Obsidian did it for KOTOR2 and even back then it was a gig or so. I don't see why Bioware couldn't do it in the age of high speed internet.

Yeah, I would download it. Cutscenes look bit lame on 1920x1200. They are obviously sized and compressed with 720p TVs in mind.

Also the cutscenes seem to use wrong luma range for PCs. They seem to use 16-235 lumarange (TV standard) where PC uses 0-255. This results in low contrast and washed out blacks. I have to check this out again to be sure. Though its possible that they are just rendered with bland and washed out contrast.
If they have lumarange mismatch then its easily fixed. Directshow filters can do it on fly on movie files.

I'm on a 24" widescreen @ 1900 x 1200 and those cut scenes are quite blurry and grainy.

*nods*

Yah exact same specs for me
The cut scenes were a little dissapointing especial since it such a beautiful game, then they throw in theses terrible cut scences
Hopefully the next game will fix this, or better yet the next patch

The videos are shot at 720p (1280x720) so if you are playing at a higher resolution than that they are going to be rather grainy and blurry.

Endure, because full 1080p videos would take up much larger space and probably fill up a third disc.

I doubt it would be worth the effort for Bioware to re-record the video files and release a huge multiple GB patch for a few PC players to be able to have full-glory resolution (although I do play on PC and at 1920x1200).

A few PC-players? I bet most people out there having a PC plays Mass Effect 2 in about 1680x1050 or higher. Oh well, its REALLY crappy they've done this and there's not even a fix for it. Just a shame.
