I posted on Dragon Age Support and got the following runaround. Disappointing.

I seem to have a bug, whose symptoms include:
- you can't talk to Shale
- when you do talk to shale you get the first activation conversation and the world disappears
- warden's keep disappears from your map
- all items you got from warden's keep have vanished (Ogren is naked)
Please don't tell me I have to start over, or use old save games.
When will a patch be available to fix this nightmare?
I fear this will be a severe blow for DLC as a concept.

See Section 1 of the DLC In Game Errors FAQ. There are some ways you can use the Developer's Console to recover, but the best bet is to completely exit and restart, and then hope you have a working save that isn't too far back.
