I redeemed my stone prisoner code for my new copy of dragon age on this bioware account, but the in game download is telling me that I need to spend points to download it.  Any helpful advice would be appreciated.

The first to try is to make sure your Dragon Age Origins Content Update Service is running. Try manually starting it before you start the game:

1.) Press the windows key + R (or click Start and then RUN) and type in services.msc and press ENTER
2.) Locate the Dragon Age: Origins - Content Update in the list of services.
3.) Right click it and select START

There is more advanced troubleshooting in the Redeemed DLC Troubleshooting FAQ

When I try to start it, windows gives me a message stating: "Windows could not start the Dragon Age Origins - Content Updater service on local computer. Error 2: The system cannot fund the file specified." If I open the file's proporties, it says that the Path to executable is to a folder that no longer exists on my computer. My guess is that I should completley re-install the game while only keeping past save files.

Did you Dragon Age Installation move, or is it missing files? If it just moved, its a rather simple registry change to fix the service, and in fact reinstalling doesn't always get Windows to pick up the new location.

* Figure out where the correct location for DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe, it should be in your Dragon Age Origins installation path under the bin_ship directory.
* Run Regedit.exe
* Search for all references to DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe
* When you find the ones that are under DAUpdaterSvc, update the ImagePath key to point to the correct location for DAUpdaterSvc.Service.exe.

If the file is actually missing you will probably need a reinstall to get all the right files and directories back.

I just finished re-installing dragon age since I was having trouble again with the other option and Stone Prisoner seems to be downloading fine. Thanks for the help!
