Hope I won't regret asking this, but I have already gone through a full play-through of ME2 and didn't find any purpose to that magazine. Now in a second play through with a character that is intended to be imported into ME3, I want to know if that Fornax thing serves any purpose?
I don't want my LI in ME3 to confront me and yell : "You rotten dirty dog guess what I found in your vcr this afternoon???"
Is there a purpose to that Fornax magazine?

I don't think it has. Maybe I'm blind, but I haven't seen the books or anything but the animals since I've purchased them.

How else do you think Garrus or Tali do their research?

I really thought I'd get the novels when I bought them - I've only got the first one for real, so was quite disappointed when I couldn't read them......Not only that, but you can't get a refund from the shop, either!

It's a codex entry as someone said before. But yes, it is pointless and was probally just added in for humour.

For the lulz.

I bought it to see if I could give it to Kelly. Didn't work, though. Too bad.

It's tentacle porn and Bioware is doing behind the scenes market research for a North American publisher that found a loophole in the obscenity laws that allows it as long as it's only published on Tuesdays between the hours of 10pm and 1am. Everyone who picked up the tentacle porn is now a potential customer and a verified lead. And the best news of all!!!! We get special tentacle porn discounts in all our registered emails from now until Dec 2012, at which point the contract will be re-negotiated based on market fluctuations.

Ditto. Fornax has already inspired some porn artists on the internet.
By the way, is that a hanar on the cover?

I still think that the alien on the cover of the Fornax looks likes a Reaper.

It's an artist's interpretation of a Krogasm.
