Currently I am play Mass effect 2 in insanity difficulty. I think this difficulty setting is just too crazy and frustrating.
I am on the collector ship now. But the problem is, the distance between platfroms are too close.
Beside, if I did not bring the right team and right upgrade, I am pretty much ****ed in that level.
I mean, I respect challenges. But this one is not fair. I just to take cover behind the only barricade on that platform.
And the Collector boss keep shooting "Fireball or Bombs" at me. But he has one move that knock me off the barricade. At that few second, I was back out of the barricade, standing and got shots from other collectors and scions until I died.
I mean It's take cover mean take cover. How can an enemy can knock me off the barricade, and force to be standing getting shots?
Beside, my squad never take cover even thought I command them to take cover.
All these bugs or challenges are just does not make sense.
It is so frustrating.
My question is, Can Bioware fix these kind of annonying problems? I mean it just not fair to the players.
I just hope that they can fix the knock off from the barricade and let the team take more cover.
If I can finish the game insanity without my squad, it will be acceptable. But the fact that they died so many time on the field.
What kind of **** can make sense to the gamers who like challenges? and remember, I got stuck there for a long time.
Mass effect 2 insanity difficulty is crazy.

Well it's called Insanity for a reason.
I for one stay on Veteran, I want to keep my hair on my head.

I hate to be the one to say it, but...it IS called insanity for a reason. It is supposed to be absurdly difficult. Go down to hardcore if you don't like it.

Well to be honest, I want to get the achievement for insanity.
But it seems like, I would never get it because of the insanity.
I just felt like, It's not fair

What class are you playing as?

It's not THAT difficult.
You just have to make sure you know what do you need from your crew members and how does your Shepard fight.
As a Vanguard, i'm quite versatil. I don't keep spamming Charge all over the place and it works with me. But i've seen some crazy videos on youtube that use a hole different strategy, and it works.
You just have to know how to play anytime, and for that you may lower difficulty a bit if you just can't do it.

I honestly didn't find Insanity that difficult. I play exclusively on that setting and can't remember the last time I died.
There are really just a few tricks to learn to make insanity a lot easier. The big blast he shoots at you that knocks you out of cover moves really slow, and it's black...really easy to nice in comparison. If you sidestrafe behind your cover when it's closing in, you make it freak out and fly over your head. It's really helpful to beating those parts.
Also, try different squad positioning on that part on the Collector ship, use one of your teammates to draw their attention if you have to and use heavy weapons to take them down while they aren't focusing on you.

I just let the companions die and kill everything myself on the platforms.
Few hints:
- Place yourself behind the middle barrier on the first platform. This is where you'll fight 2/3 of the time.
- getting off to a fast start helps. Every time a platform arrives, you need to do your best to kill two of the collectors before Harbinger possesses the third. Throw or concussion shot is good for this once you get their barriers down.
- Once Harbinger is on the scene, you can strafe back and forth behind the center barrier and he'll never knock you out of cover. Until the 3rd stage of the fight, when I usually move move to the left barrier (since everybody is on the left platform). Either way, he won't knock you out of cover if you're moving.
- If there are any collectors or Harbinger is there, completely ignore the scions (except for avoiding their shockwave, obviously...). Don't waste time trying to kill them unless you have a pause between platforms. Save them for last, once you've taken care of everything else.
Once you get your strategy down, I think you'll find it's actually not that hard. It just takes a long time - and you just can't make a mistake getting in/out of cover. I had a devil of a time with it myself until I got it figured out.

Be Sentinel. The Tech armor can take 3x as much damage as regular sheilds just on the second level. Max sentinel sheilds can withstand 2 shots from th scion before failing on insanity

Insanity is crazy? Now that's definitely a tautology.
Even so, if you made it as far as the Collector Ship on this level of difficulty, I'd say you're doing allright. I actually reloaded that level after realizing that shooting at Collectors with my recently acquired Geth Rifle was about as effective as flicking boogers at them. I just went back to the Normandy, retrained some powers (adding Warp Ammo) and had little trouble getting through. Even that irritating Praetorian fell to my heavy weapons and Widow with little protest--which is great. Now, I never have to deal with that a-hole again.

I beat the game on insane.
The collector ship the most difficult mission in the game on insane.
Bring the miranda and grunt with you.
And always order your sqaud behind good cover and take it slow.

I was thinking of how to describe it but someone else did it already: Get cover at the narrow ends of the barricades.
Then, if you don't get knocked out, focus fire scion, then the collectors, then harbinger. If you do get knocked out, kill collectors then scion then harbinger. You can slide along cover and sprint to try to avoid harbinger's attacks if you can't find a stable cover.

There is no combat until the platforms. If you feel you have the wrong team, just restart the mission.Manloi wrote...

The Collector Ship is really hard... the first time you ever try to do it. The second time I played through on Insanity it was surprising how much easier it was, simply because I knew what was coming and to get the scions out of the way first.

Recently started a paragon femshep on insanity, its not too hard, just have to use all tactics at your disposal and be quick with the trigger finger

The Scion is basically mobile artillery. It can be a nuissance if you're not constantly behind cover, but doesn't really press the attack like the Harbinger drones do. My tactic was to focus sniper fire on drones (Widow one-shot-kill head shots even on Insanity) while chipping away at the first Scion, all the while making sure that Harbinger didn't get too close. The second Scion, I saved for last. It took 2 tries and many squad deaths to clear that area.

As a soldier with the revenant, which only takes one clip to kill a harbinger on insanity just sit back and manage you squad powers using the sniper rifle to kill the scions and blasting the harbingers with the revenant when they get too close. And that is the hardest part of the entire game so be sure to have lots of medi-gel and you'll be fine. Also geth shield boost with the added weapon damage is great for this seeing as you can usually kill 2 collectors before they collapse, and thats with everyone shooting at you. On insanity it really is about finding a strategy that works and getting upgrades as soon as possible for your main weapons (pick 2 and go with them).

As an infiltrator insanity is pretty much "normal" it isn't really hard, the only problem is that your squad do not get smarter when difficulty increases, die too often =/ . And you end up as 1 man army.

soldier + revenant (might be a throwback to revan, revan-revenant? nevermind) + AP rounds = ownage
with VG, perhaps the most frustrating class to play on insanity... sometimes playing it cautious works best, sometimes it screws you in the end and you really should be playing more aggressively to end battles more quickly
one of the most peculiar class i ever played in any game

To be honest, I'm not finding it too difficult at all.
At least as a soldier, pop out, use adrenaline, mow lighter enemies down with an assault rifle, use sniper for tougher ones.
Only thing I really noticed, is that it simply reduces the amount of time you can be out of cover, therefore extending the lengths of the fights.

It wasnt that difficult, I was playing the infiltrator and pratically one shotting everything later on. Allthough limited ammo, So the the Heavy pistol and Smg's were great back ups.
