I live about 1/2 way between Vancouver and Whistler in a small town called Squamish and I have to say that these Olympics, while I am enjoying watching them, the amount of travel restrictions they have put on our community seems a bit ridiculous. First they totally rebuilt the highway between Vancouver and Whistler, a project that took over 4 years, and then Vanoc decided it was not good enough so they made the highway workers set up all these cones to create more lanes, which in my oppinion makes the highway totally unsafe. In many cases the cones force you to drive on the shoulders of the road and navigating the slalom course can be extremely difficult at night.

Anyway my brother was lucky enough to be selected to be a ski jumping reserve judge and over about the past year he has been to several training sessions for that so he had a really great seat for that event.

All in all I think so far it has been a good and successful Olympics even though the wheather here has been horrible for the outdoor events. It has been the warmest winter we have had in a very very long time, even last year was much better then this. As proof of this the golf course I work at in Squamish is now open with the greens open and that happened on Febuary 5 and the earliest it has ever opened in the past was Feb 21.

Oh man, just saw Team USA vs Team Japan Women's curling -- it was so intense -- no wait, how did Conrad Verner say it in ME2? Oh yeah, extreme! Came down to a measurement and I don't think I should put spoilers on this thread.
