Hi, sorry if this has been asked before, but I couldn't find it in search.

I wanted to edit party camp a little bit, nothing ambitious, just adding some things and moving things around. I'm totally new to the DA toolset and I'm confused. I've worked with the Oblivion Toolset but that is about as experianced I am.

I have a few questions:

1. Is it even possible to edit the party camp or do I have to start a new module, select the party camp and make changes there?
     1. If that is the case, will it mess up my party going there? Like, will the camp be completely empty?
     2. If so, is there any way to fix it?
2. Will it keep the changes made to party camp or change every time I load it?
3. Are there any tutorials that address the party camp?

Thanks!

The way i see it, things are quiet possible i dont know how difficult it would be thou.

Just it is hard to see what is possible which way. Its all so different and like layered. It really depends what you want to edit.

I would say you should not check out any singleplayer resource for tests just now. The camp that you can open with the toolset is called area. Much of the colorful stuff can be altered with scripts, and actually are very much tied to scripts already.

You could edit this Area thou ,albeit it is hard to follow and cant be told very quicky here.

I really have no direct answers to the questions. What exactly would you wanna change?

I don't want to do anything drastic, I just wanted to move around the tents, add some stuff like the clothesline you see in Lothering, stuff like that. I just want to fool around with it without messing my game up.

I also wanted to put some dummies up for Sten to practice combat on while in camp, but if it would be too hard then I probably won't.

Strictly just aesthetics.

hmm oki. you see by my post a mod that adds a tent? This is quiet funny because tents are baked into the area by the layout.

I see it this way.. you should differ between the level layout, and the area. When you open the camp from the toolset you see the area. An area is the layout + all the fancy interactive stuff. Layout is all the terrain and tents and most everything.

To edit any of this stuff you need to go and edit the layout, i think bioware made the sources for those available for download.

I think the level layout is only a rough block and a single file not needed anywhere else but for the area to use, and that doesnt influence gameplay at all. But all the area bits which are placed on top of it pretty much are aligned for a perfect fit. The wiki describes a level layout as a "art resource". Those arent tied to a specific module, so you can ignore the idea of a custom module for layouts. There can only be one layout for the camp for the whole game. And what it will be is a override mod, and not a addin.

You can try to grab the source for the camp, download link is on the wiki. I think the camp is found from brecilian forest layouts, file "brc900" or something like that.

But editing this only makes sense so far, because it overrides, and it will be hard to maintain the perfect fit with the area.

Oh the more practical stuff can be found in the area really. You can probably add dummies if you create a placeable for them, if there isnt already a placeable.

Placeables can be added to the area with scripts, you dont need to touch the area. As i said, dont checkout the camp area for tests.
