Here the modification I would do to the Captain Cabin
- On the same deck as your crew, too much loading for nothing (plus its weird to have a whole deck for yourself
-Trophy from missions
-Automatic feeder!
What would you add to the Captain Cabin

GTA4 style TV, showing humerous/informative adverts, Mass Effect style?
Perhaps a "Captain's Log" style of viewscreen where you could see how many of each type of enemy you'd killed, what weapon you'd used most, how often you'd used Incinerate, your hit/miss rate, etc. Geeky, but I find that kinda thing interesting.

- Access the Extranet on Shepard's personal workstation
- Watchable GTAIV style TV (Talogrungi's idea)
- Stats (Captain's Log Talogrungi's idea)
- More interaction with you LI
- Ability to reply to messages GTAIV style i.e. Paragon or Renegade replies
- Be able to personalise the cabin other than the models
Edits:
- Actually have a drink your cabin and get drunk with one or multiple members of your crew
- Shepard VI
- Mini games on the Workstation
- Fish Feeder
- More choice of casual outfits
- Not really cabin but on the Normandy a test range to try weapons
- Restock on ammunition and Medigel
- Another pet (Good ol' Urz mabye)
- LI move into your cabin (Mr Theropod's idea)
- Trophies from missions in game like the N7 helmet recovered from the Normandy Crash Site (Redem0's Idea)

Well television would be good, but not as silly as GTA IV (but keeping it to the level ME2 would make it fantastic)
It would finally allow us to the see our interview with Emily wong
A captain journal would be nice espicially if the style of writting espouse how you played the mission

Loading to my own deck was very minimum, under 4 seconds. No problem for me thus enough room to utilize it all th way. ALSO, I like the fact there is one big window above your bed, so you can observe FTL lights and space itself. With the right interactions and the already good music, I am sold.

Automatic fish feeder.
And Kaidan... Man, I was so glad when I found out you could kill him. I wanted him dead ever since the first mission in ME1.

A dome type ceiling so I can look out at space while laying on my bed. And so everyone flying over can see me nude lol. ;_;

At least you get the feeling it is your domain unlike the first Normandy where it was just a office off to the side of the ship.
As far as improvements how about a actual closet where you can mix and match your informal shipboard attire. A shower in the bathroom, towel rack etc. A reason to go there other than to just change your armor and feed your fish. Pictures on the wall.

A shark tank.
The ability to call up annoying members of the crew and force them to walk a plank into said shark tank if they continue to be annoying.

So many things, but then it wouldn't feel like a cabin on a spaceship where space is supposed to be premium. Automatic fish-feeder is unnecessary.

Liara.
What I actually think they might add, is some sort of trophy from any DLC mission you complete. The salvaged helmet from the Normandy wreck points to this possibility.
