however this Heavy Weapons does work well in some situations especially against larger targets. My favourite HW atm would be the grenade launcher, missile launcher and partical beam.
I just wish that they have more firepower as it takes alot of HW ammo just to kill 1 single target like the YIMR Mechs. Take this video for example:
http://www.youtube.c...u/1/5L2Cu4h0WyU
it takes 13 ammos from the grenade launcher to take out 1 shield and 3/4 of it's armor. It would be erm..."realistic" if it only takes half of that ammunition to do that right?

I think the point is that they are meant to be situational. For example, any time I will be facing Harbringer, I take the Collector's Particle Beam, and it almost trivializes the encounter. The missile launcher is useless, but that is a good thing, since if it wasn't, all those missiles in early game would shred you. I use the cain from time to time, but it is like me on date night with my wife, a one shot wonder.
Now, the firestorm. This is awesome. But awesome, mostly, for only the vanguard. Charge + flame-thrower = pure awesome.

I rarely use Heavy weapons as a Vanguard, and pretty much never as a Soldier (Revenant > most Heavy weapons). The Blackstorm I like in some fights, namely any where I'm being pelted from a position with little to no cover between me and it. The missile-launching Vorcha at the end of Mordin's recruitment mission and the Geth supporting the Colossus are my two favourite uses for it.
I use the Collector Beam against Scions and occasionally against Harbingers (again, as a Vanguard, Revenant is better).
The Cain is cool, but its prohibitive warm-up period and incredible ammo-demands means I only use it against the ... giant worm whose name escapes me during Grunt's loyalty mission... Thresher Maw, and when I'm retrieving the crates from the three Ymir mechs.

Oddly enough the heavy weapons have much more use for the classes (adept, engineer and sentinel) that, thematically at least, seem the least inclined to use them. Soldiers, who should be the heavy weapons specialist, often seem to do better without them. In fact, the most use I got from heavy weapons with my soldier was using the cryo gun for a bit of crowd control in long range fire fights.

The flamethrower was essential for me to survive Grunt's loyalty mission and the Quarian rescue mission against all the varren. Its actually very strong and has excellent range for a flamethrower.

the one I find my self using the most is the missile launcher just because i can basically use it as another power, I never care if it hits who I am aiming at as long as it causes a lot of damage to something and requires no aiming. I'm constantly underwhelmed with the collector's beam but its useful against YMIR Mechs on the crate mission. The Cain is indeed a skip fight button.

I try not to use Heavy Weapons as you can beat most guys if you're really careful and I need the money from picking up heavy ammo crates while at max.
I'm going to take this moment to complain about the new ammo system, I don't like it.

Firestorm is nice unless you have a really good shotgun with ammo power.

the cain is good but low ammo kinda kills it a bit, only used for boss fights, rest of the time it's me and my AR's
as for future heavy weapons in DLC, PLEASE can we have something of a multi-barrel variety assault weapon? i mean to say, with micro mass effect field to nulify the weight of the gun could explain how it can be carried

I absolute love the cain, and it's practically the only heavy weapon I use. Want, to skip a boss fight? Use the cain.

I think the most useful heavy weapon would be the grenade launcher or missile launcher because they have a good amount of ammo to use and are very flexible depending on who you are fighting. The other ones seem more situational like the flamethrower is for close range and the blackstorm is for killing multiple enemies quickly.

gah, thats what i hate about the cain. if you know the 2-3 situations that could merit it, you effectively have a, like you said "skip fight" button. it makes those situations pointless, because of the one weapon perfectly designed to end it in 2 seconds. well its not like i have to use it i guess....
cryo gun is an utter waste of space like every other cryo ability, ive watched the videos, and outside insanity there is no reason to not simply kill them once their at health. husks and klixen are the only thing that would ever merit anything cryo, and i can insta-kill with incinerate on veteran and just juggle klixen with concussive shot/ throw.
collector beam is great when my pathetically limited sniper runs low of ammo, best one IMO.
dont why the missile launcher fires pistol shots, the widow does twice as much damage....also with half the max ammo, it should be the heavy weapon.
grenade launcher was actually okay for me, nothing fancy, just some good ole splash damage
blackstorm...by the time it charges, enemies are all over the place and the whole point of it is gone..and again, defenses screw it over.

i don't know, but i wish i could leave mine on the ship i would like to have no weapons on my back if i am not going to use them.
ex: Vanguard only shotgun and pistol on my side would be sweet no heavy weapon on my back

Avalanche is awesome. Sure it doesnt affect shielded enemies, but it blows through shields REALLY fast and fires as fast as you can pull the trigger. 3 or 4 shots (and I carry 29) is enough to freeze any pack of normal enemies on insanity. It's basically a rapid fire grenade launcher that freezes O.o
Only HW I use, since I refuse to touch the Cain

IMO, the Cain has WAY too much oomph. I got increasingly frustrated when I died four times in a row just trying to kill the Praetorian with it, but whenever I'd hit it, I would always die fromthe massive blast radius. It packs a helluva punch against the Terminator, though.

I use the Grenade Launcher, but not for damage. Mainly to knock grouped enemies down and scatter them.

I like the Firestorm a lot, used it exclusively as the Hvy wep on my Infiltrator as the Widow made the other heavies redundant. It's got good damage range and ammo capacity, you can burn it up constantly for a long time. It's an amazing defensive weapon against melee hordes and shotgun charging enemies and on the offense clears enemies out faster than any shotgun I've used.
On my soldier I found the best thing to use was the Blackstorm, if you're playing on a difficulty where horde-level enemies (i.e. husks and collector drones) don't have armor this weapon can clean out a whole crowded room in no time. This thing made the derelict reaper mission a cakewalk, when a scion would appear with a horde of husks all I'd have to do is lob a shot at the Scion on the other side of the room and it'd suck up all the husks and take out a fair bit of the scion's armor in the process.
I'd say the most generally useful one to take is the collector beam weapon, it's good against everything and is as accurate as a sniper and has enough ammo capacity to allow you to fire it for a good amount of the time.

Generally speaking, for me it's Particle Cannon all the way with the Avalanche a mediocre second. The Particle beam works like an uber heavy machine gun and just slices straight through hordes of anything - plus I really like beam weapons.
The Avalanche is a weird crowd controlling weapon. I couldn't figure it out, but the few missions I used it it also came up trumps, stopping whole hordes in their tracks.

I tried the Firestorm on Insanity on the Reaper IFF mission. My thoughts were, all those massive waves of husks at the end will be burned easily! Turns out the cone for the flame launcher is pathetic, and I couldn't hit more than 1 or 2 husks at a time with it. Additionally, the damage is pathetic. Switched back to just taking out their armor and 1shotting them with biotics for the rest of the mission.
I'd say Firestorm and Missle Launcher need the most help

I use the Cain only when I want to skip the Thresher Maw fight.
Otherwise I bring the collector beam weapon along with me because it cuts through lesser enemies like a hot knife through butter. And it comes with enough ammo that I can actually use it in this capacity - anything tries to flank me and my squad? I just burn it down quickly before it can cause any havoc.
