I've been a big fan of RPGS but for some reason i don't plan on buying FFXiii for now for some reason. I've heard that its going to be very linear. I do plan on getting Awakenings, Alpha Protocol, and New Vegas later this year. how about you guys?

I've heard that it's painfully linear. Like, invisible walls at every turn.

I will most likely buy ff and Awakening.

all i can say is that it looks beautiful but that not good enough reason to buy it when there are many other choices like new vegas, fable 3, and maybe doing another runthrough dragon age would be more worthwild..

As far as Japanese RPGS, my favorites were phantasy star 2-4, final fantasy 6-9, suikoden 1-3, and lunar 1 &2.

I think that the fable series are worthy of giving them a shot.

Well I don't care for or like the main Final Fantasy series(except XII which was a gem). Generally I don't like JRPGs(altohugh there are some rare exceptions).

Awakenings, New Vegas, Alpha Protocols AND FF XIII for me, please.
After barely enjoying Fable, however, and not even finishing nor really wanting to go back to Fable 2, I won't be suckered a third time into buying another Fable. Don't get me wrong, I loved the dog in Fable 2 - and I loved... well, like ... no, the dog was about it for Fable 2 for me.

I will be getting FF13 as I am a big fan of RPGs of all colors. I will of course be picking up Awakening as well, which I am more excited about than XIII. I'll get New Vegas when it comes out as well...I'm sure I will be playing a lot as the year goes on but we will have to see.

regardless of how crappy a final fantasy game is, it's a slam dunk case in getting those near perfect reviews. money buys excellent reviews. FFX and X2 were insanely retarded. i haven't played a single FF game since those two abominations. i don't plan on touching FFXIII, either.
i'll happily go back to playing xenogears, star ocean, chrono cross, chrono trigger, FFVIII, and FFIX.

Persona 3 and Persona 4 are on my list of favorite JRPGs. I'm not a big JRPG player though, I'm an Otome kind of girl.
I saw the maps for FFXIII. Each map seemed...disturbingly linear. The reviews say, it's not a game to stop and look around, it's about pressing forward and continuing.
Ahah, I found the maps. I suppose you shouldn't click if you don't want to be spoiled. It's not really spoiler-y, but some people are sensitive about that stuff.

I'll definitely be buying the latest sequel of that Pretend-To-Have-A-Critical-Opinion-Based-On-Hearsay-For-An-Unreleased-Product-That-You-Haven't-Even-Tried-Yet game.
er No wait, on second thought, I heard there's nothing new in it.
Here's some mostly-spoiler-free reviews by someone who's apparently played the whole thing:
FF13, Overall Thoughts
FF13, Linear?

I don't plan on getting the new final fantasy either. It looks pretty, but from all the trailers I have seen I don't particularly like the look of any of the characters, in fact the vast amount of huge eyed cutesy girls in it frankly turns my stomach. I also am not particularly pleased with how the combat looks. But the bottom line is that I played earlier versions of final fantasy because of the ongoing story, and I really don't like the look of this one.
I suppose Bioware has totally ruined final fantasy for me because dragon age has set the bar so high with story telling that the very superficial storytelling in final fantasy really doesn't stand up, especially when I end up really disliking many of the main characters.

I'll most likely buy FF13 just for the sake of having somthing to play, I acctually don't like pretty, shiney FF but it's somthing to do.
I want the new witcher game to stop being delayed... or whatever has happened to it ¬.¬
But Awakenings will definatly be on the top of my list.

I used to be into JRPGs. The Final Fantasy series petered out for me at FF7 though. I played FF8 and FF10 but failed to muster up enough interest to finish either. I thought Square's other games were much better. Final Fantasy Tactics was amazing. One of the few games I completed by playing nonstop without sleep until it was over. Vagrant Story was also impressive. Other JRPGs I enjoyed were Shin Megami Tensei stuff like Persona and the two Persona 2s, Devil Summoner, ect...
FF13 is the first one in ages that's manged to pique my interest. Linear or no, I would buy it if I could. Unfortunately I lack a PS3 or 360. Unless they do a PC version I'm out of luck.
Fallout: New Vegas and Alpha Protocol are sure purchases though. I'm eagerly awaiting both.
