Im on the fence on wheter or not to buy this game, so i figured why not come to the place where ppl know this game best. Give me 10 good reasons to spend $60 on it. Talk it up as much as you want. If this game is really as good as ppl say, I want to hear about it

I don't know...Why should you buy it? Maybe a better question is why do you ask complete strangers about what you should do with your money? I say make a donation to Haiti or something. Or maybe send me a check....? Maybe? ;)

To entertain yourself.

Whether or not this game WILL entertain you I do not know.

It is entertaining. That's the best reason, right there. It is so entertaining that you will almost certainly play it more than once. Your mileage may vary, but I think it is typical to play it twice all the way through at first, then come back and play it another couple of times a few months later, then once or twice again right before the sequel comes out.

Another good reason is that the story and characters are well written and compelling, and will linger in your thoughts long after you have completed the game and shelved it.

If those reasons aren't goo enough for you, then you should probably go outside or spend some time with your wife or girlfriend and put off buying the game for a while.

Quoted For All The Truth It Holds!

In all seriousness, he is right. We don't know what you like, and you my have a entirely different opinion or perspective on things than we do. We can't tell you what we like, because you may not like the same thing.

Its like asking your server there opinion: "What should i order?" "Will i like the chicken or the fish?" It's silly to expect such...we being the members who care enough about the game to keep up with the forum will undoubtetly tell you how much we loved it (though it seems to got some of the worse members in your topic)...still, we all bought it and loved it for various reasons...many of us probably owned ME1...so how bout you go buy ME1 at its low price of...whatever...then if you liked it enough, know that ME2 improved upon almost all of its faults and then you can buy ME2. Will make for a better experience, anyways...

i agree. I personally played ME1 at least 3 times before i even started the next game i had qued up, and then after beating that game (Borderlands) immediately played ME1 again, then went out and got ME2. that shows how fun it is, i have only played for a few hours, but it looks amazing and it seems that your decisions have true gravity, not so much in the first, and if u have ME1, then keep your player, and it keeps your choices from the first, and it is COOLIO, assbucket

Opportunity Cost. I'll easily drop three times that on a one night date with some girl I thought was cute, but who turns out to be completely obnoxious. If I'm just hanging out with friends, I'll probably spend $20-30 in a night. I often have to explain this to some of my friends who don't get why I "waste" money on video games when I see them blow through their paycheck every week just to get a hangover from the alcohol, and indigestation from the late-night drunken take-out binging that comes with it. A new video game will cost me the same as two nights out. So I usually judge it's worth, based on whether it gave me more entertainment value than two mediocore nights out. Since I mostly buy used games, its even less of an issue. If it's just a money issue, you can wait until the used price comes down. You'll be missing out on Zaeed, and a few other minor things, but nothing really that major. If you decide you like the game, you can always pay for the DLC content after.

In the case of ME2, if you liked the first you will PROBABLY like this.It isn't as long as I would've liked, even with 2-discs, but most games aren't as big these days as they used to be, since the emphasis in on high-detail graphics.

that depends entirely on whether you played ME1, what games you like, and what you expect from it.

your going to get alot of blind praise and alot of raging hate for the game, so ill sum up the facts:

mass effect 2 is a space opera. its all about the characters and your interactions with them. there is alot of little side stories involving them, there is interactive conversations where you can be nice or a jackass, help people or ignore them. the story revolves around them more than a conventional central plot, though of course their is one, but you need to know the plot of ME1 to appreciate it at all in ME2.

combat is similar to your average tps in that you have cover to consider, weapons with limited ammunition to fire, and headshots to grovel at. but, there is also a class system that allows you to pick a certain combat style, always with special abilities such as overloading enemy shields, special ammuniton types like incendiary, and force-esque biotic throws. you can pick 2 of your various squadmates and direct their position in combat, as well as utilizing their special abilites, which always include a unique ability that can be unlocked if certain interactions are taken with them outside of combat. you can also customize your character's face in the beginning, and their armor throughout the game.

you can upgrade various aspects of combat (weapon damage, armor) through a resource system. the actual gathering of resources is pretty much accepted as one of the worst aspects of the game, though thankfully you dont actually need to do more than an hour or so of it to get everything. you can also buy these upgrades, as well as new armor pieces to customize, though their is very few pieces to get (you can also buy fish for your fishtank!)

the main appeal of the game is going to be character interaction however, and thankfully that is very well done. you have 10+ teammates, all with interesting interactions and stories to play through, even romantic in some cases.

if your expecting a sequel of Mass Effect 1...prepare to be sorely disappointed. but if its your first ME game, and you love interesting characters and an interesting twist on typical TPS gameplay, then by all means, get it.

Too lazy to read reviews and even lazier that you won't bother to read the two quality posts above this one.

Despite what you say, about the Mass Effect 1 sequel, I am not disappointed at all.. I'm just a lot more into the story! The disappointment is just your point of view, and if it's referred about the changes they've decided to make to the game, it's still your own point of view.. I would have liked too some of the old features still there BUT, after 2 playthroughs, I'm completely comfortable with the new system which, sincerely, fits a LOT more in the space opera fiction.

Because its easily the most entertaining game release since AC2 or Dragon Age. And AC2 was only good because you get to play as a assassin during the intrigues of the Italian renaissance. Props.
