 OK, so I finished Mass Effect 2 and I'm given the prompt to continue searching the galaxy or start a new game with my current character's stats.  Right now I have a maxed paragon and I'd like to play through again being a renegade, but I want a character with maxed paragon to import into Mass Effect 3.  My question is, if I start a new game with my current character and go renegade will it be that renegade character that will ultimately go to Mass Effect 3 or can I still use my maxed paragon from the first play through completion?

It'll be another separate save if you choose the "new game - import ME2 character". So you get to choose which save you want to import to the third game.
