They will be doing more patches; to be honest, I'm glad they haven't had to patch too often so far, since to me it would mean that their QA teams didn't do their jobs properly.

What needs to be patched, anyway?

Thats good, as long as the patch is also a separate download for non DA:A owners. I doubt BioWare will be guilty of putting important fixes for the main game into an expansion you have to pay for, and nowhere else... but you never know now-a-days.lewgiffard wrote...
From the Awakening FAQ:
"Have fixes (like balance, bugs, etc) from Dragon Age: Origins been included in Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening?
Awakening will come with the latest executable patch / title update for Dragon Age: Origins."

I'm thinking about this too.
There are still many bugs in the game that need to be fixed.
Maybe they're preparing a very big patch?

Well, as of now, that would simply mean Awakening comes with 1.02. The FAQ doesn't exactly promise a newer version with the release of Awakening.lewgiffard wrote...

Personally, I DO think there will be a patch with or maybe even shortly before Awakening, but don't take that FAQ as a promise or you might be disappointed. I don't think we have any official word on the next patch, yet. At least none I'm aware of.

Since awakening comes out pretty darn soon, would be surprised if a new patch came out before that.
actually, I wouldn't see the point.
I think we will see a patch soon after or included in awakening.

Seriously? The memory leak, there's also a ton of small bugs in the game like the end game dialogue. Some of them have been fixed by mods but it shouldn't be left up to the modders.

Nothing critical, but there's a bunch of nuisances. The DLC (all of it) is buggy as Baator and Bioware is fully aware of this. On many systems (including mine), the game takes 100% of the CPU if you let it, but will happily run with lessif the CPU is otherwise taken. On some others (not mine), the loading times get progressively worse until one quits the game and comes back. I've also had a few crashes to desktop when using the high quality textures -- my guess is that there is some issue with unloading very large areas (like the Denerim Market District after you get access to a new part of it). And of course there is a host of in-game minor errors -- codex entries saying that a certain character died when said character is very much alive and various other outcomes that are inconsistent with the overall progression.
Bioware is working on a patch, but they usually take a few months to do one.

If they would just fix the damn memory leak problem, I would be happy.

They are still working on patches for this game. When Awakening drops, those who don't pick it up will still have access to the patch.
This is for PC. I have no idea what X-Box or PS3 users get.

A giant huandful of nothing..... I'd be happy if save coruption and the dex bug were fixed with a "title update" (it's what MS calls a patch, but patch is a PC word and we can't use a PC word on consoles). Honestly if there is an update with the expansion I'd be suprised.

This question pretty much summarizes an attitude that is unfortunately quite prevalent on messageboards, and even goes well beyond messageboards:
(when I say, "you" I mean it generally, not specifically alanc9)
If a problem doesn't affect you personally, then as far as you are concerned, it does not exist, and the people who bring it up are "whining and moaning."
You could try to defend this attitude by saying it is just a fact of life. A combination of "self-preservation", and the notion that "every man must tend to his own garden." But that still doesn't stop it from being awfully selfish and short-sighted.
I say short-sighted because what would happen in the future if you were experiencing a problem and everyone else said, "**shrug** Too bad, it's not my problem."
