FF13 is the first one in ages that's manged to pique my interest. Linear or no, I would buy it if I could. Unfortunately I lack a PS3 or 360. Unless they do a PC version I'm out of luck.

Fallout: New Vegas and Alpha Protocol are sure purchases though. I'm eagerly awaiting both.

Same here, damn the lack of a PC version! :(

New Vegas should pretty much dominate the WRPG market for this year, while FF13, like it or not, lays waste to the entire world.

I won't be buying it when it comes out anyway. I'll probably wait for a friend to buy it and try it first.

I've heard there wasn't going to be a world map with a transport ship of some kind. That would be disappointing. That's iconic for an FF game. Maybe it's just a rumor and not true.

FF12 was so rubbish, in terms of story, though the game was fun to play, it doesn't matter if you don't care about the characters...hope 13 has better plotlines

forget FFXIII, POKEMON IS COMING OUT THAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok, lol, anyways, i only ever really liked FFX ...and X-2 sort of, ... tried 8, and couldnt go farther back cus of graphical quality snobbishness (with exception of III cus it came out on the DS) tried to get 12 from my friend but accidently got him hooked on it again, so maybe my experience with FF is a bit skewed but i still find them better than almost every single other game i have because, at least in X, it WAS very linear but didn't feel like it because i always looked at it like, why would i be doing these side quests when i have to get to Zanarkand? the plot in FFs IMO would make the game linear even if it was sandboxed and had side quests

also, i have enough expendable income to get every game i want, mostly cus i just dont want that many

so i am definitely going to get it

I'm definitely going to buy it, i'm a big fan of the series. I'm not too bothered about it being very linear, hopefully it will be fun anyway. I was hooked on FF XII, defiantly one of my favourite games of all time. I think it will be amazing in my oppinion

Even though there is little info about it I'm more excited about new vegas despite obsedians questionable track record.

I think it was Final Fantasy 10 two that weined me off the series.

I think I'll pass on New vegas, doesn't interest me. I only played Fallout 3 but I thought it was boring, it didn't appeal to me at all. I was dissapointed after actually bothering to by the game just after release

though i still plan on getting it, not alot of true rpg games out lately.

march is gonna be a busy month, GoW 3, DAO Awakenings, and FFXIII

not to mention i am also interested in Resonance of Fate.

I thought FFX was an amazingly well made game, and I'll try this one out on the basis that most FF games have a wonderfully crafted story on the lines of most great Sci-Fi epics.

hey, hey!
"a game series is as good as it's last game, which sucked."

not directly bashing FF12, just quoting GuitarHero ../../../images/forum/emoticons/tongue.png  ish

anyways, dont judge Final Fantasy by literally the gayest video game it produced (with the exception of crystal chronicles that had no excuse) no clue why the followed up an awesome GUY game with that but..... don't let X-2 push you away from FF

X-2 was an epic fail for so many reasons but X not only was the game that introduced me to RPGs, and by extent Mass Effect, it's remained one of my top 5 favorite video games ever almost 10 years later. People like to focus on 2 things when insulting X. One is how Tidus was too "optimisistic". Then they'll say he was too "whiny". So do all Final Fantast protagonists have to be like Cloud? And yes, I'm fine with Cloud, but which is it? Whiny or optimistic? And the laughing scene. Yes, it was very cringe-worthy, but if you have any understanding of Japanese culture it becomes slightly more tolerable. One cringe worthy moment from an otherwise awesome game.

Not looking forward to FF13 because I feel the JRPG genre needs to expand to Western RPGs with dialogue options, but I'll probably end up buying it all the same.

I never liked FFX-2, it was a poor story and was too flirty. Hopefully FF13 will help re-kindle my interest in the FF series.

I didn't mind X2, I liked changing the costumes in battle (is showing her girly ways). It isn't WOW GREAT but I only paid like, 6 quid for it, nothing ventured nothing gained. It's simply nice to look at. Though I do have 1000 words on my MP3. ^_^;;

That's my main concern. She was okay in ME1 but terrible in ME2.

I have been a fan of Final Fantasy sense 1989 with the first one;  However, I will only consider getting XIII if they port it to the P.C.  Even then it depends because as you said, there are a lot of great games.  I lost interest in Final Fantasy XII half way through the game and still have the save file on my PS2... So maybe that plays into part of that.  *shrugs*  Then again, I may give this one a chance --- depends on if I want to waste a couple hundred dollars on a pretend PC "console" :P

I like the final fantasy games that are low tech, high fantasy. I wish that series would go back to its roots.

I can kind of sympathize with you there.

SquareEnix did say that they were going to do something entirely different for the post-FabulaNovaCrystallis FF game, probably even have a whole different team working on that.
